Official Lions Thread (I guess other NFL games are welcome)

Submitted by Michigan4Life on

Game of the week, unbeaten Lions to face a suprising 4-1 49ers.  It's Jim Harbaugh's first return to Michigan as a NFL coach.

Lions may have a short week of preparation, but 49ers has to travel east so any advantages that both team may have is gone.  I think the Lions win this one because it's at Ford Field and the Lions want to keep up the momentum to keep pace with the undefeated Packers.

Interesting, if the playoff ended today before today's games, Lions would get #1 seed and NFC North due to SOS.

It's so nice to see the Lions-Niners game touted as the premier early game today.   We've had too many years of Fox burying our game in the 4th or 5th spot on the lineup card, almost embarrassed to even acknowledge our existence (and who can blame them!).

I moved to a new home 2  years ago, unfortunately in the heart of Packer country.  It had Dish Network satellite installed, so I just went with it.  I was a DirecTV subscriber for the preceding 8+ years and shelled out the bucks for the NFL Sunday Ticket so I could watch the Lions, thus I paid over $1000 to witness the worst stretch of professional football our modern day society has witnessed.   I'm now shut out with Dish Network.   NFL Network Red Zone is nice, but I like to see the whole game develop.   Plus, how can I be guaranteed that they'll switch to Best right before he busts a 80+ yard TD run?!    Maybe I'll head to a local watering hole and watch amongst the throngs of Packer fans.  I'll be relegated to a corner TV located right next to the bathroom, though.   Sucks.

I have no personal beef with Harbaugh but on this sports weekend from Hell, I really don't want to be reminded that he is a coaching God by seeing his team beat the Lions.

Got a bad feeling about this one. The Lions are obviously superior to San Fran but we are very due for a letdown after the emotional nature of the last three weeks.

I hate not being in Michigan.  Game of the week and I'm stuck in steeler country with no coverage.  Go to the bar and deal with insufferable pittsburgh fans or stream, that is the question...

The Lions have one of the least aggressive offenses in the NFL. Week in and week out, they seemed uninterested in going past the sticks on first and second down. The stubborn belief that they will get the running game going creates tons of 3rd & longs.

We are undefeated because we have a lot of talent and Schwartz has done a masterful job of changing the team culture. But I'm sorry, JS sucks as a gameday coach. I think Kansas City will be our first and last 14+ point win of the season. He is ridiculously conservative and will keep opponents in it.

So I'm a big NY Giants fan and I've never been able to watch the game out in Ann Arbor (but enjoying watching the Lions)... Lions-49ers is on FOX and Giants-Bills is on CBS. However, CBS has elected to show almost the entire country BESIDES Michigan that game. Here, we get no 1pm game and for some unknown reason... Texans at Ravens at 4:00.

Just look at how ridiculous the TV coverage map is:

Really bad first half. Just truly uninspiring football.

The Lions have a talent advantage over the Niners and it isn't even close. They need to start playing like it.

This felt like a game the Lions would lose since the second quarter on, even when they were winning. Atrocious offensive performance, amplified by the piss-poor playcalling.

Schwartz and Linehan think running the ball is a good idea. On 1st & 15, on 2nd & 12, on 3rd & 1. They're insane.

I suspected the Lions would come out flat today, but I didn't know the 49ers would look this mediocre. San Fran is not that good - I don't care what they're inflated record says. Acceptable team to lose to on the road, not at home.

An NFL team should NEVER let up over 200 yards rushing in a game.

Yeah, I come in here EVERY SUNDAY and post that this team is a fraud after every disappointing offensive or defensive series like this fuckstick does.

This is a very talented team. Offensive gameday coaching -- not so much.
