Skips the whole TCU/Baylor argument in general and forces the stupid Big 12 to make a conference championship game.

Can't possibly foresee this 4 team system sticking around much longer. Has to switch to 8 (5+3) format...

Sucks being a Michigan fan these days.

Edit:

I didn't notice that FSU only won by 2 points... I can also see a .01% chance that the committee drops FSU completely and goes with and both TCU/Baylor b/c the B12 >>> B1G = ACC.

so no speculation necessary there (as opposed to your "could it be" on the Big 12).

And I thought I read that the Big 12 had a very solid ranking and had performed well in the OOC, whereas the Big Ten is right near the bottom.

(meh, what I found was unexciting, but both sources (RPI, Sagarin) rank the Big 12 solidly above the Big Ten)

B1G vs PAC12 in the Rose.  SEC vs ACC in Sugar, though not sure how old school the latter is.

My hope is they excuse the VT loss as an early season New QB New oline issue.  Of course there are still the unimpressive wins against mediocre conference teams, and that will be harder to overcome.  At some point the youth excuse wears thin.

I can't understand leaving FSU out of the playoff picture. While I understand that argument for it, how do you leave the lone undefeated team in the top ten, defending national champions, and a team on a 29 (!) game winning streak out of the top four? I know the wins haven't been as impressive as other teams but how do you tell the kids at FSU, sorry, I know you've won every game this season and every game for almost the last 2.5 years, but this other team with one loss is better than you? Again, I get that a ton of their games were close this year and strength of schedule compared to others yada yada, but damn, you can't blame them for the weak year some of the opponents on their schedule had. Okie St, Notre Dame, and Florida should usually be pretty dag gone good. Just feel like if FSU doesn't get in they got screwed.

1.  Bama

2.  Oregon

3.  OSU

4.  FSU

I have OSU leapfrogging FSU because it creates the traditional B1G/PAC Rose Bowl.  I see the committe going with OSU over TCU or Baylor for several reasons:

A.  It avoids the TCU/Baylor argument

B.  OSU travels a lot better than TCU/Baylor.   Much bigger fan base.  Lot more money.

C.  OSU has dealt with a lot and proven that they can still win, and win convincingly.  They're a hell of a team.  We lost our Heisman candidate starting QB in August, but still went 11-1 on the season.  Our backup set a number of records in the process.  Then we lost our backup, and our 3rd string QB just led the team to a 59-0 curb stomping of Wisconsin and a B1g  championship.  Show me one other team in the country who can do that.

To the people saying TCU has proven tougher than Ohio State, and i really hate tl talk positive about OSU.

Wisconsin was putting a WHOOPIN on LSU until losing their top two linemen.

Wisconsin has been dominant, and I don't give a damn what you say about their big ten schedule. They have been physical as all fuck. Their games are hard hitting

They lost to NW shortly after the LSU injuries, NW isn't bad at alll this year, not great, but not terrible.

They have put up massive points consistenly, and only Minnesota has came close to beating them, Jerry Kill has a decent fucking team right now in a hard to travel to climate.

Wisconsin had averaged 38 PPG this season before OSU, while holding opponents to 16 PPG

Ohio state just GOOSE EGGED their asses, and put 59 fucking points on the board.

TCU or Baylor would NEVER beat Wisconsin 59-0 on any given night.

And, they just fucking did it with their 3rd string QB, no matter how much of the talent the guy is, that is a fucking TEAM that deserves to play for championship.

TCU didn't even win it's h2h with Baylor, I know the "body of work" crap, but that's bullshit to have the same record yet be ahead without winning the head to head.  Body of work seems pretty fucking subjective anymore in the FBS.

None of these teams has beat anyone who beat anyone else (that was good). If they're playing this straight up it should be TCU just on the virtue of the quality of their loss being better than OSU's, as both teams had closer wins throughout the year tHan they should have, but TCU won convincingly more regularly.

I would put

Alabama

Oregon

FSU

OSU

I think they put

Alabama

Oregon

OSU

FSU

as that gets FSU close to home and OSU won't complain about playing in the Rose Bowl.

OSU is going to make the playoff after demolishing and shutting out a top-15 team with a third string QB, and we're going to probably hire Greg Schiano.

That's the world we live in.

...but I personally would leave out FSU.  Who have they played? The ACC is garbage.  If FSU is already ranked below some 1-loss teams, why can't they be ranked below others?  The question for the committee is to hypothetically match-up each of the teams and judge who's better.

So, they should take TCU, FSU, OSU, and BU and compare each against one another.  On a neutral field, FSU would be a dog against every other team.

First, there is no reason to take TCU over Baylor. None. Zero, zip, nada.  They played, and while Baylor had to come from behind, they racked up 782 yards on the #3 team in the country.

782.

And while they lost at WVU, they dominated that game, but lost b/c they turned it over three times to WVU's zero.

To me, it comes down to FSU vs. OSU.  Both played in weak conferences.  Neither beat anyone of any significance.  Sure, OSU lost a game, to a 6-6 Va. Tech squad.  Too bad the 'Noles didn't play the Hokies so there could be some comparison.   However, the Bucks' loss was in week two with a freshman QB and 4 new OL starters.

So, FSU is eliminated.  Then it's OSU v. the Big 12 teams.  I think Baylor and TCU are very evenly matched, and the Big 12 is stronger than the B1G.  So long, Bucks.

My personal preference is to put only conference champions in and use the conferences as elimination rounds, so I would leave out TCU, but the best four teams, in my opinion, are Alabama, Oregon, Baylor, and TCU.

If I'm on the committee, my four are:

  1. Alabama
  2. Oregon
  3. Baylor
  4. Ohio State

However, I might flop Baylor and Ohio State to get a B1G/Pac12 Rose Bowl. (/twists mustache)
