My thoughts:  Meh.

I liked the hidden 11 in the old logo, and hoped there would be one in this, but it's not terrible.

The second logo, a horizontal shortening, is awful and needs to be destroyed.

Your thoughts?

That could get confusing when you are talking about  the leader of the legends divison and  the leader of the leaders division meeting up in the conference championship to see who is the leader of the big ten which is really the big twelve.

Don't fret.  We will only have this logo for 6 weeks before Big Jim puts the pimp hand down and pulls 4 more teams into the  Big 10.

I must admit that it currently looks like a failed abortion.

the Big Ten went to work on their long-awaited redesign of thoroughbred horses.

You just know what happened.  The Big Ten Redesign Committee started with this:

And ended up with this:

With apologies to Sir Alec Issigonis...

It's simple, but looks too simple, something that probably could be created by anyone.

However, I understand the desire to make it easier to use with all forms of media, which it probably does better than any of the other, more intricate logos of the other conferences.

I hate arguing semantics on a blog.  That being said, while the terms are closely related, the article points out, at its core, that they are not the same.  This is such a stupid argument, yet I am powerless to stop typing and cede the last word...

I am willing to lose every point I have accrued on this website to make you realize your argument is wrong.  Is the connotation there?  Yes.  Is it the same thing? NO.  You've resorted to caps to validate your argument, let me supply you with the clinical definition.

fey [feɪ]

a. Having or displaying an otherworldly, magical, or fairylike aspect or quality.
b. Having visionary power; clairvoyant.
c. Appearing touched or crazy, as if under a spell.

The satire is differentiating the two terms while acknowledging that they are typically associated.  I'm glad to have gone on this tangeant with you, but I'm done arguing.  Can we at least agree that this is a stupid argument, and we probably both look a lot dumber for having it?

Bleaux, you and what you did there contribute to why some people can only stand so much of this board.

Way to take away the focus of the thread and get the last word in.  You must be quite proud.

The names and the new icon are light years beyond putrid.  They smack of over-thinking and half-assedness all at once.

I think it's a disappointment. I agree that a "hidden" 12 in there would've been cool. But now they put what looks like a 10 in Big? That doesn't make any sense.

Also, who is prepared to live in a world where the Big 10 has 12 teams and the Big 12 has 10 teams?

It's almost illegible...  And for the short-hand version, what's wrong with a simple B10?  I mean, other than that it's a vitamin?

In any case, it could be worse, but they're trying to do too much.

Also, now that I think of it, why in the name of all that is decent in the world would we bother to write out "ten" and "10"????

It makes some sense to write out "ten" and some other numeric symbols like, oh I don't know, 12(!)... but "ten" and "10" is just STUPIDLY REDUNDANT.  Why sneak in a number just for the sake of sneaking in a number?  If it doesn't make sense, don't do it.  Yes, we liked the "11" hidden in the old logo, but shit, we're adults, we'll get over it.
