I dont know how much has been discussed about Weber on here, but I saw the article pop up on facebook today and thought it might cheer some of you who arent sure how to deal with the Harris decommit.

Thanks for posting. It would be nice to land him.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:51 PM ^
Thanks for the Joel Embiid.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:39 PM ^
Please, Joel, do as they say! Get off the babysitter! Don't throw your life away like this.
January 22nd, 2014 at 8:05 PM ^
Reminds me of another Mike... Mike Shaw. Except with better hands and a bit more weight/mass. Could be a great complement to the bigger backs, and develop into an eventual every down back.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:51 PM ^
but I'd still rather have Harris...
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:33 PM ^
you take a committment from Weber if he's willing and if Harris comes back into the fold you laugh at your riches.
January 22nd, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
Ah, sweet RB opulence.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:54 PM ^
Regardless of what happens, I like seeing how active he's been recruiting.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:54 PM ^
they could take 2 running backs in 2015. It would be nice to get both.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:59 PM ^
There was a discussion about it before Harris committed. Once he committed, it seemed like the coaches only wanted 1 RB.
Obviously things change over time so there is a chance the coaches are looking at 2 RBs now.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:07 PM ^
I can see that they might have only wanted one in '15 if they took one this year. Since it looks like they are not it makes sense to take two next year.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:09 PM ^
how strongly the coaches think we will get a RB in the 2014 class. The prospects of that happening seem to be getting weaker rather than stronger.
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:56 PM ^
on twitter. I understand it's a good idea to contact recruits and let them know your feelings on the twitter
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:02 PM ^
I'm almost 100% sure he was joking.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:04 PM ^
I am 103% sure he was joking.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:06 PM ^
Damn, you win.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:22 PM ^
It is joke
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:03 PM ^
Only contact them after they decommit.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:40 PM ^
I think you are joking

“He told me it was crazy that Michigan stopped recruiting me."
who was his primary recruiter before because if they are still on staff it doesn't bode well for the relationship between Nuss and them with this statement.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:10 PM ^
Borges. Rule number one in workplace blame is ALWAYS blame the guy who just left the company, no matter what.
Thanks, Borges.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:32 PM ^
Reminds me of the Russian official leaving office and giving his successor two letters to open when he's in deep trouble.
Sure enough he's in trouble and opens the first letter. It reads blame your predecessor for everything. It works.
Later down the road he's in a scandal again and opens the second letter. It reads, Sit down and write two letters.

Nice Traffic reference!
January 22nd, 2014 at 10:02 PM ^
Loved Traffic! It would be great to see Soderbergh get back to that level again.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:20 PM ^
Fred Jackson is the primary recruiter for the Detroit area.
Nuss might be saying that now, but it makes sense that we stopped recruiting him because at that time the coaches were only looking to have 1 RB in the 2015 class.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:29 PM ^
makes sense just an odd statement to make.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:35 PM ^
nope, it's good to make a kid feel like we'd be crazy not to want him. especially a kid from a pipeline that's slowing and diverting. and a kid who grew up an M fan.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:55 PM ^
it could've been said in a different way since its seems like the staff member who was recruiting him is still there. it's not like there is a whole new coaching staff there.
January 22nd, 2014 at 8:22 PM ^
I would guess that a decision to "stop recruiting" someone is not only made by the individual recruiter. Coach Jackson may have even wanted to keep recruiting him, who knows?
January 22nd, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
I know that's my point. The decision to recruit or not recruit a kid is a group decision and Nuss making that statement makes it seem like the group made a dumb decision to stop recruiting him and he has to work with the people who made that decision. Weber knows Harris decommitted and the RB spot for the class is open. Just say that.
January 22nd, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
If Coach Jackson had his way he would recruit him with the speed of Tyrone Wheatley, the moves of Jamie Morris, and the power of Leroy Hoard...except faster, stronger and with better moves.
January 22nd, 2014 at 9:22 PM ^
This probably has a lot more to do with Damien Harris than it does any staff evaluation and subsequent decision to stop recruiting him. We had room for 1 RB, took the best available and stopped recruiting the position. Now that guy decommited so we start recruiting again.
January 22nd, 2014 at 9:42 PM ^
I know that's the case so why not just tell him that. why say it's crazy they stopped recruiting him.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:05 PM ^
Assclown +1
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:05 PM ^
To me, Harris and Weber are a great combo. I want both.
Make it happen Nuss.
January 22nd, 2014 at 8:22 PM ^
Coach Nuss seems to be the influx of hope and good vibes and everything 2014 that we all needed. I say we recruit both rbs and even patrick if need be. Is that not how they do things at Bama and in the SEC? I say recruit them all. Love what Nuss has already done; hope he is the missing piece to solve the disjointed mess that was 2013.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:06 PM ^
Take him and Harris, if he decides to return (which I absolutely hope he does). They're both great talents and with not getting an RB in 2014, we should definitely take two in 2015.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:09 PM ^
Or are they flat-out dating? There's apparently a difference.
January 23rd, 2014 at 12:08 AM ^
anyone is an NCAA infraction
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:18 PM ^
Are they an item?
Did you catch them necking?
*newlywed game references? Anyone? No? Ok...I'll go back to work now.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:49 PM ^
Yeah. They'll get a good 2015 back whether it's Harris or not.
I think getting Weber plus that new guy they offered out of North Carolina would be even better than just having Harris.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:08 PM ^
i don't want a good back, I want a game breaker back. Harris is what the sec has and we complain about. not knocking weber at all, but Harris is a program changer.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
Weber is at the game tonight, per MaizeBlueNews Twitter.
January 22nd, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
According to Steve Lorenz, Mike Weber is at the basketball game tonight in aa.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:08 PM ^
Mike Weber is an amazing RB and would be a great Wolverine; I don't understand why we stopped recruiting him, even if we weren't ready to extend an offer yet (and possibly ever). There is nothing dishonest about maintaining contact even if you are not sure if you will have enough space in a class. He is a tremendous athlete in our own state. That's a no-brainer.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:19 PM ^
there could be many reasons to that and i wouldnt be surprised if one of the reasons was Damien Harris. if it wasnt for the soul fact that we already had the top back for the entire class it could have been due to other reasons like the uncertainty of a coaches future, the feeling of him liking another school more, getting a good feeling from another prospect who they liked just as much or even the fact that the coaches wanted to see if he would still consider michigan if they left him alone for a little while to test his actual interest level. the world may never know
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:21 PM ^
I wouldnt be mad if we went after a guy like Jacques Patrick in the '15 class. he was a kid who really seemed into michigan early and even was contacting guys from the class like harris and campbell about wanting to be on the field with them. since the time when he was originally brought up on the board and now there hasnt been much about him or his recruitment
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:59 PM ^
We can take both Harris and Weber. Remember Harris said that he still thought of Michigan as # 1. I just don't see him going to Kentucky or Ohio and have a gut feeling he'll be suiting up in AA.
