Everyone Murders

It looks as though the site the OP linked to will be running it (there's now a video screen, and while currently it's blacked out you can hear people moving around, etc., so it looks like it will "go live" at 6 pm).  So

  1. Click on the link, start the video, and open your popcorn as you watch the show.
  2. ?
  3. Profit.

"Several students including 4  football players" - so this is more than just the team.

"No one has been dismissed from the University." - so those 4 are only "being held out" as the Father said.

"Papers and homework that was written for them by others."

"Suspicions arose July 29th"

"Jack had a conversation with Brian yesterday, but we have great confidence in Brian, his staff, and they have been nothing but supportive"

My biggest question is what the connection is (if there is one) between Golson and the current situation.

I doubt much comes of this in relation to what most are saying. It never does. Plus, the internal investigation route has proven to be anything but honest lol. Players may miss a year, be gone for good or similar. They were already doing damage control while backing up during the PC.

Well the questions weren't exactly in depth. IDK, they seemed pretty forthright that impropriety was going on, and even acknowledged that it may go back further than the past few years. I wouldn't expect either of the two to just volunteer everything, but they weren't evasive.

deciding they needed to say something to make them feel important and to let people know "they are on it".

blah, blah, nothing, blah, blah, nothing, nothing, nothing.  Oh and Kelly didn't know anything he was devasted.

I thought that was absolutely worthless.  Why have a press conference if you don't intend to answer any questions?  Might as well just have a press release.  Every real question was answered with "I don't want to speculate" or "We aren't prepared to answer that at this time."

I also love how he emphasized that this was an academic issue, not an athletics issue.  Oh yeah?  You hold a press release every time students are investigated for cheating?

EDIT:  With the athletic director present.

They didn't say anything. They didn't even say when the alleged fraud occurred, even though the players obviously handed in suspicious papers at certain points in time. Papers are dated. It was all a big stonewall.

Did they really say no suspensions were coming or was it more of a "not with the team" thing for the current players like we are going through with York? The latter seems more likely. I would guess the 4 in question have access to a formal process for appeal etc. as this seems to be much more of a school/academic issue.

They basically said that other than holding them out of practice they weren't going to be punished until the investigation was complete.

Not really unreasonable considering the situation. I was actually a little surprised they confirm the 4 players by name even though it was all but confirmed when they weren't at practice.

Move on people.... They will keep winning like Ohio, FSU, SEC, etc,. We would suspend every player for at least 4 games.

At one point, Swarbrick flat-out lied. He said we shouldn't confuse these allegations (cheating) with past cases such as Golson's. But although ND never actually said what Golson did -- officially, they chalked it up to "academic issues" -- Golson himself has acknowledged that he cheated on a test. Swarbrick is a lying douche.

He acknowledged Golson's issue as what it was but said it wasn't fair to lump all academic issues together as "this type of issue" meaning academic dishonesty. He said there have been cases of players not meeting grades but that there hasn't been rampant cheating as the question made it sound.
