Now that Dline is filled, who's left?

As been stated multiple times, we have about 3 spots left (maybe a fourth).  We know they want a WR, another DB, and a best available (probably running back).

I truly believe we are in GREAT shape for Treadwell, better shape with Green than people think, and the 3rd spot a tossup.  So my 3 to fill out the class are:

1. Treadwell

2. Green

3. shot in the dark.  Fuller!  or some other DB not yet named.

Just curious, do both Teller and Vanderdoes play SDE or 3-Tech? We would need someone who can primarily play SDE. Also, if either wanted to come to Michigan it would be tough to turn them down but wouldn't it be better to take a true NT rather than a SDE since the last class is loaded at SDE and Poggi could maybe play there. Of course, this is assuming the coaches feel Hurst can only play 3-Tech and not move to NT. Magnus seemed to think Hurst probably cannot play NT as he lacks the skills that Martin had which allowed him to excel at NT.

We were looking for "Jarritos mandarina."

It is spelled HOKEAMANIA.  Our coach is an ass-kicking American citizen, not one of the Beatles, for Christ's sake!

"Chai" is actually the translation for the word "tea". ("Chai tea" is redundant.) The question was what sort of drink would be popular in So Cal, not what sort of tea.

I know Mathis is a great player, but I do not trust his word for anything. Every visit he takes he names that school as his favorite. All of Michigan's recruits are high character kids. I know we shouldn't bank on recruits truely committing until the LOI is faxed, but Mathis is one to worry about until the end. No dice.

A seventeen-year-old kid gets excited on college visits and he's suddenly untrustworthy and not a person of "high character"? When I was in high school, every new college that accepted me was my new favorite for a week. The only difference is that I was a year older and I didn't have ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247, a thousand bloggers and a million twitterers analyzing and chastising my every comment on the matter. Give me a break.

Hmmm so Mathis commits to Washington, then decommits. Then, he takes a bunch of unofficials, where he names every school he visits his leader. Yeah, I don't trust his word, nor would I trust what he says until he signs his LOI. Want a break? Go to mlive. The kid is great player, but I would always think he would flip. I don't feel that way about any other of our recruits.

He committed very early, realized quickly that that wasn't the right decision, and has been very open since then.  When he said he loved his Michigan visit, he didn't commit to Michigan, he just said he loved it and we were his favorite.  Then he went somewhere else and that was his favorite.  This is not uncommon.  In the end, one of them will be his favorite, until then he's hard to read.  That doesn't mean he's a bad kid.

Way back when, I was recruited by colleges (not for a revenue sport).  After almost every visit, I left that school saying "damn, that was great - new favorite."  In fact, in a couple of cases, I even told that to the people recruiting me.

When you're this young and are welcomed in the way that these kids are welcomed to the schools they visit, it's only natural that they're going to fall for each school they see.  To call that suggestive of a character problem seems ridiculous to me.

It's just the nature of the beast to have another scholarship open up due to attrition or perhaps giving a redshirt junior the firm handshake and opening up a slot that way. As it stands, it's pretty clear what positions we are going after.

WR - Treadwell has us as his leader and it would be shocking if we didnt land him. If not him then Allen, Larue, or Stringfellow.

RB - Green or Wilkins. Green is clearly the higher rated of the two and if we strike out on both, I would be surprised if the staff grabbed another RB just for the sake of taking a RB. Most likely this scholarship would go to a best available type.

CB - This is a spot where we are swinging for the fences going for Fuller, McQuay, and a few other top end prospects.

Potential 4th spot - Perhaps to a DE like Mathis or a last minute poach of someone like Gibbs which is unlikely due to our recent DT haul but he would add depth.  Some people are holding out hope for Berkeley Edwards similar to Dennis Norfleet last year but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. This spot could also go to someone under the radar who impresses at camp or has a breakout senior season much like Drake Johnson last year.

Even if we only get Treadwell out of the names mentioned, this class is a monster and should end up top 3 for sure with the strong possibility of remaining #1 if we fill it out with some of the best case guys.

And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it's gonna be Michigan again, Michigan

I hate to say this, but I think you're seriously overstating our chances with Treadwell. I'd probably put us around 50-60%, which yes, is much higher than any of his other schools, but there's enough uncertainty (and schools) there that I definitely wouldn't be "shocked" if he went elsewhere.

Regardless of looking for 2014 talent and making sure they are keeping in contact with the 2013 kids... it is very nice to know that the coaches can focus on filling 3-5 spots over the next  8 months.

Ace pretty much nailed it in his Upshot - so a lot of these posts are useless.  Treadwell is clearly our "most likely to land".  The interest around Fuller / McQuay should only increase.  RB is a "position of need" where we could potentially land the #1 overall RB according to Rivals...

Things are good.  I have no rage about any of this.  At all.
