Thank God I'm 5 hours ahead of EST and it is more socially acceptable.
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Thank God I'm 5 hours ahead of EST and it is more socially acceptable.
for social acceptability
Jameson is cutting it close. Definitely no Jim for a while..
Drinking for a reason is for pussies.
It is good.
Ehh not bad but I would rather be drinking some good craft beers right about now. Only 30 minutes left in the work day and then I can go home and enjoy some real beer (no offense to your Labatt Blue, of course).
I'm acutally a Busch Light (value drinker!) regular but someone with less of an eye on the wallet and more on the pallet left a 12 pack in my garage fridge. Their loss will be this guy's gain!
Nice, if it's free, drink it up!
If it's free, it's for me!
In college, some of my buddies lived across from Blue Front on State St. We saw a Budweiser truck pull up and when the guy was unloading beer, one of my buddies grabbed a case of the truck. We stood in the front of the house drinking that beer and it was the best tasting beer I had ever had.
Always says this, as well as another one of my favorites:
"There's a porkchop in every bottle."
It's a basic moral principle of mine: never turn down a free beer.
Even Keystone Light?
Yep, I said it.
You must have a heck of a time out there in KZoo.
well that, but mostly I'm a poor college student so I'll take what I can get
Depends if I am drunk or not yet.
geez. I may have had too many already. although I do have a pallett in the garage as well. I break it up for kindling.
They make great fire wood, burn forever.
Let me guess. At some point over the holidays you hosted a get together? The best part of hosting is the leftovers in the beer fridge.
That is the case.
BL has been the official beer of my tailgate for 15 years. I could go for a good game of circle of death right now.
I give you an invisible +1 in my head?
and it is beautiful.
On at 8:30 pm vs Wisconsin. GO BLUE!!!!
And I plan to enjoy that with a few Scotch on the Rocks'.
Single Malt, preferably an Islay. Lagavulin is my choice.
Received an great book on whiskey for Christmas, breaks down soils, environment, and technique and their affect on taste and body. Great read
I've been working on my scotch knowledge for a handful of years now and wouldn't mind actually getting smart on it. Might help me branch out from my comfort zone of Speysides.
I would recommend two:
The world atlas of Whiskey , not as detailed but impressive coffee table. Heavy focus on scotch.
Whiskey: The definitive world guide.
Thank you very much. I will look in to procuring these.
Good choice , my choice Laphroig
Don't ruin a perfectly good scotch with ice.
then you have to at least add a bit of water, it opens up the scotch and lets it breath so the full flavor can be enjoyed.
for when Jim Harbaugh is introduced on Friday!
Or not...don't know what I'll drink if its Hoke or Miles.
Protocol would dictate that it be bleach.
I hate to be snnoty like Beavis but you really got to go for the single malts. 18 year old Glendfiddich is a minimum for me. Just do not like the Red Label.
you must really hate yourself then because that drink is a punishment that no scotch drinker would ever submit themself to.
I think I will have some Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza when I get home.
and smoke. And chew. And freebase. And self asphyxiate.
And self asphyxiate.
Like David Carradine?
......Once it hits your lips ...
Socrates also said through pain comes pleasure. If thats true, I better get some serious pleasure soon for enduring these past few months.
makes the brain go blanker.
Screw this pussy alcohol shit. I'm trying heroine for the first time tonight.
Right now, my vote would be for Scarlett Johannson.
Theoretical +1. Best I can do until the site comes completely out of its coma.
If I am not mistaken a heroine would contain that pussy while heroin would involve a different injection entirely.
Eat some reds and try to calm down. Smoke some grass, shoot some fucking smack! Shit, man, do whatever you gotta do. - Raoul Duke
Yay! And oh yea I'm like 3 or 4 shots deep on Jager already.
Woo, high school! j/k
Woo, frat house!
/ not really
and maybe I'll mix in a Great Lakes Christmas ale once in a while
Probably a JLohr Cabernet. Tasty stuff.
If that doesn't work, it's on to Stoli.
ain't gonna get it done for me -- unless I ask my wife to hit me with the bottle.
why can't I post or get accurate up to date threads? Having trouble getting access to account.
I'm sure that it is the same for everyone. Just be lucky you are logged in. I think those were measures put into place by Brian so we don't kill the site.
Without the power of the neg, MGoPoints commerce grinds to a screeching halt. On the other hand, the website keeps running and we don't have 20 cc threads an hour.
This might actually be an improvement.
I second/6 pack all of these comments.....
It worked. Does anybody know what is going on with site. Sorry, pretty new to this. I'm guessing bogged down, right?
read the front page. Brian shut down the logging in to keep the site up and running.
Thanks! Still trying to figure this all out. Thank you for the respone. Tough times ya know! Comforting being on here seeing the other thoughts...
For some reason my parents have 7 ounce corona bottles. We have a fridgeful. I am about to make these midget beers my bitch. I figure, even if they're only 7 ounces, around 30 should do the trick.
anybody know why the mgoboard tab at the top doesn't work? Been struggling trying to get through for over 24 hours. My threads are backed up from yesterday??? Thanks.
Be a man. Jack and Coke. Put some hair on your chest.
Note: I would have said Jim Beam, but I am boycotting all things Jim at the moment.
Good thing I don't drink anything with Dave in its name, becasue I would be boycotting that.
I was going to grab some Bagger Dave's for dinner...but I went with 5 Guys instead.
Doesnt get any nastier than that.
here on the west coast im stilll at work but I could really use a glass of crown right now
Glenmorangie quinta ruban on the way home, sweet bliss
I stick with the cheap stuff. Bonded with my father in law at the Gentleman's Quarters in NYC one night long ago as we took a short course on whiskies, and both like it best. Sorry they took the pic of the factory off the label, though.
Bottoms up to all. Brandon should have kept RichRod if he didn't have a replacement, but hey. . . it's the kids I feel for.
I took a personal half day for a date with a 12 pack of Newcastle and a bottle of JW black.... Tomorrow might be a sick day
Followed by Jonnie Walker? Ehhhhh...not so much
and some silver bullets
And a bottle of Patron.
Bottoms up guys its gonna be a long long week!!!
At work... A little office scotch...
I'm going with rubbing alcohol.
Johnson and Johnson
Whatever works for you.
Haha. The perfect thing would be a time machine and/or powerful drug in where I wake up in 2013, after we climb out of the deep hole that has been dug.
Perfect timing to see the last season of our next coach!
It will be if anyone listens to Woody Paige. He just said the Air Force coach and the coach from Houston...FML
i attempted to plus you for the second time, but I liked your reply so much i did it anyway.
To when I was 8, I knew my parents were going to split, but I still couldn't bear the thought. At that point I turned to TV and cereal.
Since now I'm all growed up, I'm going with some Jack. And hoping that DB hooks me up with a cool stepmother.
The Jack was unopened, so I went with the ol' reliable, scotch. Ah, scotch (Jura -- very nice).
Once i get home (I'm on the West Coast), it'll be a bevy of seasonal brews
Now that I think about it I have a Leinenkugel's (sp?) variety pack in the fridge along with a Michelob variety pack. I will probably bust into those while watching the UA game and Michigan basketball game tonight.
I like the Honey and Sunset Wheat.
Sunset Wheat is probably my favorite Leinenkugel's. It tastes like Fruity Pebbles.
Haha. Funny you should say that. I got in an arguement with a friend who said the same thing. I told him it tasted like a blueberry bagel. Maybe he has something, but I am sticking with blueberry bagel!
Why don't you go run along to WLA
I've got the Sam Adams "winter variety mix" 24 pack at home. I'm gonna pour out an Old Fezziwig in RR's honor. Then I'm gonna chill out and not dwell on this fucked up situation for a few hours.
That's a good pack too. I do enjoy Old Fezziwig.
my new best friend... maybe he can play D.
I've sunken into a dark corner talking to myself.
It's my girlfriend's and my one-year anniversary today. Happy anniversary! Hope you like a simpering wuss on your couch clutching a bottle of Woodford Reserve!
Has anyone tried absinthe? I haven't yet but was leaning towards something new this evening.
Will ease the pain until the wormwood kicks in.
I'm drinking Duvel and Gumballhead at Paddy Long's in Chicago watching espn fellate the SEC. It's painful, but I've got nothing to do until game theory class at 6. That John Nash is easier to understand under the table.
Personally I don't need a reason to drink a good Scotch like Laphroaig or Lagavulin but an extra glass wouldn't hurt today.
this situation was badly handled that my body compensated by making its own alcohol.
I'll drink some cheap beer. If i had the money I'd buy some good beer, but I don't.
I am keeping it in the Michigan football family. Walmart has 2.97 bottles of Pinot Grigio. Super with 3 or 4 large cubes of ice. I think I'll easily knock off the bottle which is normally an achievment way out of my reach.
You guys drink some funky chit, what about some good ole Strohs ?
No longer the same, now that it's made by Pabst.
Luckily Blue Moon just came out with a new seasonal beer. Spring Blonde Wheat Ale. MMM.
Cause someone is sure to be scorned
Rich was a good coach, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and football, and as a coach he explored the sidelines of the east coast, from Glenville to Clemson and... up to... Morgantown. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Rich. Rich, who loved football. And so, Richard A. Rodriguez, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Big East, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.
Damn, I wish I could upvote this. Good play.
But I'm putting fresh-squeezed OJ in my Captain Morgan.
Drinkin' some Lion Stout....oh yeah, I'm a beer snob, beyotches.
5 parts Fleishcmann's whiskey, 1 part Vernors, on the rocks.
I'm bout to angerbang some poor girl from the bar. Dave Brandon has influenced me to make bad decisions to forget about his bad decisions. Here's to hoping for a bright future for our beloved wolverines and that DB has an ace up his sleeve.
I'll have you all know that I'm sippin' on my Mike's Hard tonight
Just woke up .... passed out at 1:00 pm, after hearing the news. Suffice to say I went overboard. BUT WTF BRANDON ..... if we don't get Harbaugh, and we just let Rich Rod go for Brady fuckin Hoke?!?!?!
Sitting in my bar here in Plymouth.
I see thatJHackney has come out of hiding. This is a good thing.
When it comes to Whiskey, I'll take Maker's Mark. When it comes to beer, nothing is better to me than Belhaven Scottish Ale. It all tastes like Christmas morning!
I just picked up a fresh bottle. Time to crack the wax.
Hope you can piss it out quickly, and reconsider future purchase decisions. The Maker's Mark building after the 2008 season:
Oh man, I forgot about this! This is a sad, sad day indeed.
Too late to stop now; Might as well wallow in as much self pity as possible.
I've never seen that before. Once I finish this bottle, I just might be finished with you, Makers Mark. (To be fair though, I've said that previous sentence multiple times before.)
Edit: this comment is for the Makers Mark picture...silly Droid phone.
and ponder why those Arkansas punt blockers didn't run the ball back for an easy touchdown. Seeing the Buckeyes lose would have made today a little bit less depressing in a schadenfreude-y sort of way.
Do not underestimate the soothing maternal properties of milk.
and some beers.
Left over champagne. Two bottles. Gone.
Started with bud lite, now on to real beer, Bell's winter ale, Keweenaw blonde and amber.
Why in the hell would you start with the garbage and move on to the good stuff? You are supposed to start with the good stuff and move to the swill when you are too drunk to care.
Exactly. You should never start with the shitty beer and move on to the good stuff. That is disrespect to the actual beer makers.
It's pretty apt from 0:27 onward....
I'm not drinking right now but wish I were. I've been really, really sad all day. Also, my friend just told me I'm more upset about RR being fired than I've been after breaking up with all of my ex-boyfriends. So there's that.
I'm sure there's all kinds of guys on the board who would volunteer to comfort you and/or purchase drinks.
I really wish I could +1 you right now because that is hilarious.
BLINK, DAMN YOU!!!
I dove into the sea for a barrel of Jameson.
Car bombs anyone?
I just learned what a car bomb was on Saturday night when my husband and I were out and saw the bartender make one and we asked what it was. Pretty funny. I thought I knew my drinks, but this somehow passed by me. We promptly ordered two.
