Official Saturday Morning Gameday Thread
Good morning all! It's time for some football. What's everyone eating, drinking, watching on this fine fall morning? What are the plans for the game? Discuss. GO BLUE!
I've got the cofffee on, beer cold and the house to myself today for the game. I'm happy.

On my way to the cider mill, getting the donuts and cider, then I'm going to put a 1/5 of captian morgans in a pot with the gallon of cider turn the heat up throw in some cinnimman sticks.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:16 AM ^
That's a good idea...I may do the same.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:29 AM ^
Enjoy, Sir! That sounds wonderous.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:38 AM ^
Clarification: By 1/5 you mean, one (1) fifth? Or 1/5 of 1 fifth?
September 25th, 2010 at 8:46 AM ^
I mean 1 hole fifth, like the hole bottle of captian morgans to 1 gallon of cider.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:03 AM ^
Got it. Thank you sir -- I am going to make this this morning.
September 25th, 2010 at 10:00 AM ^
So I take it I won't be seeing you at Flanagans tonight, boner?
September 25th, 2010 at 11:50 AM ^
Oktoberfest at John Ball Zoo and then Flanny's is a possibility, boner.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:16 AM ^

September 25th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
Insert W into the hole? That's dirty...
September 25th, 2010 at 9:22 AM ^
Where in Ann Arbor can you get good cider and donuts before the game? I'm coming up for the Iowa game and would love to do that. Thanks.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:34 AM ^
if it's still open
September 25th, 2010 at 9:34 AM ^
I'm just replying to get my point total off 666 it's freaking me out.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:57 AM ^
I pos'd you anyway, just to make sure you get far away from "devil-spawn" status.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:58 AM ^
I am partial to dumping a shot of Captain in 12 oz of Yuengling myself, but Captain and cider sounds really, really great.

taking daughter number two to her first Michigan game this week. (daughter number one was last week.) if this one pukes on the way up and we're pulled off to the side of 23n again, don't be afraid to honk.
September 25th, 2010 at 11:53 AM ^
number 1 the oldest or just your favorite?
Or is daughter number 1 a WR and is daughter number 2 a cornerback?
September 25th, 2010 at 8:16 AM ^
Good afternoon from Belgium. Rainy day today. Just had myself a BLT for lunch. Going to have some good Belgian beer for the game tonight. Looking forward to a Michigan win. GO BLUE!!

up looking for internet advice on how to get her to attack the ball. She's faster than all five of the other kids on the squad (all boys) but just hovers on the edge of play and never tries to tackle anyone (as in, getting the ball). Don't know if it's an artifact of our games in the yard defending our respective goals or if she just isn't all that aggressive. Any advice appreciated.
Going to try to sneak in some peeks at the game while I help our coop move to a new location this afternoon. . .
September 25th, 2010 at 8:56 AM ^
Same problem though, attack that ball!
She's a fun-loving kid, who wants to "share" so much with her teammates that she isn't aggressive enough.
The best thing we have found so far is to tell her that part of playing the game, is to pretend that her team is the "good guys" and that it's ok to pretend that the other team is the "bad guys".
Of course she's only 5, so the brass knuckles won't be issued til next year.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:20 AM ^
At age 5, my son wanted to kill the opponents in soccer and in our granola-eating town, wanting to win was sort of frowned upon! From what I've seen, for both boys and girls, aggressiveness is an innate quality. My daughter was the same as yours - athletically strong but not a lot of interest in scoring. My son, on the other hand, took it so seriously, you'd think every game was the World Cup.
Hopefully, the competitive fires will ignite and she'll get a taste of scoring and winning. Or not, and it will just be fun to run around with her friends.
Either way, Go Blue!
September 25th, 2010 at 9:29 AM ^
Its pretty simple actually. I have coached youth soccer for 6 years now. Does your daughter has a brother or sister? If so, just tell her to envision all the other team members as her brother and there is no way you would let your brother keep the ball from you...... Would you? It works everytime.
As for me, I have 2 games this morning (soccer), then is home with some beer and brats....
Hoping to see a lot of Fitz today......
Edit: Sorry read the rest of your post. So yes use the sibling angle......
September 25th, 2010 at 10:19 AM ^
If shes the fastest kid on the team, you should get her to look at girls lax.
My little sister was the same way thru about 6thgrade playing soccer (really fast but uninvolved), so I taught her to play catch and she started to play lax.
The game is a lot more wide open and faster, and there arent many scrums for possession. Anyways, she loves it. And colleges love her (so far i think last count was 16 D1 scholarships on the table)
September 25th, 2010 at 12:26 PM ^
will check it out!
September 25th, 2010 at 8:50 AM ^
Trying to sober up a bit this morning with Deep Dish from last night and some Coffee. But after reading the cider and captain that is starting to sound good.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
I am at home, going to do some work and then start pouring howebrew.
I just checked outside, and no way I can put up my gameday blow-ups. Too windy. I hope this does not harm the team's play.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:20 AM ^
Wind has really died down here in Grand Rapids since I got up around 7:30am.

Natural Light and Five O'Clock Vodka. GO BLUE
September 25th, 2010 at 9:59 AM ^
Aren't you a little young to know what 5 O'Clock Vodka is? I drank in high school too, but 5 O'Clock is a crime against humanity.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:05 AM ^
I'll be wandering around Chi bouncing around various drinking establishments watching as many games possible. Let's Go Blue, let's win this one easy.

Does anyone remember name of the Jay-Z song mentioned in the BTN special on Woodson last week? I want to add it to my pre-game playlist.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:19 AM ^
or did Herbie sound like a little school boy giggling at the end of his segment with Erin Andrews on ESPNU's College Gameday?
September 25th, 2010 at 9:19 AM ^
I have to work today. I will still be able to watch the game though.
But I am taping it anyways and when I get home I’m going to re-watch the game while enjoying Leinenkugel Oktoberfest and Woodford on the rocks.
Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!
September 25th, 2010 at 9:21 AM ^
and this is it:
how tate and devin do in a pocket that is not violently collapsing around them.
that is all.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
The boy has a football game I have to attend (official chain gang member so no bowing out) The DVR will be on. After the 5-6 year old game (funny shit watching those kids tackle each other), it will be whiskey all you want and no commericals.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:57 AM ^
5 and 6 year olds? That's really young. Way to start 'em early!
September 25th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
It seems young to me too but it is amazing how much they improve and how much they pick up. They just installed passing after 4 games and it actually works about 25% of the time. Some coaches take it a little too serious for the age group....even have some coaches skirting the weight and age limits...Saban wannabe's.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:29 AM ^
Brian Griese just called Jonas Mouton, "Jonas Mewton".
September 25th, 2010 at 11:02 AM ^
That's not how you say it?
September 25th, 2010 at 9:28 AM ^
Brian Griese previewing UM game on Gameday talking about Jonas "Myootin"...come on Brian. I would expect better from you--repeat after me: Moo Ton. Hope he clears that up before callitng the game.
