It was looking ok until Denard went out and our defense decided to implode and Bellomy couldn't make a throw to save his life.  Commence the bitching.  Oh, and the refs where all around the worst I've seen this year both ways.  Whisky time....

If I don't post a comment saying, "this is why you lost your points," then people email Brian and are all "WHY I NO HAZ POINTS?" Then Brian emails me to ask, and I have to try to remember why I nuked that particular individual.

I think the point is you don't have to be a snarky shithead about it.

I know that goes against your natural tendencies, but if you can't moderate in a calm, sober, even-handed manner, then you shouldn't be a moderator.

Also, you suck.

Hanging out with my Husker girlfriend and her husker friends. Would rather be hit by a bus, but when I told her I didn't want to hang out with anybody tonight she got all pissy and I gave in. I'm whipped.

he clearly is unable to prepare this team for any important game, especially a road game. I know some of apologists will mention msu, but when the offense can't score a touchdown, that's on the coaching staff. the entire staff, with the exception of mattison needs to be run out of town TOMORROW. the offensive game plan was piss poor and that's being nice and polite about it. furthermore, bellomy should have his scholarship riscinded. he clearly is not capable of leading a pop warner offense much less a supposed D1 offense. Michigan is a joke of program and anyone who thinks differently is a delusional homer. sorry for stating facts

is scott tenorment material, then so be it. this board has too many sunshine blowers and homers anyway. someone needs to be objective. this team wouldn't be competitve against a division filled with app state's.

8 quarters without a touchdown? embarassing losses to alabama, notre dame, nebraska this year as well as msu and iowa last year? an inability to prepare the team for road games? the fact that denard has regressed as a quarterback? how about bellomy being even somewhat prepared to play the position he was recruited for? What's insane is how far this program has fallen under rich rod and hoke.

im sorry. does the truth hurt sunshine blower? the team sucks donkey dick, yet because hoke was able to pull off some sort of miraculous year last year he's in the reincarnation of Bo? let's not forget that charlie weis went 11-2 his first year at ND,

We should have lined Toussaint up at QB to ease his running struggles, Bellomy at RG, Omameh at punter, and then had Roundtree run in circles at the fifty yard line, even between plays.

I think our coaches have done a pretty decent job, but with the exception of Mattison, they just don't seem to be a very smart bunch.  Unexplainable burning of redshirts, the Gardner move to WR, terrible clock management, EXTREMELY questionable playcalling and personnel decisions, etc.  How can you just watch Bellomy completely destroy the chance to win the game and just sit there with your arms crossed?

Expectation is for the position at Michigan. Which means we tell them what we want and we are supposed to get it. If not then its not our fault its the tradition. Blame high expectations whatever it may be. My point is that you will not get an emotionally honest answer from any of them save Mattison.

I was very concerned when he came in, based on his sub-.500 record, etc.  I hope he can be a good CEO type coach, with excellent coordinators doing their job.  Everything I have seen has confirmed my fears about Borges.  Landing Mattison was a coup.  I hope Hoke and Brandon have the good sense to abandon Borges before too much damage is done (no later after year four?), and I hope Hoke can be a good CEO type coach.

the Gardner move to WR

I don't have much of a gripe with this ... I think having Gardner at WR is a net plus ... if we could just get the ball to him.  It looked really promising early on, but of late he seems to have disappeared.  I'm not sure if that's because of the opposing defense or something on our side of the ledger sheet.

Ah, no reason to be mad. Sucks, but what are you going to do? I don't blame Bellomy that much.
Bellomy's responsibility to be prepared Borges/Hoke's responsibility to get him prepared. I won't lie, I thought we would beat this team. Not our night. Shit happens.

Under 15 years old, or not very intelligent.

We read your comment the first time.

I think that Borges needs to go, and I have never been a big fan of his.

I was impressed with the season we had last year, but as we know, a good/great year one is not a perfect indicator or success.  Look at the first seasons at ND for Ty and Chuckles...

hoke is a poor man's charlie weis. he will never bring this team to relevant or even competitiveness in the big ten. brandon needs to fire him. anybody even remotely (very remotely) competent would be a huge improvement.

That's crap. For all we know Hoke and Borges privately tutor Bellomy every night (FTR, highly doubtful, just sayin'). It's on him to execute, and he didn't. Sure, they could've helped him out A LOT with playcalling, etc., but the second and third picks were totally on him (first one probably shouldn't have been ruled a pick at all). You just can't come out and shit the bed when you're the heir apparent.

The nerve  is place in a tunnel that the nerve is supposed to glide through, the response to injury is to apply scar tissue to the site of the injury, if this is the case it will never glide through th cubital tunnel smoothly causing lose of feeling on a continous basis.

That is pretty much the beginning and the end of what happened.  Bellomy was a little disappointing, but everything else that we saw became the likely outcome(s) of the game when Denard went down.   He is the straw that stirs the drink, and he just wasn't on the field.  That's it.

This.

We were poised to take a 10-7 lead. Offence was able to move the ball. Aside from the one drive with the busted coverage and the pick route, defence was strong.

Wheels fell off with Bellomy in. Pelini was able to send the house at him and Bellomy acted exactly like a frosh with few snaps on the road would.

Sure, there's got to be some blame somewhere, probably Borges, for not being able to get anything done without Denard, but at end of day, if Denard stays in, we probably win the game.

Whatever, is done. Need beat OSU probably but still a good shot at winning division.

Obviously the results on the field are pretty much entirely attributable to Bellomy playing instead of Denard, but acting like that was the either or situation forced upon the team isn't true.

Devin Gardner was the #1 dual-threat QB recruit in the country, he's been on campus three years (two with these coaches), and he played at QB in most games last year (even when Denard was healthy) and led a key TD drive at Illinois.  I don't know how anyone can look at Bellomy and Gardner and decide Bellomy gives you a better chance to win.  Or even how you could think getting some contribution from Gardner at WR is worth not being able to use him (apparently) if/when Denard gets hurt (while also not prepping him for next year when he will again clearly be the best option at the position).

I think there were some questionable play-calls (the chuck it deep after we got it back in the 4th quarter down 7 was pretty mind boggling) but the frustrating issue is that we ended up losing the fight with such a big round left in the chamber unused.

Those Bellomy zone read calls were almost as ill advised as using Threet and Sheridan in the option. At least try some I formation or some Rawls.

"that" being to not even consider Gardner for QB, just more evidence of Hoke's limitation.  Yes he can recruit and seems like a guy that is truly there for his players, but his decision making is at times questionable... may be putting it mildly.

Tyrann Mathieu had a better week than UM... but seriously...

At the beginning of the season, when it was announced Devin would be playing WR, I thought he would still be the 2nd string QB.  Then I saw the engaging interview with Devin where he was bragging about his blocking ability (LOL) but he was insistent on playing QB next year.

So, I thought ok... He's going to play some WR and come in at QB if Denard gets dinged.  Then next year he'll play QB and hopefully stay healthy so Shane can red-shirt.

Then I thought about it more, and I thought to myself that doesn't make sense...  Denard isn't playing QB at the next level. He's going to be an ATH in the draft.  We should have been starting Devin at QB this year (and possibly last year) under the Borges system.  Denard would be dangerous on jet sweeps, screens, etc... Plenty of ways to get him the ball and keep him in play on 80% of the offensive snaps.

Also, this year was kind of a mulligan.  We have Bama to start and a meh schedule in a meh conference.  Playing towards the future with Gardner at QB, makes more sense than a run at a B1G conference championship.  It's like Hoke put all his money on Denard and his legs.  The O has been atrocious the last two games (including the 6 quarters Denard played).  Not to mention, the turnover debacle in South Bend.

The O is a mess right now and next year doesn't bode well for us.  Borges has to be called out.  With Denard being a runner, Bellomy has to be ready to play.  The risk of injury however minor will cause Denard to miss snaps. I think tonight proved he wasn't ready despite being in the system 2yrs.  The unimaginative play calling is also a concern.  Throw in the questionable personnel packages (last week Funchess/Gardner absent on 3rd and Goals, what the Dileo this week?, hey this Rawls guys can grind, etc...).  This is the same guy that called the Vincent Smith halfback pass @ ND... We don't have typical UM or Borges system talent right now (especially at WR), but there are plenty of teams that do more with less.  Borges needs to be able to adapt to his personnel.  Borges has to be held accountable.

Hats off the D - they were on the field the entire 2nd half and they did their job in the worst of situations.

Honestly, that was the worst QB performance I have ever watched.  Nick Sheridan could have done better. How is that our best option at back-up QB?  There is ZERO excuse for that.

No B1G this year.. Maybe if we win out and little brother beats nebreska.. But you can thank Denard and Russ for the game... i am so damn furious. I hope hoke runs the shit out of them monday
