My thoughts as well.  I am jealous.  No offense to Arkansas but Georgia is essentially the type of team we should be playing at that time in our progression if we are ever getting back to a team that is relevant.   And so much for "you can't get those SEC teams to come up north" nonsense.

There are only so many team available with openings in the 2017-2020 spot and instead of playing 1 offs vs Florida in a neutral sterile environment I'd rather be playing home and homes with top 15 programs - that is what college football is all about and why I like it vs the NFL ... the traditions, bands, on campus events, regional differences, inter conference play, etc.   OSU, ND and the like have really sizzling non conference stuff coming up in the late 2010s and early 2020s and we seem to be focusing on the BYUs and Va Techs.

To be fair, ND has the type of weird scheduling that allows them to have 5 "conference" games and still schedule a whole bunch of other teams.  Yes, UM seems less excited about scheduling major OOC teams than other big programs, but ND isn't a great example of a northern team doing so.

Because, well ... obviously.

But it is interesting that they'd choose to do a UGA home-and-home.  UGA is a consistently strong program, and could give NDU fits.

Color me a Dawg fan for both those games, if they happen.  To hell with Notre Dame.

We're playing Arkansas, UCLA, Virginia Tech, and Florida. We also played Alabama two years ago. I think the ND series ending is good for Michigan. We now get to travel all around the country to play teams rather than playing an overrated arrogant program 150 miles southwest of us every year.

If Mora Jr stays the UCLA series could be great - that said I think he is leaving back to the NFL soon.   The Bama and UF games I dont consider in the same light since they are neutral site games where many fans do not get to participate first hand.  VA Tech is one of those weird programs that I can never get a handle on - like West Virginia I think the bloom has come off their rose since about 7-8 years ago.  Yes I realize they were in the BCS bowl with us but its just not as 'sexy' as a USC LSU Clemson Texas Oklahoma would be right now.

It also bugs me Texas has schedule both OSU and ND in their out years but not us.  (and they played OSU 5-6 years ago in a home and home)

And Oklahoma has OSU and Nebraska... where are we in this conversation?

Mora has a great situation at UCLA.  He has a QB, a young and rapidly improving (unlike ours) OL, and a number of playmakers on D.  Plus, he has Josh Rosen committed for 2015.  Unless he screws it up by losing 6+ games for consecutive years, or someone in the NFL on the West Coast offering Pete Carroll level control, he will be at UCLA until Rosen leaves.

Per the article, the possible timeline for this is 2018-2019, which isn't very well established for Notre Dame, or indeed most teams, but the other teams that Notre Dame will have in that timeframe according to Future Football Schedules will be:

- In 2018, Northwestern, USC, Navy and Stanford

- In 2019, Texas, Navy, Stanford and USC

Georgia would be an interesting addition in addition to the mandated ACC games from their pseudo-joining of another conference.

Glad we play FLA but these games need to be on campus. Georgia home-and-home would be a top 10-15 dream matchup for me as a Michigan fan. How about an LSU home-and-home? We would play them at night in Ann Arbor and at night in Baton Rouge. We deserve a series like this. Our home schedule is atrocious this year.

The place is very much like Ann Arbor with a better bar and music scene across the street from campus. Would be a great place to go for a game.

As for ND: I actually am gad to get them off our schedule so we could fill our away year MSU OSU schedule with an interesting home game reciprocating in a home MSU and OSU year. Kinda tired of ND being our only marquis non-conference game.

The corporate NFL Jerry World games need to go.

It's a good scheduling for them.  An SEC matchup most likely under the lights against a beatable program that pulls in the ATL market.  It's like GA Tech matchup, only better.

It is a great town, and a place I would love to have UM play in. Fans are still ESS EEE SEE homers but definitely a notch or two below LSU, Bama, and some other places in the annoying department.

As UGA is my adpoted school down there I will have even more reasons to root for them.

Georgia should handle them in 18/19 and dont forget that we get to watch Florida State completely dismantle them this year!

Their SOS will be much better in the future but im not sure it will pay off.   2-3 losses, even if to very high quality opponents, will not get them to a top 4 ranking at the end of each season.

Based on what?

The only players on either team likely to be around for that game are whichever freshmen redshirts between now and then. The vast majority of the players for both teams in 2018 and 2019 haven't even been recruited yet. Both teams could have entirely different coaching staffs.

Don't tell me it's based on historical records. Georgia has been up and down over the last decade, as has Notre Dame. There's no way to tell where either team will be in 2018 and 2019.

The four playoff teams are going to be chosen by a committee not by where they are ranked.  I doubt the four playoff teams are going to be that much different then the teams at the top of the rankings but being ranked in the top 4 won't guarantee you a spot in the playoff.

Atleast our program garners hype to BE overhyped.  Enjoy your 8 game home schedules with the directional Michigans and teams like AppSt every year.  As a football fan, and probably paying Michigan Stadium goer, you can't be happy shelling out that money for the spread UM puts on year in and year out.

Speaking of Notre Dame. Their undefeated women's basketball team is getting CRUSHED by UConn.
