Official Beat Ohio Pre-Game Thread

Submitted by jcouz on
I know it is still 7 hours until tip-off and I pretty much just finished drinking a few hours ago from last night. However, our hoops team has a chance to go to the BTT title game for the first time in 16 years with a win over OSU today. We are still playing for a possible #1 seed in the NCAA as well. This weekend is always a great appetizer for the first weekend of the NCAA tournament but it could be that much greater if we could beat Craft & Co. one more time and advance to tomorrow's championship game. Let's go boys. Win the game. Beat Ohio!

I'm nervous about the game today. OSU always plays great in the BTT and this is Crafts last shot at Michigan. Hopefully we wake up from yesterday

We're going to the B1G title game to play staee, I can feel it in my tiny little heart.

Final Four run from there.

As was discussed yesterday, every single time we've had to face OSU in the Big Ten Tournament, we've lost - twice in the semifinals and in the quarterfinals in every other case. Hopefully, the trend reverses today. That being said, we're now down to eight possible outcomes in the BTT and we're still a slight favorite with an estimated 29.25% chance to win it all (Ohio State, interestingly, is the least favored - 17.77% estimated chance to win).

That's because those teams are good and teams that are good usually win. You could probably randomly seed FA Cup style and get almost all the champions out of the top 12 ranked teams.

I'm not sure seeds really matter, especially since the tournament isn't reseeded so by the second week the advantage has often evaporated.

They have 2 competent players on offense. I'm not overly concerned if M can weather their run after ohio gets down 10+ in the second half

So many minutes until the game starts... arrrgggghhh..

Guess I'll finish GoT season 3.  Though I only have 1 more episode to go... Arrrggghh....

For any GoT fans, this is pretty funny.  HBO still has it unlisted on their YouTube page, so it's pretty new.  TV SERIES SPOILERS THROUGH SEASON 3!!!!

Just come out of it healthy and worry about the real Tourney! It's always good to beat Ohio but doubt being a 1 versus 2 seed next week is going to matter much.

So lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles who are Buckeyes. So I always enjoy a good Buckeye bashing session. Hope to see one again this afternoon! Go Blue! Go all the way! And end this 0-7 streak in the BTT!!

Boss wants us to work until 5 today. Safe to say I really don't care what he thinks :-D. Prolly head to this cigar bar in Sterling Heights for the game. I took off early to go to Yost last night. May have to put 70 hours in next week to make up for it. If we beat OSU it will be worth it though

I apologize if this is listed somewhere else, but does anyone have a short list of the games we could keep an eye on today that will affect our seeding?

Honestly, there aren't many.  Depending upon the source you choose to believe, most projections have Michigan on the 2-line, with Arizona and Florida being locks at #1 and Wichita State already crowned MVC champion.  So, you're looking for teams on the 2 and 3 lines to lose.  If the final #1 seed is available, the most likely team to win it would be the ACC tourney champ, if it's Virginia or Duke, or the B1G champ, if it's Michigan or Wisconsin.  So, here's your list:

Pitt vs. Virginia 1 PM
Duke vs. NC State 3 PM
Wisconsin vs. Sparty 4:05 PM

Go Blue!

Oh, I won't cheer for Sparty.  I may just cheer slightly more against Bo Ryan than against Tom Izzo tonight.  Besides, Izzo's got his team healthy and won't have to play weird guys, so they should be able to beat Michigan by like 150 points or something.  I think they'll set records.  I mean, weird guys, ya know???

good prep for the tourney, and this is not Thad Motta's Dad's Ohio squad.  I know KenPom is accurate over the long haul, but I am a bit surprised this is essentially pick 'em.
