Yup.  They have him listed as DL Coach, so maybe tack on the AHC to that.  Interesting tidbit from his bio was that he will have worked with Jack, John, and now Jim during his career.  Glad to see his official announcement.  I wonder if they extended his contract at all?

Two in one day?! This is a first. Maybe the staff will be announced much sooner!

I'm excited to have Mattison back. The defense should be strong with him and Durkin. Now let's see what Harbaugh can do with the offense.

have swag, what he is sorely lacking is an end-of-half scheme that does not result in a guaranteed touchdown.  Hopefully we can get that rectified a little bit.

Yeah this is just three of nine. It looks like they are starting from the top and going down. Started with DC, OC, S&C and then Mattison, who probably has some title along with DL coach. Associate HC or something like that.

I think Mattison is just spectacular. His enthusiasm is obvious and his love of Michigan apparent.

People were hard on the defense sometimes, and rightfully so, but they have been CLEARLY the class of the team since he got here.

What do you think the comfort level will be between Dj Durkin and Mattison in terms of Xs and Os, philosophy, etc.?  Mattison becomes an asst. at the place where he was the boss (on Defense anyway)?

Will this also cause some distraction amongst the players?

"Well this is how we did IT LAST YEAR", kind of thing from Greg or the players?

I am certain that being professionals will allow them to guide our teams' success!    Yet, put yourself in their shoes.....

"Michigan is a special place to me, and I am excited to be a part of Jim's staff," said Mattison. "This University and this community mean a lot to me and my family. Having the opportunity to continue coaching a group I've grown so close to is very special. I look forward to continuing my work with these young men."

Excellent news indeed, and I do like the continuity it brings within the staff as well in that he'll be able to continue to work with the defense. That, and he is a great recruiter on top of that, of course. EIther way, this is a great addition / retention (if you will) and keeping with this theme of the staff having coaching and recruiting prowess that would be tough to match.

I like how he and Durkin will be able to bounce things off each other. Though Durkin will need a bit bigger gut. Should make him an even better DC by the time Mattison hangs it up.
