Next year could be a totally different team. Possibly no Lidstrom or Homer, definitely no Stuart...that should open up quite a bit of cap space. I wonder if we'll take a run at Suter or someone like him

Parise, Alexander Semin, and maybe even Nash too. The problem with Suter is that, after beating the Wings, why would he want to go to the Wings? Nashville is clearly on the up and Detroit clearly on the down - he has a much better chance at a Cup with Nashville at this point.

Hopefully, if we don't pull of the comeback, Nashville gets shellacked in the next round. And given that Nashville will be spending the majority of their time trying to court Weber, and he might be willing to come here.

But I doubt we'll have a shot with Nash. Columbus is still hoping they can build a team around him, so to part with him it'll take an arm and a leg

I'm not saying we need to go back to the drawing board, but this team needs a new direction with a big name guy. The last month or 2 of this season was the absolute worst Wings hockey I've seen in a long time, which is why I'm not at all surprised by this series with Nashville. There is just something missing.

There will be some huge names out there this summer and I'm praying the Red Wings will be making one of the bigger moves.

I really don't think the wings are finished. Nashville has been outplayed for most of the series. Get it back to the D. Win and see what happens in game 7.

With a couple exceptions -- the ridiculous lack of discipline on the second goal jumps out -- this is nothing more than terrible luck. If we keep playing like this, we have a great shot of winning three in a row.  We have been as dominant as any team thus far.

Oh and PS, just once I want to hear a sportscaster acknowledge the role of luck.  "Well, team x played like garbage, but sometimes you hit on 20 and get an ace."

It just goes to show that you can win a series with only luck and goaltending.  Look at the stat lines -- unreal.  Nashville fans probably think their team is really good at hockey.

It's not easy listening to their fan base every day right now. 95% of them have no hockey knowledge (thus ignore the Wings dominated statlines) and just root against Detroit for spite.

Cannot wait to watch the Lions drop 40 on the Titans in September.

I just got home from the game. Im fucking sick as hell always seeing a goalie steal a series from us. Every year the Wings lose a series and all you hear is "The other team was lucky" or "There is nothing you can do about running into a hot goal tender". I say to hell with that. Can anyone remember a series the Wings have stolen? Ever? Why the hell can't we ever just go out and get a top 5 goalie that isn't on the down side of his damn career? And don't tell me J Howard is a top goalie. He is not.

"Why the hell can't we ever just go out and get a top 5 goalie that isn't on the down side of his damn career?"

We did for the 2001-2002, and it worked out pretty well.

I agree this does happen to us a lot though. It's just because we've had such stellar players for so long. Nobody is going to beat us without a hot goalie.
