the official meltdown thread

Put your anger here. We won the 2005 series down the first game but damn that game was on a platter for us.

The in-between post discussed using the plural "boys" and "men" compared to "girls" at sporting events (which Wendyk5 doesn't appear to condemn).

Please neg me instead of Wendyk5 since this looks like a situation the mods (i.e. me) made.

...but "boys" is used FAR more now than it was 10-15 years ago.

You hear "let's go boys!" all the time in baseball, soccer and hockey. In fact, it would sound weird as hell if someone said "let's go men!"

In fact, boys is probably the most popular usage in men's sports.

I don't see your issue...if you said "Men's Basketball/Girls Basketball" and you were referring to the teams at Michigan, I'd understand. Men's is for college and up, Women's or Ladies is for college and up. Boys/Girls means high school and below.

But when you're saying "let's go (blank)"...all that goes out the window. Like I said, in baseball, soccer and hockey, "boys" is probably the only then you'll hear at ANY level.

Well, the game was not on a platter. It was just the tying run, but how we don't force Florida to have to win it in the bottom or extras is beyond me.

Fuck Gucci Mane for making that god damn Sierra Romero Appreciation Thread 2 days too early... jinxed her in the biggest moment.

Oh and please start Wagner tmrw. Pitching change issues really started the game off on the wrong foot leading to more errors.

It's frustrating when your best player stays put instead of aggressively going for extending the game. Don't know how to sugarcoat it--just a total baserunning fail. It happens. Just sucks on a stage like this.

Yes, she fucked up. She's also been our leader all year. No reason to dwell on it. Our other star has made it a habit to give up 3 early runs, yet people want to blame Romero.

Look - we're in the national fucking championship and we lost by one run. Let's not get carried away here. We played a very good team too.

It's not at all the huge blunder you make it, Bando. It was a short-hop to SS- she had to hesitate to see if it was caught. At that point you can shuffle off but it's totally possible that the SS would go to second then throw home, in which case she's toast. So you have to go on the throw to first, which she probably could have made it home, but that's also the best fielding team in the nation. All this happened in about 1 second. When it happened, I didn't think she would/could go. If it was a true ground ball, then yes. But the possibility of it being caught made it a difficult play.

Admittedly I have watched minmal softball, but caught the last few games and really admire the way the team plays and the game's strategery.

Seems most people thought Sierra should have gone home, but with no one out do you risk the runner on third? She goes and gets nailed at the plate and you have two out, runner on first. She held and we had one out runner on first and third, not a bad scenario. Obviously, if there was two outs, she's going hard. But no outs? Had Florida turned the double play and thrown Sierra out at home for a triple play, we'd be on the wrong end of the play of the day.

..and I love Sierra Romero..but that earlier appreciation thread was too soon. I left it alone earlier, but seriously...a tad too soon.

but I'm not gonna melt down. This team has heart and talent, and they know they have it in em.

4 bad innings, every hit was right at somebody. 2 almost homers. Didn't get any breaks in this one. Wagner gets the start, get those bats going, they'll be ok.

It's kind of disturbing how some feel the need to meltdown at the first sign of adversity.

Romero made a mistake. Shit happens. It's not the first time she's made one and it won't be the last.

Guess what?

The season ain't over yet. Not until this team says it is.

Dropped game one in 2005 as the 1 seed. Michigan was the undisputed #1 team all season long that year and was a game away from not making that claim solid as a diamond when they were shut out by a 5 seed in UCLA.

NOT a mistake by Romero...It was hit directly at the SS hard...she never got a chance to get off the base...

Should have been a 2-0 shutout victory if not more.  Hopefully Hutch has grown two eyes and a functioning brain regarding pitching.

I didnt know 1 player until about a week ago. Can't really meltdown. Huge baserunning error. Ramirez with 2 huge errors as well (she made up for it with the 2 RBIs because I think 2 runs were unearned off her mistakes not 100% on that though).

Softball isn't out of this, not by a mile. A tough mistake by Romero but after all she has accomplished how can you really be mad? We can easily win the next two. Keep em positive Hutch. Get em tomorrow.

even tougher if you heard the interview with Hutch during Sportscenter.

"I want us to play and be agressive".  She just froze at the wrong time.  Painful man.

This is an all time low for the board. A meltdown thread for a softball game that will be meaningless if Michigan wins 2 games in two nights. Really pathetic

mGrowOld

June 1st, 2015 at 10:51 PM ^

Sorry Moe but this doesnt even crack the Top 10 worst moments on the board.  Apparently you havent been inside one of the basketball threads when people start calling for Beilein to be fired after a player makes an ill-advised pass or misses a crucial shot.  Those are fun.

And trust me - all the Harbaugh love will go straight out the window the split second a player makes a boneheaded play that costs us a game.

Where's the official stay fucking calm thread for all of us who have been watching/following this team all year? We did not play near our best tonight, but we had a chance. We will have to play better tmrw and we will if we want to extend our season. I think we will win tmrw and I think we will get a complete game from Wagner.

The board was a lot more fun for Softball when the marks were busy with the "revenue sports" threads and recruiting.

Sorry to say. I really get a chuckle at the johnny-come-latelys who have watched this team play for one week and think they know it all and probably can't even name every pitcher on the roster.

If that makes me arrogant, then so be it.

Really makes me appreciate our threads during the regular season with the usual Softball crowd on here.

Man you're just so hardcore. Look at you following every nook and cranny about Michigan sports 24/7.

If you're gonna bitch and complain about how non-revenue sports get looked over on MGoBlog, then you better take the good with the bad when they're not looked over.

Would you really rather us not give a fuck? Either way you're still bitching about something.

When I see ignorant, negative comments tearing down players on this team in threads when 9/10 people didn't see that All-American and unanimous All-B1G player prior to uh, last week,  when they were smacking the opposition around, you bet your ass I'm gonna say something.

Outside of a few "lol @ non-revenue sport fandom" joke type comments and that troll in the game thread, who's degrading anyone?

I think people are peeved over some mental lapses and perceived common sense judgement calls costing the game.

This is nothing compared to basketball, hockey, football threads. No need to get so defensive about it especially in a thread designed for this crap.

Maybe since the guy was banned (thankfully) a few minutes ago, but that Mweasel jackass was constantly making negative comments and insulting Betsa and our hall of famer head coach in the game thread.

Not only that, but some in the thread acting like Betsa is some 2-week rookie that hadn't played before just boggles my mind.

Without her, it's doubtful Michigan is even in the World Series because she steamrolled through that regional as well as the regular season/B1G Tournament which propelled Michigan to the 3 seed and all the advantages that it has.
