Normally I'd agree, but those were also the days when high end kids didn't have elaborate selection ceremonies that were advertised ahead of time. I agree we don't need a ton of threads, but since posters are gonna post, having one generic pre-announcement thread about the hype ahead of time makes sense. Otherwise the same posters are just going to pollute the other threads. It's like building a skate park for the community instead of having the kids skateboarding all around the city sidewalks, parking lots & malls. A singular pre announcement thread is a good containment policy.
