I may have missed this, so if I did apologies, but I just saw on ESPN that Obi Ezeh is one of 16 semi-finalists for this year's Butkus Award, aka Best Linebacker. Now, I would be shocked (shocked!) if he made it past the next round of elimination, and frankly I'm more than a little surprised he even made it this far, but good for him. Nice to see a dedicated Michigan man get some attention for his work.
Obi Ezeh: Award Contender
Obi seems to rack up the tackles, which is really the only meaningful linebacker stat, at least to most people.
I suppose you could correlate this with Graham being left off the other list because of lack of stats. Ezeh finds himself on a list with others (who deserve to be there) because he's accumulated a lot of stats.
Hey, maybe this is the start of an awesome second half revival. I'll look forward to him eating a running back tomorrow.
Running Backs are delicious.
for Running Backs are delicious; in response to Obi eating a running back tomorrow. I thought this was funny.
Yeah, Graham's up for the Lott as well.
Some fans created a Facebook group for his candidacy.
...just goes to show you how most of these awards' lists lack credibility. Usually, though, in the end the best guy wins. I just feel bad for Graham that he doesn't have any other DL and/or LB studs around him to draw enough attention so that his stats would be befitting of The Beast.
Maybe he can make next year's short list for the Nobel Peace Prize.
