I don't think Harvard stole a bid - the Ivy league looked like a 1-bid league anyway, and from what I've seen they were the higher at-large bid anyway.  If anything, Harvard winning helps UM because Yale has a less impressive profile for the NIT.

Wyoming winning is going to take a bid, though, so that does stink.

Maybe hope is not lost for Michigan's men's basketball team to continue playing during this post-season.

I’ve seen some predictions that have Michigan getting an NIT bid tonight. In one, I see Michigan as a 6 seed playing at defending NCAA champion Connecticut (if the Huskies lose to SMU in the AAC championship game). In another, I see Michigan as a 7 seed playing at Stanford  In a third, I see Michigan as a 7 seed playing at one of the four 2 seeds that include Old Dominion, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Richmond and Stanford.

The first would pit two schools that played in the last two NCAA championship games with much different squads, besides different results. The second would pit father (coach Johnny Dawkins) against son (player Aubrey Dawkins), plus adding the obligatory HARBAUGH effect.  If travel distance (and NFL rivalries) were going to be a consideration in that third situation, then it might mean that the Wolverines could earn a side trip to Lambeau Field.

If the NIT decides to pass on this season's Michigan team, and you're thirsting for some NIT memories, here's a chance to see when a season-ending win over Rutgers brought Michigan a championship.

I have all the games on my media server. I've watched the Kansas, Syracuse, Florida, VCU, and SDSU games many times. However, I still haven't re-watched the Louisville game. That game crushed me. We we're up big, Spike was going off, the Fab Five were going crazy in the stands ... it felt like my entire Michigan Basketball life was coming together (I was 5 in 1989 so I have no memory of that NC). Then, out of nowhere, Luke Hancock goes off, Burke has a clean block called a foul, Dieng and Chase Behanan are eating us up in the paint, and the game is over. I woke up on my kitchen floor with an empty bottle of Scotch next to me. That game took a piece of me with it.

Everything you say is true, but I had exactly the opposite feeling.  It was a great game--a game so fun to watch that even my most Sparty-Spartans agreed.  I was also so proud of that team-- a team that over-achieved.  There was so much joy (and memories) in that run, including the Louisville game.  I'm fine with National Championship runnerup--that was success.

I just knew that if Michigan won, that would be my story to retell. The same way people tell me about the '85 Bears (Bears fan obviously), or how older Michigan fans tell me about Glen Rice and their run. A championship would have filled that emptiness I had since my youth because the Fan Five couldn't finish the job. Spike would have been a legend for college basketball, not just Michigan Basketball. You just never know if you'll get to see your team ever play for a NC again.

I often wonder what would have happened if Hancock would have missed that shot.  Do we get the rebound and drive down and score?

We were very hot at that point in the game.  We may have had enough momentum to put the game out of reach and make Louisville abandon their inside game early.

That shot was the play of the game, as far as I am concerned.  We act like Trey's block "foul" was called with 50 seconds left in the game, but it was called with 5 minutes left.  There was time to recover.

I know Wisconsin is going to crap the bed today, plus Staee gets all the calls because Izzo whines like a little girl.

He's a disgusting little troll, but it's time we stopped underestimating him. Preseason, we talked at length about how depleted they would be this year. And here they are on the verge of another B1G tournament title and poised for a NCAA run.

Happy to see Sparty lose in the title game. Not that I like Bo and the Badgers much better, but unfortunately it's not possible for both of them to lose. It will be Michigan next year winning the Big Ten title game.
