It was looking ok until Denard went out and our defense decided to implode and Bellomy couldn't make a throw to save his life. Commence the bitching. Oh, and the refs where all around the worst I've seen this year both ways. Whisky time....

WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!!!
Neg away, but this comes as the result of not one, but now three important games. It is not just a product of the steaming pile of offense we witnessed today. I'm beginning to wonder if we aren't getting a little reverse RichRod here. Now we have a coach who focuses completely on defense and allows the coordinator on the opposite side of the ball unbridled control, and the results are awful.
THAT MADE 12 STRAIGHT QUARTERS UM hasn't scored a touchdown vs quality/key opponents (ND/MSU/Neb), 10 of which involved a senior all-world QB at the helm. The other two? Watching the Bellomy offense gave me Sheridan/Threet flashbacks. How could Borges have him this unprepared knowing the propensity for Denard to get injured?
I look at the 3/4/5 stars on OSU's offense and compare them to our offense and there really isn't that much disparity. Yet they dropped over 60 on Nebraska and we couldn't even find one lousy TD... I look at the offensive talent on an Arizon team and they find a way to drop 38 on USC. But not one effing TD in 12 quarters?
Borges HAS to be in the doghouse. All we hear is how he's such a champ for patchworking the offense without the pro-style parts he needs, but to have it be this inept? To have Bellomy this unprepared? To have so little gameplan?
I still have hope, but what I lost this game was confidence in Borges that was already waning. Now I'm dubious about our offense for the future, with or without Denard.
Blah blah recruits read this board, whatever. Borges deserves heat. 12 quarters, count them, 12.
I have seen no evidence that Borges deserves our faith. This offense continues to regress, and I am not even referring to the Bellomy fiasco. Your reference to reverse RichRod is accurate in my opinion.
If you are critical of Al Borges, I would like to ask one question. Of the following:
Al Borges
Rich Rodriguez
Mike Debord
Stan Parrish
Are there any that you would classify as good coaches?
My point is simply that I do not recall the last OC at Michigan that was NOT criticized. It is simply not possible that they are all incompetent (well, I suppose it is possible, but unlikely).
Maybe we are putting too much blame on our coaches-- or setting expectiations that are simply unachievable.
(a flamebait tag? really? that's pretty funny)
Almost anybody would say that Rich Rodriguez is a good offensive coach. It was everything else that was the problem.
Just throwing this out there as a question for anyone: do you think that he would fair better with players he specifically recruited? ie drop back passers at QB, bruisers at HB, and 6'3" big targets at WR?
I think it had more to do with play calling which definitely warrants some scrutiny to him. In the past I have felt that he's just not comfortable with his personnel, but recent games (Alabama, MSU, ND, and to a certain extent even Iowa last year) have made me believe that he's just not a great play caller in general.
Bellomy WAS recruited by Borges. So he has a QB on the roster that he wanted.
I don't want to rip on Bellomy right now. But I think he was a last second option just to get QB on the roster. If we didnt' get him we'd only have 2 scholarship QB's on the team.
We're still in 1st place in the division
And Nebraska has the tiebraker. Which technically makes us second.
I care not for asteriskses. Sparty will take care of corn next week and we'll be back in control
We're still in 1st place in the division
Not really. Tiebreakers my friend... we no longer control our own destiny.
BEAT MINNESOTA
With Denard going out of the game. Like in high school when you making out and take her bra off just to find tissue. Yah that's how this game felt
I could have used the tissues while watching this game.
Not upset at the defense at all.
The defense was not the problem today. They had one bad sequence in the first 3 quarters. They seemed to mentally check out of the game after Bellomy threw that pick right after we got the ball back, but at that point we were basically done anyway.
If we still had Tate Forcier (who would have been a senior) I think we would have won this game.
WOW hadn't thought about the FORCIER angle. Geez.
Let's face it; we had to know (with all the carries Denard gets) Bellomy would have to see some time at some point. BEAT OSU!
We're pining away for Forcier? Wow
What hurt us this season as well was Stonum being a dummy. Had he been around we would have had a deep threat at WR and maybe Gardner would have been able to stay at QB.
But college kids gonna college kid, and Tate and Stonum are gone.
Right now let's rest Denard's arm, we can beat Minnesota w/o him. I think. Get him healthy for NW, Iowa, and Ohio.
How in the hell are we beating Minnsota without Denard ? I know Sheridan didit but this Minnesoa tam is better and i all honesty Sheridan looked more in control than Bellomy
Well, we have a defense now.
How could you possibly blame the defense ever at all once this season? Alabama? We forced a three and out on the first drive and played very well until half our offense played absolutely horrible all day. Notre Dame? How many times did our defense save our asses? And not just save it forcing field goals when Denard threw another int that was returned to their side of the field? 5 turnovers (maybe more?) and they only beat us by one touchdown. That game should have been a blowout yet our offense had 2 drives where it should have at least been OT. We just fumbled there.
Nebraska? We had some bad calls (the ground causing that fumble/int and the first replayed call on the made catch that went back) and it was still close for much of the game. Denard had some good passes today in tight coverage. Can't possibly ask this Defense to do more. They can't be on the field this much. We had BAD calls o offense all night and the defense can't possibly do more in any game. Yes Alabama scored a lot but with any kind of offense it's a close game, ND we win, Nebraska we win.
Never have been a big Denard guy but last year and this year combined he's beaten al Big Ten schools we should beat (convincingly I might add) and ND, MSU and OSU. He hasn't improved any this year vs last year and the pays don't help him. You want him to throw more yet call zone read for every run? Gimmie a break. Our offense isn't good enough to win out much less OSU and we can't expect more from our defense..
Closing I'd like to say I prefer this over Rich Rod. I'd rather lose 6-13, 9-24 or whatever than 60-75. Yes he beat USC which is more than he could do at Michigan in 3 years. Hoke knows more about Offense than Rod knows about Defense but we need a decent/good offense and we'll be a serious threat.

2 straight games without a touchdown. Heads need to roll. Starting with our Oline coach.. Worst UM Oline I have ever seen.
Did you just start watching this year?
Nope
Was "Boogereater1" already taken????
I needed one after last night.
Nope
The oline played pretty well when you consider the fact that Nebraska blitzed Bellomy on every single play
He's telling the truth when he says no. He hasn't been watching this year either.
short memory
Speaking of heads rolling, I'd be all for banhammering this jackass.
He's being a moron on purpose, just to get himself into TWIS.
Minimum point threshold needs to be implemented now...
Remember people: Don't drink and post.
I disagree. I was driven to drinking heavily after third down and even I know that the o-line play was fine given that Nebraska brought at least 6-7 guys every play. Tough game for everyone on the field.
that we can't spring our backs, but yeah he was over the top.
While I disagree with part of that statement, there is no excuse for not being able to score a touchdown against this Nebraska defense. With one quarter of denard or 3 quarters of anyone
but I bet their kidneys are sore. I swear to God Fitz cannot see anymore. I spent most of the game rewinding and slow-motioning trying to figure out what the f he was looking at.
I was all for allowing Fitz to get into a rythm, but that time has passed. He is just not seeing things well at all. I'll recant and align myself with those calling for a little more Rawls. I hope we're not being Lloyd Carr loyal/stubborn in sticking with Fitz.
And I'll say it again: Vinson Smith is 175 pounds of determination
O line didn't look bad. But the quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers looked awful
Pass protection was good, but the run blocking still isnt there yet. I know the running backs are part of the problem but the holes are either not there or there is an unblocked linebacker waiting in them.
I was going to try to write something clever but that is just too damn careless or ignorant - take your pick.
Wtf were you watching. OLine couldn't pick up a blitz package to save their lives. Can't open a hole. At some point, it has to become a pride thing. Doesn't help that every running play is a race to the short side of the field. Really piss poor play calling and no push on the OLine. Base package pass pro is the only thing our OLine can do competently. Throw in a blitzing linebacker or I don't know, anyone other than the front 3 - 4 DLine and we leak like a submarine with a screen door.
Iphone... bar... drinking... drunk... PISSED OFF
And again, huh.
Or better--huh?
I would say they played just fine. Bad drive in the first half, but once Denard went down they were out there a ton.
Our defense did not implode. Held them to field goals after being on the field ALL 2nd half pretty much and finally gave up a TD. Our defense was solid. Not the best, but definitely did not implode.
And the one TD came on a drive that started in our territory.
So the defense gives up 16 second half points and lets Nebraska essentially the last 5 minutes off the clock with shoddy tackling but they didn't implode? I'm not saying we have a bad defense, I'm saying that they seemed to lose heart when Denard went out and our offense exploded. You can bitch about Borges but what would have worked? Running from the shot gun is disadventageous without the extra blocker and Bellomy looked horrible throwing the ball all night long. I'm just disappointed that Michigan looked unprepared offensively beyond Denard and it probably cost us a title.
Are you really pinning all those points on the defense? Take another look at where Nebraska got the ball to start those drives.
Yeah, they got the ball on our side around midfield, but they moved on us the entire half and we didn't tackle well and the offense was horrid but the defense didn't play well in the second half. You can make excuses, but Nebraska moved at will and our defense looked mentally defeated once our offense looked as bad as it did. This doesn't happen to great defenses and the lack of preparation for the offense without Denard is also inexcusable.
Did u even watch how fast our drives ended? Our defense had to be gassed...
Blaming it on the Defense is a joke.. our offense sucks period..
If Denard was even in we score that TD where denard got hurt, and probably put points up right before the half too..
We gave the ball back to them every 30 secs or so with all the INT's and that bullshit INT that hit the ground. Which they ran right back to the 3 yard line and we held them to a FG
Nebraska is one of the best offensive teams in the conference. Holding them to 23 points is a pretty good day under any circumstances. Doing it under the circumstances of today (Nebraska started three second-half drives on our side of the 50) was pretty exceptional. You cannot realistically expect the D to force 3 and outs on every series. Actually, that's pretty much what we did on their first two "scoring drives" of the second half.
Yeah, and let's blame them for that drive that started around the Michigan 5 yard line because of Belomy INT #1 or 2 (I honestly cant remember). How dare Nebraska get a field goal there!
So what? Mich didnt score any points the rest of the so if we lost by 1 pt, 18 pts, or 100 pts its moot.
I propose a rule: if you bitched about RR, you don't get to bitch about Borges.
I like this rule....especially after RRod handled a top 10 USC team - something we haven't done in a long time, if ever.
I loved RR, so I'll just keep bitching. Ok?
my heart hurts. thats all
I didn't think refs were that bad, but then again there was a blinding pile of shit smeared all over my screen! What a joke!
I thought the refs were awful... They just weren't necessarily awful in a way that hurt us.
The refs were too flag-happy, but the bad calls went both ways. I don't think the phantom interception was really on the refs, as that was a bang-bang play. I blame our coaches for not challenging the call.
I agree to some extent, but the officials had plenty of time to send it upstairs if they saw something. If they couldn't even find a camera angle that warranted further review, a coaching challenge probably would have just been a wasted timeout.
The d got tired Borges has been exposed. Bellomy isn't a quality backup and Brady didn't seem to care. WTF did Gardner do to piss off the coaching staff. Seriously where do we go from here. No TD's in 2 weeks is ridiculous.
I know a trainer and he said Gardner is extremely lazy. Very smart and knows the playbook, but doesn't work for it..
He needs to get off the ground and bring the ball down in the endzone and not just stand there and look for a yellow flag.
Go up and get the F-ing ball!!! How bad do you really want it??
So he knows the entire playbook but because he doesn't work hard we're going to send out a much less talented QB out there to shit the bed time and time again. Tough choices. I'd go with the uber talented lazy guy in a game where we are down 1 score in the 4th quarter with the implications this one had.
to move Devin Gardner to WR looks a little silly now.
Also if anyone on this planet can explain to me the use of the power I formation on 2nd or 3rd and long with a running qb, please enlighten me.
also, arrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh
Denard's got a boo-boo. Borges, you know, we just uh.. we just didn't execute. We've got tremendous faith in uh.. uh.. Russell Bellomy, uh.. I just wish we would have executed a bit better, well.. yeah, I'm not happy, uhh..
I wish recievers could catch a ball from Bellomy.
I wish Bellomy could throw the ball more then 20 yards down field.
I wish Borges could call a game that involved Rawls running the ball.
I wish Borges would learn to put in Gardner when Bellomy looks overwhelmed by the situation.
3 out of 8 games without a TD. Has this ever happened in 133 years of Michigan football? Even the 2008 team managed to score a TD in every game with one returning starter on O and Sheridan/Threet at QB. I'm frightened to think what the offense is going to look like next year as we don"t run the ball very well out of the I and Bellomy well my mother taught me if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.
I agree.
We run the same plays over and over expecting it to work. The don't watch our tapes? Everyone has got our number now.
Why is Smith in there? Has Smith ever made more than 1 yd per carry? I don't really care if he works hard at practice.
Hope Denard is ok and just FOCUS on Minny. B1G title not completely out of reach, we are just TIED for the lead with Nebraska
Except they own the tiebreaker. So really, it is out of reach unless they lose.
so we hold our noses and root for sparty next week?
Yes you root for MSU because you're not as dumb and petty as MSU fans, who were rooting for OSU against us a few years ago even though MSU would've won the B1G had we won.
Course this is all assuming Denard isn't injured and we have some hope to beat Minny.
That is all.
I just hope this at least stops all the "SIT DENARD!!!" posts we get around here whenever the offense is not scoring every other drive.
But I've got a feeling we will be back there the first time Denard throws an INT...
Can we sit Borges?
Tigers and Michigan lose with ugly offensive performances. Michigan's three biggest rivals win (assuming ND doesn't choke). FUCK
Imploded?? Are you serious?? The D stepping up huge on the field the WHOLE second half is the only reason it was 1 score most of the game!
FUCK
Something something witty analogy something something.
This sums my thoughts up perfectly. But seriously; what the fuck is this guy TRYING to do?
Whatever it is - I like it.
... than whatever the fuck it was I sat through last night.
GODDAMNIT WHY ISN'T MICHIGAN ANY GOOD IN FOOTBALL!?!?!?!?!? We are doomed to near-greatness.
I'm afraid I'm an impatient Michigan fan, but Borges isn't nearly as quality a coordinator as Mattison.
Our defense never imploded, they kept us within 7 all the way into the fourth quarter with playing most of the second half....also with denard being out it completely exposed the non existant running game. I understand our offense run though Denard but still, we need to have production from someone else not named denard.
I've said it one and I'll say it again...what exactly is the offense? I've never been sold on Borges and just dont understand how this guy has lasted as long as he has. Bellomy wasn't great but he wasn't helped out by our OC or WR's tonight.
I know the guy isn't going to be fired, but I truly believe with him as your OC and him overseeing the QB's it's not going to be pretty. Gonna be hard to land Treadwell and Green and any other playmakers when you got Al running things.
Mattison, no complaints has more than done his job with not his ideal personnel either. What is Borges excuse? They both got dealt bad hands and one actually did something with it while the other one made his side worse than it was a year ago.
No TD's in 2 games is absolutely inexcuseable from his side of the ball.
Total flop against Bama.
He insists on throwing it when our qb's aren't throwing well.
Refuses to put Gardner in when Bellomy threw AS MANY INTs as COMPLETIONS.
Yeah, we should be putting in a guy who hasn't taken ANY snaps with 1st nor 2nd team this year over the guy who has. Man, your genius knows no bounds.
Gardner performed much better last year against MSU than Bellomy has ever. Bellomy looks like a boy child completely unprepared and overwhelmed. He couldn't even hit a wide open Funchess in the flat 10 yards away.
Yeah Gardner kicked ass against MSU last year:
First, how do you know if that's true. I'm not sure it is, especialy since Gardner played QB in the spring game. That's this year, isn't it?
Second, I'm not hating on Bellomy. I'm just saying, like many others, including those on WTKA, that at some point, when someone is 0 for 10 an has 2 interceptions, it may make sense to put in someone who at least has the proven ability to run and throw, at least better than that. Plus, Gardner has been playing and experienced in game situations. Bellomy looked like a deer in the headlights.
Third, I don't see ANY wisdom in your post - it's just a false assertsion and failure to explain why, even if that false assertion were true, it is correct (and a baseless insult), so I don't see how you can claim that "my genius knows no bounds."
Might not be that hard to land Treadwell/Green. My pitch goes 'we have zero playmakers right now at your position so if you're any good you'll start. Come on down'
We have guys that were playmakers in the past -- Denard, Fitz, Roundtree, even Vince Smith had some great plays but none of those guys save Denard has done much of anything this year. And Denard looks worse as a senior than he did as a soph. So if I'm a recruit, yeah, I might start, but do they know how to get the most out of me? Will they make me better? Those are really iffy questions at this point. That's the part that makes the sell tough(er).
This is a harsh truth that I'm starting to come to grips with. We do have a schematic/coaching advantage on D.
On offense? .................hhhhmmmmm.......
At least tonight, AL in the beginning of the game opened the playbook, maybe not even that he just allowed denard to take more shots down field. This offensive performance can't be pinned on him completely. Where was the run blocking from the offensive line? Fitz still isnt back to 2011 form why? Also for a QB to come in at a night game on the road at Nebraska, when his only significant playing time was garbage time is a tough gig. As I have read many times on this site its like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with borges and denard.
I will reserve my judgement for borges when he gets his type of players for his system. However you could argue that a good offensive coordinator should adapt his plays to the players he has. Borges has done that from time to time but as time has gone on he seems like he is trying to mold the current roster into his plays not the other way around.
It's pretty straight forward.
Three games, JT. Three games.
yes... this
He can't be that bad, I mean, really? Right?
before Hoke swiped him so he could be that bad.
Gardner better be practicing at QB this week! Good game Craig Roh.
Agree Craig Roh was an absolute beast tonight
Oh well. There's always basketball season.
I mean I have no idea after the 20-30 plays Bellamy runs why Borges keeps calling the same plays. Isn't insanity doing something that keeps getting you the same results but hoping for different ones everytime? My mind is drawing a blank.
There is no leadership on this team. No one stepped up today on that offense and they rolled over. This coaching staff better figure out this offense ASAP
Lack of leadership. Yup, right, that is the problem.
I personally thought so on the offensive side of the ball. It wasn't the main problem but when your veteran receivers are dropping the ball, it effects the confidence of the RS quarterback
Because you didn't see anyone on camera showing signs of leadership, you decide that there are no leaders on the team? How do you even come up with that? You aren't on the sideline, you don't know what is being said.
I mean, yeah, pick anything that you can't quantify and put the blame on that. Since you can't quantify it ... you can't be wrong.
I used the wrong word, basically no one stepped up on this offense. Receivers dropping passes, Bellomy on his ass the entire game, running game couldn't get going.
When the leader of the offense sits in the fucking press box all game what the hell do you expect. Leadership starts at the top.
But this comment is asinine, probably at least 90% of OCs sit upstairs.
You can't get any more near 'the top' than the press box. If Borges is in the press box, then he's near 'the top.' Therefore, Borges is in the prime spot for leadership. QED.
Is a "stupid" moderation tag.
Believe me.. His leadership is missed dearly. Lewan went from joker to whatever he is this year. Hard to take a guy seriously after he's been a clown.
Shane Morris is going to hit the gym so hard tomorrorw knowing now, more than ever that he has the chance to start next september.
long before tonight. No doubt Morris will get his chance early next season.
These comments frighten me.
You must really like losing seasons if you are so eager to have a true frosh (who played 1/2 season in high school senior year) start for this team next year.
Reply to Baba Booey - probably not since he is recovering from Mono....and here's more bad news. He will most likley lose a ton of muscle mass because he can't eat, is exhausted all the time and certainly can't work out at all. He is a mortal lock for a RS next year due to physical limitations brought about by Mono. It sucks and takes more than a year to truly recover from.
DG is our starter next season no matter what the coaches say.
He lost 10 pounds and has already gained 5+ back. He played in DLS's last game. This is mono, yes. But it doesn't last a damn year. He will be 100% fine soon, if not immediately.
Mono can easily take a year to recover 100% from. Especially considering the demands he places on his body as an elite athlete. I certainly hope he has a faster recovery but would be shocked if he is anything near 100% anytime soon. Didn't another one of our players go through something like this recently and it took him a long time to recover? I want to say it was Roh but I am not sure.
Roh had an undiagnosed wheat allergy
Denard's got a boo-boo. Borges, you know, we just uh.. we just didn't execute. We've got tremendous faith in uh.. uh.. Russell Bellomy, uh.. I just wish we would have executed a bit better, well.. yeah, I'm not happy, uhh..
rip, dog.
Condolences. I've been there, and some things indeed can put sports into perspective.
At least we still have the avatar.
There is a reason Borges has been to so many schools. He is awful. It is not denard, Bellamys performence proves that. He needs to go If that is what we are going to see next year.
MORE!
Get emotionally prepared to cheer for Sparty next week.
I hope Shane comes in and is a freshman chad henne. He should progress after that though not go backwards
He needs to be or it might be a long season next year.
because Gutierrez got hurt the week before the opener. Morris will start because he will be the best we have.
Henne had a pretty good oline and Braylon Edwards.
Most of the starters on the oline will be experienced and there won't be any wr close to the level of Edwards next year. WR is a position where UM needs a major upgrade in talent over the next couple of recruiting classes.
Most of the starters on the oline will be experienced next year? Lewan is probably gonna go pro. Barnum, Mealer, and Omameh all graduate. That's 4 out of 5 of the starters gone next year. Our O-line is gonna be very young and untested next year.
All the more reason for anyone saying they want to put in Shane right away to stop and think - he's gonna have no protection. We're better off biting the bullet on a weak season with Bellomy or Devin at QB than letting him get pounded all season long.
shitbagfuckgiantbagofdiarrhealacedwithcornandusedhypdermicneedlesandyourmotherdoesn'tlovejesusandthetigerssucktoo.
Bad night.
WOOOO HOOOO SPORTS.
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please forgive me, God.
Timmy Tebro
I've had my fill of 8 p.m. Michigan games for awhile. These have not been fun. (Well, OK, I'll take one more in Indianapolis.)
The lost falls on the coaching staff: first of all they did not have the back up QB ready to play. Bellomy has looked terrible all season even when it didnt matter! Then, they dont give Gardner a chance when it was apparent that Bellomy had no chance to even manage the game. I know Gardner has not practiced at that position all season but Im sure he would not do any worse than 3-16 for 38 yds and 3 interceptions.
Is a Nebraska native.
FUUUUUUUUUUUALSDFHASJDFHADFHAWUIFDHAWK>FJASFWQGFIUWGHFKJCB DCEYIGVWQEFVI
I believe that eloquently and clearly expresses my feelings about tonights events.
blarg
To everyone who complained week in and week out about denard's performance as a qb . . . Fuck you in your fucking asses. I hate you
I have many, many co-workers who continually parrot this crap. "I'll be so happy when Denard is gone!"
Really? You goddamn hopeless fucking idiots. Careful what you wish for. You just might get it.
Dear Universe,
You're fired. You gave us the best runner on the planet and an offensive coordinator who can't tell the difference between the read option and potato salad. He compounds his ignorance of the spread option (understandable) with a stubbornness that would make Caligula himself look like a vacillating wallflower (indefensible). Top it off with a dash of horrible clock management and you have yourself a perfect little shit sandwich known as Borges Denard Fusion Cuisine.
And of course that's not enough, because on this particular night, it was revealed that we don't even use real Denard in our cuisine anymore. Try as you might, your efforts to convince us we'll be alright with Bellomy (I can't WAIT for the postgame presser) will go over about as convincingly as New Coke... and a lot more devastating.
This is not a garden-variety existential quandry I'm in following a tough loss. There IS meaning in the universe, and that meaning is pain. Wake me up after the season ends or the Big Crunch happens, whichever is more merciful.
Sincerely, Chopblock
TWIS material this is
It's like you're writing just to make TWIS... Good luck sir
I drained a sixer of KBC Lift Bridge Ale that night. Meant to bring it back to the LP to savor it. Craft beer crafted an awfully strange rant.
Do not try this at home.
Forget Green and Treadwell, we need to round out the 2013 class with QBs. If Morris gets hurt, I want three 4 star players ready to go in !
No soup for you. Shane has requested no competition and no other QBs recruited in his class. But we need 2 in 2014.
If I run out of vegetable beef, I need at least some chicken noodle and clam chowder. I will cone back in two weeks.
Considering the regression that QBs and offenses enjoy under Borges (at least, at all of his previous stops), not sure that three 4 star players would matter.
We lost, but I just passed the bar!
Commence blackout
Being a lawyer sucks (from experience... I hope you like it more than I do).
As bad as the big ten is, I still expected one loss so there it is. No more allowed.
Obvious things...
Denard injury equals game over...anyone who thought Denard wasn't our best choice at QB received their answer tonight.
DG is the starter next year.
We really need Treadwell in this class.
I was only half watching after some point but it seemed like we gave up a bit?
2008 sucked.
But if we win out and Nebraska craps a game away, we go to Indy. So let's lick our wounds and take care of business the rest of the way. It's 3 softies and then beat Ohio.
I dunno if I'd call NWU a softie. Even if so, nobody's a softie if we can't get in the endzone (even when we had Denard).
If Robinson can't go, none of these upcoming opponents are softies. Iowa isn't playing well but they won at MSU, and our offense without Robinson is a poor man's MSU.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
ONLY play Bellomy next week. Kid needs some fucking reps.
and.....the tigers are choking.
FUCK YOU ILL VENT WHERE I WANT
I dont know what to say more than that. I cannot believe that they would continue to go with Bellomy. Poor kid was thrown to the wolves.
Well it did not even look good as Denard ran to the locker room after the game. His arm was limp. I am scared guys, i am scared. "Hold me Richard!"
The program made some $$$$$. Night games!!!!
No they didn't.
I didn't notice that our defense imploded against a very good offense. We gave up a couple drives.
Our offense =Denard trying to do stuff that is good while the coaching staff is busy screwing everything up. Without him, it is just the coaching staff screwing everything up with an assist from our obviously in over his head and not very talented backup QB. He is probably a nice young man though.
I had more confidence in Sheridan.
And next year is going to be TERRIBLE.
You still are a douche for ragging on players, even if you say something stupid like "well, I'm sure he is a nice guy" at the end of your post.
No. I am not. Asserting that someone who makes the choice to do something (play football for a major program) with full knowledge that doing so will put him on national tv and subject him to high levels of criticism and scrutiny for his play is "in over his head" (in other words, is not ready to play) or "not very talented" (in other words, may not be good enough to play at this level) is 100% fair game and does not make me (or anyone) "a douche." Personal attacks or unfair insults are not cool, I agree. Fans cross the line all the time and it is not okay. But these are simple observations about the game itself that happen to be true (or at least appear to be true as of today).
really going to get shut out two games in a row in the damn world series????
yes yes they are. fuck
NOTRE DAME IS SO OVERRATED!!!!!!!!11111!!!!1111!!!!!!
THAT was our backup plan if Denard got hurt?
Worst Oline you've ever seen? Do you even watch the game? The pass protection in the first half was excellent. Denard had ALL day to throw the ball. The problem was Nebraska KNEW Bellomy had nothing, and they were bringing the house. Borges play calling didn't help much. It had nothing to do with the Oline. If Denard can't go Devin needs to start getting reps in practice at QB bottom line. Bellomy is not a division 1 capable QB at this point bottom line. But, lets not give up hope. Nebraska will not win out, and we still have a chance at a Big 10 title game bid.
Without Toussaint being able to perform like last year, our offense is one-dimensional.
Denard all the time. Remember Toussaint got 1000+ yard last year. He doesn't have it this year.
It reminds me of the offense 2 years ago, where defenses realize that if you blitz Denard it's game over.
Toussaint got 138 yards against Nebraska last year.
What in the fuckity fuck happened to Fitz? I have never seen a more dramatic regression than him...he just doesn't have it this year. At all. Not even a little. He's making all the wrong moves and not pushing forward with his runs. It's not all the oline, some of it is just poor running. Bellomy never had a chance today.
Maybe last year was a fluke.
But you're right -- Toussaint is simply not productive this year.
Where is Fred Jackson in all this? He's the running back coach. Why is it we never hear any complaints about his coaching of this RB squad?
Michigan's offense going into the fetal postion after Denard went down or Notre Dame housing Oklahoma? Honestly, for me it's a toos up.
At least the defense was solid, particularly considering how little offensive output there was post-Denard.
Any other positive takeaways?
too lazy to look up but believe Gibbons is 12/14 on the year, which includes the 52 yarder tonight.
How has our offense regressed so much from both last year, and the past three or four games? From Fitz not being able to move, to Rawls not coming in more and developing, from Denard's passing (and Borges' play calling for Denard) to Denard's inability to consistently run like has. It seems like he's floundering, trying to find an identity in this offense (even though he already had one).
I thought the o-line sucked at run blocking all game. Same as always... Hard to do anything when the line gets pushed back in your face every play.
I don't know if we've regressed so much as that we just aren't that talented. David Molk was the best center in the country; Junior Hemingway, time and again, came up big for us in the passing game; and Kevin Koger was a versatile TE who could both block and receive (unike our current group of TEs). We haven't been able to replace them. We have paper-thin depth across the board and, aside from Denard, not a whole lot of game-breaking talents.
This is our yearly not try game. It's cool. No worries.
you mean DOOM?
Because they definitely tried, but were woefully unable to do anything. The D tried pretty damn hard, but eventually succombed to an honestly good O that was on the field for pretty much teh entire 2nd half. And losing your all-star only-viable-option at QB on an innocent tackle/fall seems more like DOOM than anything about not trying hard enough. The universe was conspiring against M today.
Didnt have major issue with defense. That part of the game is part emotion. When you see you have no chance on offense you are going to mentally sag by nature. You play 95% rather than 100% even if subconsciously and you get beat on defense. Remember our defense was not considered a strength coming into the year - all the playmakers on the line were gone, and we lost our best CB in game 1. They have overachieved and I wont complain about them any game. They will need to carry the team next year as we have either frosh Shane or Bellomy starting all year (gulp).
I really hope hope denard doesn't have a ulnar nerve injury, I have had surgery to move my ulnar nerve in both arms and I can tell all of you he will not be back this year if this is the case, Please have compasion for the kid.
I pitched in the B1G for 5 years while needing an ulnar nerve translation. You can play on it and put off surgery in some cases.
You do not do an Ulnar nerve transposition for trauma. Trust me I do hand surgery.
You're talking apples and oranges. Ulnar transposition for compression syndrome is completely different than a zinger of the nerve. He'll be back for next week.
And this is why I love Michigan. Plenty of docs around the threads. If this was an Ohio State thread they'd think ulnar nerve was open heart surgery.
well fuck the world
But next year concerns me more. I can't see how we will be successful unless Morris is immediately ready to go. I know Bellomy was put in a bad spot (night game, Nebraska, etc.) but as a redshirt freshman, he has had two years to learn the offense and Borges didn't trust him either. Plus, if all Nebraska had to do was blitz every down to contain the offense, what does that say about the offense in future years?
If Al doesn't trust Denard and Bellomy, who's left? Clearly it would be Gardner, but he was nowhere to be found because we needed his 6-5 frame to get outjumped for a ball in the endzone. If Morris isn't ready, Devin HAS to be the guy who is the stopgap next year or it won't be pretty.
It was dispicable before Denard got hurt, and it was dispicable after. Just in a different way. We haven't scored a touchdown in 8 fucking quarters.
Yet we still won the game last week.
Chill out.
Defense DID NOT implode, were playing younger guys throughout the 4th. Bellomy looks very bad. Devin should have gotten some snaps if they actually still even consider him a QB. Fitz and Smith are nothing special. Really wanted to see Rawls tonight, I can bet he is very frustrated with his lack of carries. Nebraska has @Michigan State next week and Penn State in two weeks, they will lose another Big Ten game, there is no doubt. I think Hoke knows that and just figured he would let Bellomy play out the game instead of risking Denard's health. I respect the hell out of him for that. With Minnesota, Northwestern (that looks very good), and Iowa the next three weeks - rest up, win out and it's all about BEATOHIO.
He really couldn't very well "risk" Denards' health, given Denard couldn't even hold a ball...
Motherfuwkinsopissedoffthatwewerenotpereparedtodealwithahurtdenardwhytheyfuckwouldyounotbepreparfedforwhendenardgetshurtwtfwtfwtfareyoukiddingme?!?
It could be worse. We will get better. The sun will come up in the morning. Life.Will.Go.On. Go Blue
Yeah...no shit. What's your point?
The point is that everyone needs to relax a bit. But I understand that this is a venting thread so I apologize for not freaking out.
ARRRGHHH!!! FIRE BORGES!!! FIRE BRANDON!!! DENARD IS A PUNK FOR NOT COMING BACK IN THE GAME!!! FIRE HIS NERVES!!! BELLOMY SUCKS @$$!!! AAARRRRRGGGGG!!!! *Epic fist shake at the imaginary football gods* (is that better?)
Get a different hobby or go hang out in an AOL chatroom. Telling people to breath on a mgovent thread is like putting your hand in a blender on puree.
Well, he could still do that... You listening?
Everyone bitching about Bellomy, how many schools across the country would fair well if their starting QB went out? In all reality he should be 3rd on the depth chart! If Martinez goes out we win and Nebraska's offense looks the same. Give the kid a break!
OSU led a giant comeback against Purdue with their backup. Yeah, Purdue, but still high pressure.
No one's saying Bellomy had to come in and be Denard. But three picks and starting 0-10 is inexcusable.
Going three for 16 for 38 yards and three interceptions is a far cry from even doing mediocre. Most people would expect the backup quarterback to be at least serviceable in the game. He was terrible
ND seems to be doing ok with a mix of qbs when needed. Listen its about preparation. Obviously not happening at the level required.
My favorite part of the second half was when I caught my nuts in the zipper.
Damn ... Summed it up well
I needed that laugh badly!
Well now I'm afraid the dog and cat will not be able to recover from what I just yelled at the TV.
1. Bellomy really does not look like a plan B. someone needs to get enough reps to be a viable QB the next time Denard goes down.
2. Borges is frustrating. Even before Denard was hurt, the play-calling was as predictable as last week. I excuse not to have had 2-3 scores before halftime. Including at least one if those touchdowny things.
3. Big test of coaching staff now. We are much better than our next three opponents. Need to have a gamepllan that gives us a chance of success.
Defense was tired after all the tree and outs
Per Hoke on post game show DR hurt his nerve again and couldn't feel the football well in his hand. It did get better at the end of the game.
Major concern is that we've heard how good Bellomy has looked in practice, much like how we heard before the season that Denard had improved as a passer. I'm worried that our QB coach (who also moonlights as our OC) is blowing smoke because he's not a very good coach. And with no improvement, that makes me extremely worried for our offensive future. Defense should be fine, but we will be in trouble on offense.
I agree with you but what do you expect them to say? Denard still throws off the back foot and we're hoping for a 50% pass completion ratio and Bellamy can't throw more than 20 yards down the field?
True enough, but when we see it with our own eyes that Denard has not improved and Bellomy is clearly not ready to help this team, then you have to wonder if Borges is teaching well enough. I think most of us would agree that he is not and that's such an interesting contrast with our defense where we have seem players make tremendous improvement under Mattison.
Mattison is elite and Borges is just a throwaway coordinator - you can find a Borges at 50 other schools. That said it doesnt change the talent level - DRob is an athlete playing QB who can excel against moderate to poor defenses and suffer against top level defenses and Bellomy looks lost. Gardner also in my eyes has been a bust at QB as he showed nothing in his mop up duty the past two years. Shane will be the first QB recruited by this crew so if he doesnt develop you know you have a serious issue.
I hope ND wins out and goes to the NC game and gets smoked by Alabama 45-0, in the first half.
I was thinking the same thing earlier this evening.
I really wanted OU to smoke ND. I can't stand the thought of ND going undefeated and getting the nod to play for the NC. The only thing that would make up for that injustice would be 'Bama just spanking 'em.
And to make matters worse, I tried for umpteenth time to make decent marinara sauce and I just can't get the damn stuff to come out like Leonoro's in Charleston, WV. My wife loves their sauce and by comparison I'm just a freakin' loser when it comes to cooking. Where the hell is my cat ... I need to kick something. :-)
tl:dr
First off that's a lot of letters/words with no formatting, its hard to read. Secondly nobody cares that you're an OC for a semi-pro team, its already your signature, you don't need to point it out in most of your posts.
"And actually were not crappy we would actually beat this Michigan team hands down"
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
(breath)
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
Ohhhhh ok, sure, yep, mmmhmm.
That's pretty funny. I know you coach a semi-pro team but have you ever seen one play?
with the Flint Tropics and Will Ferrell?
No - wait - we are supposed to do the Denard semi-handoff every play because it makes ghost Denard the extra blocker...
like other teams don't watch tape
like I can't put a blitz to that side and stop it
Just going to say: Hoke's refusal to play hurry-up is ridiculous. "We're a defensive team, and we play to limit opponent possessions" works great until you're down 14 with 7 minutes left and you literally cannot win unless you hurry. I'd also say that half the reason our defense had so much trouble against Nebraska's hurry-up is because they don't play against it in practice.
Hope someone calls out the coaches in the post-game presser. Seriously, what was the game-plan there besides "Denard makes magic"? Why is Bellomy not even marginally decent? Three picks? Seriously? WTF.
Oh Hai TWIS glad you found us.....
The coaches forced Devin Gardner into the game almost every week at quarterback last year. They obviously saw something positive that caused the 2 QB at a time experimentation we saw. The guy appears to have all the physical tools and the recruiting ranking pedigree.
It certainly isn't his fault, but I've never seen Russell Bellomy do anything on or off the field and thought, "Boy, that guy looks like a D-1 QB."
There are obviously a combination of things going on with Gardner trying to play receiver but I can't imagine what is going on to make anyone remotely comfortable with Bellomy playing or decide he's the best option of those two under the circumstances we saw tonight.
Then again, I don't know how you decide that, after getting the ball back after a game-saving play by the defense down by 7 in the 4th quarter, now is the time to let Russ unleash the dragon. Was the plan really, "Fuck it, let this guy chuck it down the sideline and see what happens!"
"The guy appears to have all the physical tools" that means nothing, sorry. THat was used as a reason to be a WR as well. He has not showed at any position other than to be average at best. I cant remember one play over the past 2 years where I said "Gosh that kids going to be a star" when he did mop up play at QB. If he was progressing per his credentials and "tools" there is no way he would have been moved from QB the most important position in any team sport. It tells me the coaches have seen little of him other than raw athleticism at QB.
Why did they keep taking Denard out of games or moving him to WR last year so they could play Garnder at QB? You can't say, "Obviously he can't play the position and the coaches see that." and then justify why a year earlier in his development they were doing everything they could to bring him into games and throw the ball. And don't forget how many people were clamoring for him to replace Denard because he was a "real QB" who could "throw the ball downfield."
And seriously, pop in a tape or whatever of that drive against Illinois last year. If you think that guy looks anything but vastly superior to Russell Bellomy then you are high as fuck.
Ok did anyone else notice Denard's attitude after getting benched? Not with offense when they came off field....not coaching up Bellomy after first series?? WTF?!? Be a leader and not a whiner cause your hurt!! Plus Al needs to go...these seniors deserve more than his quitting attitude!! Wtf!!
(eye roll)
Got your eye roll...back at you with my two middle fingers raised in your direction!!!
You are just upset that you aren't the craziest person on this thread. Keep the good work, some day you'll make it to the top.
Well I see your two middle fingers, and back at you with a Bolivian Supreme.
[ED: Obviously this was intended to be a reply to Talcelm, who no can haz points]
Deducting points is fine but to post a snarky response after is really lame. You don't need to try so hard. Just do your job. kthnxbai
If I don't post a comment saying, "this is why you lost your points," then people email Brian and are all "WHY I NO HAZ POINTS?" Then Brian emails me to ask, and I have to try to remember why I nuked that particular individual.
When was Denard benched?
Hanging out with my Husker girlfriend and her husker friends. Would rather be hit by a bus, but when I told her I didn't want to hang out with anybody tonight she got all pissy and I gave in. I'm whipped.
nm
lol scott tenorman of the week.
I'll second this motion.
(eye roll)
Thanks.
Just stop. For the love of god, just stop.
Again....hahahahahahaha
Put the bottle down and go to bed.
We should have lined Toussaint up at QB to ease his running struggles, Bellomy at RG, Omameh at punter, and then had Roundtree run in circles at the fifty yard line, even between plays.
I think our coaches have done a pretty decent job, but with the exception of Mattison, they just don't seem to be a very smart bunch. Unexplainable burning of redshirts, the Gardner move to WR, terrible clock management, EXTREMELY questionable playcalling and personnel decisions, etc. How can you just watch Bellomy completely destroy the chance to win the game and just sit there with your arms crossed?
Expectation is for the position at Michigan. Which means we tell them what we want and we are supposed to get it. If not then its not our fault its the tradition. Blame high expectations whatever it may be. My point is that you will not get an emotionally honest answer from any of them save Mattison.
I was very concerned when he came in, based on his sub-.500 record, etc. I hope he can be a good CEO type coach, with excellent coordinators doing their job. Everything I have seen has confirmed my fears about Borges. Landing Mattison was a coup. I hope Hoke and Brandon have the good sense to abandon Borges before too much damage is done (no later after year four?), and I hope Hoke can be a good CEO type coach.
the Gardner move to WR
I don't have much of a gripe with this ... I think having Gardner at WR is a net plus ... if we could just get the ball to him. It looked really promising early on, but of late he seems to have disappeared. I'm not sure if that's because of the opposing defense or something on our side of the ledger sheet.
Fuck all this deliberating over which 2014 QB we want to offer. Offer all of them ASAP, and let's take like three.
Ah, no reason to be mad. Sucks, but what are you going to do? I don't blame Bellomy that much.
Bellomy's responsibility to be prepared < Borges/Hoke's responsibility to get him prepared. I won't lie, I thought we would beat this team. Not our night. Shit happens.
Hahahahaha
XD
thanks for cheering me up. Hoke should be fired? Hahahahaha
Under 15 years old, or not very intelligent.
We read your comment the first time.
I think that Borges needs to go, and I have never been a big fan of his.
I was impressed with the season we had last year, but as we know, a good/great year one is not a perfect indicator or success. Look at the first seasons at ND for Ty and Chuckles...
A poor mans Charlie Weis?!?!?! You may be the most irrational poster on mgoblog right now.
i always expect irrational venting after a night like this but you have taken it to a whole new level
The 98 is probably his birth year.
That's crap. For all we know Hoke and Borges privately tutor Bellomy every night (FTR, highly doubtful, just sayin'). It's on him to execute, and he didn't. Sure, they could've helped him out A LOT with playcalling, etc., but the second and third picks were totally on him (first one probably shouldn't have been ruled a pick at all). You just can't come out and shit the bed when you're the heir apparent.
The nerve is place in a tunnel that the nerve is supposed to glide through, the response to injury is to apply scar tissue to the site of the injury, if this is the case it will never glide through th cubital tunnel smoothly causing lose of feeling on a continous basis.
That is pretty much the beginning and the end of what happened. Bellomy was a little disappointing, but everything else that we saw became the likely outcome(s) of the game when Denard went down. He is the straw that stirs the drink, and he just wasn't on the field. That's it.
This.
We were poised to take a 10-7 lead. Offence was able to move the ball. Aside from the one drive with the busted coverage and the pick route, defence was strong.
Wheels fell off with Bellomy in. Pelini was able to send the house at him and Bellomy acted exactly like a frosh with few snaps on the road would.
Sure, there's got to be some blame somewhere, probably Borges, for not being able to get anything done without Denard, but at end of day, if Denard stays in, we probably win the game.
Whatever, is done. Need beat OSU probably but still a good shot at winning division.
Obviously the results on the field are pretty much entirely attributable to Bellomy playing instead of Denard, but acting like that was the either or situation forced upon the team isn't true.
Devin Gardner was the #1 dual-threat QB recruit in the country, he's been on campus three years (two with these coaches), and he played at QB in most games last year (even when Denard was healthy) and led a key TD drive at Illinois. I don't know how anyone can look at Bellomy and Gardner and decide Bellomy gives you a better chance to win. Or even how you could think getting some contribution from Gardner at WR is worth not being able to use him (apparently) if/when Denard gets hurt (while also not prepping him for next year when he will again clearly be the best option at the position).
I think there were some questionable play-calls (the chuck it deep after we got it back in the 4th quarter down 7 was pretty mind boggling) but the frustrating issue is that we ended up losing the fight with such a big round left in the chamber unused.
Anyone got that Bauserman @Nebraska throwing chart? I have a whole new perspective on that, now.
Those Bellomy zone read calls were almost as ill advised as using Threet and Sheridan in the option. At least try some I formation or some Rawls.
It's hard to get excited about next year's offense knowing we'll have a true freshman QB or Bellomy.
"that" being to not even consider Gardner for QB, just more evidence of Hoke's limitation. Yes he can recruit and seems like a guy that is truly there for his players, but his decision making is at times questionable... may be putting it mildly.
Tyrann Mathieu had a better week than UM... but seriously...
At the beginning of the season, when it was announced Devin would be playing WR, I thought he would still be the 2nd string QB. Then I saw the engaging interview with Devin where he was bragging about his blocking ability (LOL) but he was insistent on playing QB next year.
So, I thought ok... He's going to play some WR and come in at QB if Denard gets dinged. Then next year he'll play QB and hopefully stay healthy so Shane can red-shirt.
Then I thought about it more, and I thought to myself that doesn't make sense... Denard isn't playing QB at the next level. He's going to be an ATH in the draft. We should have been starting Devin at QB this year (and possibly last year) under the Borges system. Denard would be dangerous on jet sweeps, screens, etc... Plenty of ways to get him the ball and keep him in play on 80% of the offensive snaps.
Also, this year was kind of a mulligan. We have Bama to start and a meh schedule in a meh conference. Playing towards the future with Gardner at QB, makes more sense than a run at a B1G conference championship. It's like Hoke put all his money on Denard and his legs. The O has been atrocious the last two games (including the 6 quarters Denard played). Not to mention, the turnover debacle in South Bend.
The O is a mess right now and next year doesn't bode well for us. Borges has to be called out. With Denard being a runner, Bellomy has to be ready to play. The risk of injury however minor will cause Denard to miss snaps. I think tonight proved he wasn't ready despite being in the system 2yrs. The unimaginative play calling is also a concern. Throw in the questionable personnel packages (last week Funchess/Gardner absent on 3rd and Goals, what the Dileo this week?, hey this Rawls guys can grind, etc...). This is the same guy that called the Vincent Smith halfback pass @ ND... We don't have typical UM or Borges system talent right now (especially at WR), but there are plenty of teams that do more with less. Borges needs to be able to adapt to his personnel. Borges has to be held accountable.
Hats off the D - they were on the field the entire 2nd half and they did their job in the worst of situations.
Honestly, that was the worst QB performance I have ever watched. Nick Sheridan could have done better. How is that our best option at back-up QB? There is ZERO excuse for that.
No B1G this year.. Maybe if we win out and little brother beats nebreska.. But you can thank Denard and Russ for the game... i am so damn furious. I hope hoke runs the shit out of them monday
I am very sure he hates losing.
You want him to cry on the sidelines?
After games he goes back to his office and points at losing. With both fingers.
Moronic post of the night

Yeah...it's Denard's fault he got hurt.
put him in for a few runs here and there maybe.. He does not have to throw the ball he could of done a little bit for being such a hesiman hopeful

How many points did we have before Denard went out? How many did we score against MSU with Denard in the whole game? How about at ND as Al called the Smith throw or the play-actions? This offense is terrible largely because of Borges and mitigated only a bit by Denard's talent.
In time we will all look back on Denard's senior year, which was remarkably injury-free and shared with senior talent at the skill positions, and stand aghast at how we could fail to score TDs in three (so far) games. Borges is a problem.
This is it. You are 100% spot on. Shut the thread down,
Borges is most decidedly NOT the problem, and anyone that promotes that theory is only displaying their utter ignorance of what makes an offense work.
Michigan's offensive issues stem from a woefully untalented and underperforming OLine. It's very difficult, to impossible, to have an effective offense when your OL cannot block your base running game effectively. When you run the ball well, the other team has to adjust to stop it, and then everything opens up. When you cannot, the opposoing defense is able to stay it their base set and don't need to take chances.
Again guys, this is a very simple issue that everyone is over complicating in their zeal to find a scapegoat. Why do you think Hoke has been recruiting the OL so hard? Ya think it might be because Michigan's OL is weak, and even with "veteran" players is underperforming?
What did everyone expect? We took a shitty Michigan State team down to a last second field goal and justified it by saying "uhhhhh MSU must have played really fantastic today!" What'd you want, to get tagged by Stanford in the Rose Bowl?
A few things
1. It wasn't going well prior to Denard going out. The offense looked like sh*t even with Denard in, granted better, but still pretty bad. We have no push up front. We couldn't run the ball. We weren't moving the ball with much consistency and didn't get any TDs. Heck we haven't scored a TD in two games.
2. This game exposed a LOT of our weaknesses. If you take away the underneath throws not only can we not beat you deep but we can't run the football on you either making our offense unable to move the ball. We get no push up front from the offensive line. We can't get a pash rush from our front four. Our secondary is not that great. And, our recievers aren't that good either.
3. Why didn't they put Garnder in? I would like an explanation. I'm not saying I know more than the coach, maybe they saw something in practice, but I want to understand their thinking. At some point, what could it hurt? Are we really worried about Bellomy's psyche? Isn't it the coache's job to play the best players? I've heard them say Gardner is our backup QB, so why not put him in once we realized Denard wasn't coming back and Bellomy was ineffective?
4. At least we get Minnesota next week, then again it's on the road, ugh.
5. Why is there such a big discrepency in our point outputs from game to game?
6. If Denard doesn't come back, can we expect to beat Iowa or Northwestern?...we do get them both at home.
7. This makes me really nervous for next year. Our defense will improve, but we lose some of our offensive line, maybe Lewan, and Denard. Can we move the ball without Denard, especially assuming we won't have a great running game (assumption there since we don't have one now)?
OK indulgence in the rant now over. I still love our coaches and have faith in Hoke et al. to right the ship. In all honesty I expected us to be 8-4 this year and we are looking the part of an 8-4 team. I also expected us to be in a rebuilding mode next year transitioning from Denard not being there. And, I expect us to blow up in 2014. All that still seems likely. Lets hang on to Conley, land Green & Treadwell, wake up tomorrow and get back to work.
Man I can't wait until we have some real talent and depth on both sides of the ball again.
would be helpful as well.
How in the world does Bellomy even got a full ride scholarship to Michigan? Who scouted this kid? He a faster running version of Nick Sheridan. He was
God awful.
Without Denard there are NO Playmakers on this offense. Denard IS the offense. What will next year look like?
This oline is the opposite of what Hoke preaches. No toughness or physicality. They can't manhandle anyone. It's shocking how bad the running game looks. Take away Denard and there is NO
Running game. No one took a leadership role and stepped up and made a damn play.
But back to my main point, how the hell did Bellomy end up at the winningest college program of all time?
Wow they really should disable or moderate all new thread posts for 4 hours after a loss give peopl time to get over the butthurt and disappointment. This thread is fail and looks like something that can be found on RCMB. Go to bed, post tomorrow when youve had a chance to contemplate the fact that we are changing to O from what it was, and that going 11-2 last year has completely distorted some peoples logic concering the rethink of a teams playstyle and the time table involved. Next year will be a better benchmark on the direction of the program.
Look at me! I am the prime minister of England!
I am the chancellor of the Illuminati so go make me a coffee
*whine start:
How is this troling merely saying tomorrow after were sober/less upset would be a better time for a vent thread when were not shooting from the hip
*Whine End
ok I get it the mods are just as emo as the OMGzombii apocolypse crowd. I retract my last posts on the ground that logic has ceased to exist.
For the last time, we don't moderate individual comments.
With that said, we ARE moderating the board. I'd love to go to bed after a long evening out, but instead I'm reading 98's bullshit and trying to devise an appropriate punishment (my thought: Spanish Inquisition).
