Cuz they took one look at Denard in them...

I actually really liked this jersey on the players where they had the thick shoulder stripes. You could only see about 4 of stripes.

Once they came out with the fan replicas with about 900 of them on the extra long sleeves, I though they looked really bad. Adidas fail all the way.

I sure hope not. The chrome helmets that exist aren't that great and usually feature metallic colors like gold or silver; not appropriate for Michigan. I prefer our regular-gloss helmets, thank you.

Though I will say that the matte helmets Michigan wore against South Carolina (with those horrible maize-numbered jerseys) were actually really cool. I would be ok with that as an alternate.

Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if that were the "surprise." And yeah, that would be disappointing if it were the permanent look.

Typical 60-minute (3-1/2 hour) football game features 11 minutes of game action.

Typical 9-inning (3-1/2 hour) baseball game features 18 minutes of game action.

NOTE: I LOVE Michigan football but I also love baseball. It's simply a funny comparison to me.

But in fairness...  not quite.

For those 18 minutes of "game action" in baseball, you get 17 minutes 15 seconds of:  "there's ballllll one.... striiiiike one.... fouuuuul, strike two.... fouuuuuled again, strike two..." -- meaning, watching the pitcher throw to the catcher, the batter either looks at it and blinks, or swings and misses, or hits it foul.  Over, and over, and over, and over.

For about 45 seconds, you get actual action -- guys running, ball in play, etc.

Football, at least, has 11 minutes of actual action -- all 22 guys in action at once, all the time.

Like -- how winded is a football player after a football game?  Compared to how winded is a baseball player?  Exactly.   How many famous footballs players shout, "Let's play two!"  Cuz if you do the sport right, you can't.

Here's hoping that the template isn't the same as what was leaked...although the quick flash of the jersey in the videos yesterday seemed to confirm Pro Combat Mach Speed Nike template.

We've already gotten a lot of details. Not only were there leaks, but there was at least one image in the promotional stuff of the white pants. We have a lot more information about the font now, so we know what that will look like. There will probably be a couple of details revealed that are unexpected, like placement of the jumpman logo and/or a special sock arrangement.

I'm not a fan of the new 4 or the new 2, and I think the "custom font for the school" concept is a bit silly, but given that Michigan got a custom font, I'm pleased that it's a block font that is pretty close to what we are familiar with. Contrast it, for example, with Florida's or one of the fonts Miami (YTM) was assigned by Nike.

What was leaked, especially the road whites.  All they did was just take exactly what we had last year and use the nike template.  Bring back maize pants!

All the more reason to believe that the white pants were, in fact, a Harbaugh request. Nike isn't the type of company to look at a new uniform innovation by its rival from the last season and say "yeah, let's make that our debut uniform with a key customer" if it's not something that the school itself drove for.

Given how un-promoted the original move to white pants was (kind of last minute, you know?) it's pretty obvious that it was something that came later on in the game. Like, when a new coach was hired.

FWIW I am ok with rotating the pants on the road, perhaps pulling the maize pants out for the OSU game. But no special unveiling is needed for that, since the maize pants already exist.

This could be the first post in any game thread unless UM opens up a 21-0 first quarter lead and wins 73-0.

The griping and "well now it's over" comments in the second quarter of every game make the threads impossible to read.

The tough thing about game days is that the board is flooded with one-line hottakes, many of which are produced by people with little or no board experience. Game threads are usually not worth the bother for me. And the snowflake threads can be a chore, especially after a bad game.

When voting was broken it was a real strain on the whole board.
