I'd have rather had Beth Mowins and Pam Ward tag-team the announcing duties than listen to those jokers.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
Mike Patrick and that other shit sipper have moved to the top of the worst announcers list.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Honestly, the worst announcing I've ever heard. And I don't even mind Pam Ward.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:44 PM ^
the way they were talking up Minn it felt like we we're down 14 rather than up 14

October 5th, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
Tell me it wasn't hilarious when they were like "Gardner has a 57% completion rate so far against some bad opponents and that's continued today.....uh, he's 11 of 14."
Gardner wasn't super-precise but I think I'll take 11 of 14 or whatever he finished with.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:52 PM ^
76%, 235, and 13.8 ave for Gardner
October 5th, 2013 at 6:55 PM ^
He defended his comment afterwards saying "uhh.. he's 11/14. But a lot of those have been off the mark."
COMEON MAANNNN
October 5th, 2013 at 7:25 PM ^
Gardner was off the mark. He has been throwing behind receivers all year, even before Akron.
Having said that, the announcing was bad.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
They way they called that game you would have thought we were a bunch of D-III players going against an NFL All-Star team
October 5th, 2013 at 7:04 PM ^
Is apparently Johnny Manziel 2.0. And Gardner can't hit the side of a barn with his throws. It was like the announcer was watching his own son play QB for Minnesota, all the pride he had when they were down by two TD's. Ridiculous.
October 6th, 2013 at 6:14 AM ^
Manzeil 2.0? That's absurd. You're a moran. He's obviously Tebow 2.0.
October 6th, 2013 at 11:25 AM ^
I think they actually did compare him to tebow at some point.
Also, they called Taylor Lewan: Jake Lewong
October 5th, 2013 at 7:26 PM ^
first thing mentioned. I thought I've heard terrible announcing but man did they gobble on Minny's nob all game. Even when up by 18 their QB was the second coming (guys, did you know he played in a pro style offense in hs? They didn't mention that along with 3 other factoids). He played well! However, since when does it take being up by 30 for the announcers to say a single decent thing about your team? The previous two games really must have the nation waiting and wanting us to fall off a cliff. My jebus was that horrible to listen to.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:30 PM ^
That Countess pick was a thing of beauty, and a terrible pass.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:34 PM ^
NO TURNOVERS! RUNNING BACKS DIDN'T HAVE 10000 TFLs!
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
The only thing I care about today is NO TURNOVERS!!!!!!!!!
October 5th, 2013 at 6:54 PM ^
Agree... nothing to see here... bring on PSU. I'm truly scared of Indiana BTW. They will be different look. Let down look ahead in that one. But bring on PSU for now. With no turnovers all things are possible.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:35 PM ^
... it's amazing what happens when you don't turn the ball over. Running game is still horrible.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
Not great yet, but I thought the running game was much improved. No auto TFL on every other run. Got something to work with there.
October 5th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
was better, they were running into a stacked box at times though.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:35 PM ^
Funchess is a WR right now. Get the pass catching ability without the blowing up running plays because of blocking issues.
October 5th, 2013 at 8:43 PM ^
The Funchise was easily the number one star of the game. Guy was a force out there. It was also nice to see Chesson have a solid game.
October 6th, 2013 at 12:03 AM ^
the game and afterwards at dinner chesson was there with his family. dude is tall!
October 5th, 2013 at 6:36 PM ^
I'm putting this here because I took offense. Mike Patrick needs a history lesson. That is all.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
Run game is much improved. Compared to prior results at least.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
I had fun being a mod. Especially at the end with all the Jake _________ comments.
October 5th, 2013 at 7:52 PM ^
...JAKE.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
Great move with Funchess out wide....he will be a mismatch year long, a slower version of Calvin Johnson! Same size
October 5th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
Offense snowflake: meh
October 5th, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
Meh? 35 points on a very conservative game plan and pretty much being able to pound it besides the last drive? That's a win for this team at this point.
October 5th, 2013 at 7:22 PM ^
Eh. Running game was average to bad. Receivers (including Funchess) were great. QB average. Line play average to bad.
October 5th, 2013 at 7:29 PM ^
Why don't you root for another team?
October 5th, 2013 at 9:08 PM ^
The final score was nice but it was a close game and Minnesota got dominated by Iowa the week before at home. What is wrong with stating the obvious - this was an average performance with the main possitive being no turnovers.
Gardner had a good game statisitcally but if you watched the game you know that many or most of those throws were off target and took great catches for them to be completitions.
I think Fitz had his best game but the offensive line is still suspect - especially in run blocking. Bryant had a lot of trouble out there at LG - he was beat multiple times which I guess you can expect with his inexperience. Without watching the tape it looked like Glasgow was an improvement over Miller.
We are 5-0 but I am not comfortable with any of our remaining games.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:51 PM ^
The team won by 4 touchdowns. If that's not good enough for you, get bent.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:47 PM ^
was that before or after Minnesota never had a lead? and was never within a td in the second half aftwr our opening drive...
October 6th, 2013 at 11:13 AM ^
No, I'll continuing rooting for Michigan. They've been my team since I was five, and I'm an alum.
Thanks for your suggestion, though.
October 6th, 2013 at 1:23 AM ^
Touchdowns on 5 of 8 drives.
October 6th, 2013 at 11:43 AM ^
5 touchdowns on 8 possesions with no turnovers. Take that rate on an average game and number of possesions (which is what, 12 possesions?) and you get 7.5 touchdowns a game....seems pretty damn good to me. Yes it was sloppy, but I'll take it.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:38 PM ^
Any word on how severe the injuries were to Kalis and Pipkins?
October 5th, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
Kalis went back into the game...
October 5th, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
Kalis was back out there for the last offensive TD
October 5th, 2013 at 6:43 PM ^
Great news about Kalis. Michigan can probably be fine without Pipkins against PSU, but we need him for the Michigan State game.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Funchess needs to be targeted at least 10 times a game from now on.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Borges showed responsiveness to turnovers. Let Gardner get into a rhythm early in the game. Playcalling not perfect, but Borges is clearly moving in the right direction. Gotta keep moving, though.
OL with Kalis back will be much, much better than the past few weeks.
Good to have a comfortable offensive win.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:41 PM ^
This only worked because the run game could plausibly move the ball.
October 6th, 2013 at 1:25 AM ^
That's kinda the point.
"Oh, the running game is working? Good. Now we can let our QB get into a rhythm." -Al
October 5th, 2013 at 6:51 PM ^
Here's something I've noticed a lot this year: the team looks a lot different once they've finished running Al's scripted plays. The scripts actually work pretty well, and the players clearly execute well (Gardner's first drive against UConn was really sharp, for example), but then things change. Some of it is adjustments, some of it is execution, but it's a lot different.
I don't know that it's necessarily bad--part of a script's purpose is to force the defense to show what it is doing, so that adjustments can be made--but sometimes it is disappointing to see early promise erased later on in the game.
October 5th, 2013 at 6:42 PM ^
Dear MGoBlog: It is now safe to come back inside off of that ledge you have all been living on. The sky is not falling. The team will continue to grow. Devin Garnder can manage a game against an inferior team. That is all...
October 5th, 2013 at 6:42 PM ^
Penalties. And Kalis came back. Pips injury didn't look good. Any word?
