Commencement will be televised on Fox2 and Ch4 locally. Fox coverage begins at 10am, Ch4 at 11am. So far I ahven't seen any TV listings for MSU's commencement next week.

Could you at least save my post and just put it up on it's own accord before deleting the post if you are.  I really don't want to have to type it again.  (unless that's too OT).  (I'm of course talking about saving the TL DR post not my political commentary).

That's what actually blew me away--walking through the entrance to our section and saying "Holy crap I can hardly see the turf!"  They had grads packed in there.

The energy was awesome and god help me I thought the Rawk music was a great addition.  I sorta thought, for a moment, "shouldn't they play something more stately?" but then when they changed to the more traditional processional warmup stuff I realized that the Beyonce et al was a good mood elevator while waiting.

I thought Granholm's speech was pretty bad (of course, she's just not as charismatic a speaker as Mary Sue and Obama) but as someone that doesn't really care either way (politically), I think all the Obama love was pretty justified. I mean, he's the President. That in itself at a commencement means there will be some complimenting both ways, regardless of who the Prez is.

In other words, who really cares

I just found it funny that saying Granholm's speech was awful (which it was) was bordering on too political, but saying Obama's speech was great (which it was at the point you said it), is not. Seems more political than a non-partisan assessment of how good a speech is. If that's even possible in cases like these.

But I got it now. There was some follow-up posting that wasn't right behind it, so I thought wrongly that you were replying to the post AFTER it. My bad. Yeah, the previous one qualifies. How did you know Obama's speech is good if you can't see it? Aren't the online feeds carrying the whole thing? Or just Obama?

I only caught the end. I didn't see any.

If he didn't make at least one "Go Blue" or "Hail to the Victors" reference I'm going to label his speech as EPIC FAIL.

I would've liked to have seen less of a diatribe on government and more of a focus on the graduates from what I saw.

Thought the speech was good but there were missed opportunities to talk about Michigan or address the graduates as, you know, graduates.  Most of his speech could have been for any audience, anywhere.  Timely topic, but I would have liked to see more of it tailored to those excellent young men and women in caps and gowns.

I'm disappointed, I truly wanted to see him throw a touchdown pass to Mary Sue in the north end zone and it just didn't happen.

He kind of made up for it with the "go blue," though. MSU and OSU both got shoved aside/dissed and ND wasn't even mentioned, so today is a good day.

You want them to awkwardly and embarasingly fumble and drop the football...it was the front page picture of Stanfield's goofy dropped ball that cost him the election vs. Trudeau.  It made him look like like a bumbling idiot.

While I would see this as a plus to catch Obama in a similarly awkward photo op, I would rather not see out team re-enact the same fumbles and dropsies.
