It will be pretty interesting to see how Mouton and Ezeh fare in the NFL. I think it will be a pretty good barometer on the level of coaching they've received, and from a few stories (and what we all witnessed on TV) it wasn't much.

There were posts that Perry Dorrestein had signed with the Jets, and it was reported both on MGoBlue.com and in an article from his hometown paper, but I haven't seen his name on any of the transaction lists, even on the Jets' website (other free agents are already on their roster list), and a search of his name on that and the NFL website don't bring up anything. Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge about this? Was the statement premature? Certainly hope not.
And, of course, big congrats to Obi. Sorry he didn't get a chance to work with the new defensive coaches here. Hope the Redskins staff can bring out the best in him.

Great news for a great guy from a great university, where he was unfortunately subject to terrible coaching (for 3 of the 4 years he played). Hopefully he will now get some decent coaching and is finally able to realize the potential that so many see in him.
Is this not an indictment of GERG's, and even RichRod's, coaching of the defense? At present, two of last year's linebackers and one of last year's corners have signed - in whatever capacity - with NFL teams (Mouton with the Chargers, Ezeh with the Redskins, and Rogers with the Broncos). Consider further the current Michigan defensemen who may end up signing with an NFL team in the future: Mike Martin, Craig Roh, Cam Gordon, Kenny Demens, Ryan Van Bergen, and Will Campbell. (Not considered or included is Troy Woolfolk because he did not play in 2010 due to injury).
Based on the above, it is not unrealistic that half or more of the starting defense for 2010 will end up signing with an NFL team. Yet that talent finished 112th? Is that not an indictment?
No human on the planet will claim that the defensive coaching was good last year. Now why are you stirring the pot?

If no one believes that last year's defensive coaching was good, why would this be stirring the pot? Saying that Michigan had poor defensive coaching in 2010 is akin to saying water is wet.
How many UM starters do you think usually sign with NFL teams? Hint, it's close to 100%, plus the occasional reserve.
I was not trying to stir the pot. I should have directed my comment towards the Bare Cupboards theory, especially regarding the DBs. Those same cupboards are now being installed in the NFL's kitchen. As far as I can tell, the Bare Cupboards theory is not valid other than with respect to Carr's promise to Mallet not to recruit a second QB for the class of 2007 and Mallet's subsequent transfer in early 2008.

You might want to wait until Obi makes it, you know, past the first weeks (or days) of camp. Attending an NFL camp means almost nothing when you're talking about someone with the game experience Ezeh has -- they will give him a chance.
The Redskins next move won't be to hire Brian as a scout.

Good for him. I know people on here have liked bashing Ezeh the last few years and even though he's made some pulling out your hair plays I always felt Rich Rod gave up on him too quickly. It felt that he decided this guy doesn't fit the type of player I look for therefore I will not play him or try to make him better.
Also can't help but root for him too since my gf was close with his mom who is a professor somewhere or other.
Hope he makes the most of his opportunity.
