Number Changers
In a lighter topic from the media guide, it looks like there were several number changers.
Player | Old Number | New Number |
Josh Furman | 6 | 14 |
Jack Kennedy | 20 | 14 |
JT Floyd | 12 | 18 |
Thomas Gordan | 15 | 30 |
Isaiah Bell | 26 | 34 |
Terrance Talbott | 22 | 37 |
Marrell Evans | 9 | 51 |
Terric Jones | 14 |
no number |
The interesting ones to me are Talbott and Jones. Talbott and Jake Ryan both as 37 doesn't make any sense at all as they are both defensive / special teams players and couldn't be on the field at the same time. Jones having no number is probably just a nothing, but it's weird.
I thought Countess was going to be #18.
Whatevs... as long as they perform well I guess I don't really care.
Ricky Barnum has also changed to #52
Jake Ryan and Terrence Talbot are both #37. Apparently Talbot isn't expected to play much...
I had heard that the odds are pretty good that Teric Jones will be a medical casualty. Terry Talbott had back surgery that may make him a medical too. Potentially adding those guys to Pace and Kellen Jones, and you can start to see how they are thinking to get to 26 scholarships if need be.
That would suck, but it would also explain the coaches' belief that they can take 26 guys. Hell, they're already at 19 (?), so IF those four are out, the roster will have 23 openings before even reaching the "Redshirt Junior Firm Handshake" discussion.
I think they are at 18 before accounting for K. Jones, Pace, T. Jones, and Talbott. I think we reached 85 on signing day, will lose 15 seniors after next season, and had Vinopal, C. Christian, and Williamson leave putting us at 18. The loss of these 4 (of which we seem more certain of the first two) would put us at 22 I think. Was there one other guy that I missed that bumps the number up to 23?
All the numbers selected seem terrible in my book.
I love 12, 20, 22, 9 etc..
14,18, 30 and 34 seem like slow numbers.
.....resents the implication that he is "slow". You try running fast on the rounded bottoms of "3" and "0".
Don't forget that Jack Kennedy is now #14. That makes him twice as good as any QB wearing #7.
Book it.
Has anyone heard that Brandon Moore changed to 89 as well?
I still think they should've had the running backs be 18, 19, 15*, etc. with Rodriguez so that it would be tougher to distinguish the RB from Denard on read plays. In the middle of a play, 16 and 18 look pretty similar, especially if you're supposed to be spying the QB or something. If the LB has to think about it for just a split second, it might not be enough time to react.
Mike Cox didn't see the field as much as VSmith.
Maybe I missed something, but what happened to Kellen Jones? Also, I thought Pace was doing better...no?? Thanks for any info.
After looking around on the internet, I see that there may be some legal issues with K Jones. Not sure what they are, but it looks like he is off the team for now.
Thomas Gordon pretty much confirmed on Facebook the Kellen Jones rumors.
What is it with RR and his recruits? It's almost bad luck for a recruit to commit to him. I really hope the Jones rumors aren't true but it does appear something is up.
Does anyone know what the rumors are? I've heard Jones is in legal trouble, but I've yet to hear what the trouble is. I hope it isn't too serious. If anyone can shed some light and clarify please do.
