Congrats to Jahmere irvin-sills committing to Michigan
No confirmation from any sites and Irvin-Sills reportedly has no offer from Michigan (or interest) on ESPN/Scout/Rivals. 3-star concensus CB in the 2013 class.

Don't know anything about this guy, seems like a bit of a flier. Has some decent offers in there though (Auburn, Tennessee, UCLA). Never hurts to have CB depth.
Well, he is the #36-ranked CB prospect according to Rivals, FWIW. If accurate, that's a pretty solid recruit.

Would rather save the spot for the 2014 class. That class is shaping up to be smaller, and you can always find a random 3-star CB to fill a spot. This one doesn't make much sense.

I understand the thought, but it seems like almost every year the class is shaping up to be "smaller." By the time signing days rolls around it almost always seems to have ballooned up to 22-23 at least.
What bothers me, though, is that every year the coaches do these things. It is almost like they know things we don't and then act on that knowledge. I wish they would consult us more often.

We have this conversation every year. If this guy really is a commit, just because "I Like Burgers" hasn't heard of him doesn't make him "random." If the coaches offered him, the coaches wanted him. If the coaches wanted him, they likely have their reasons. It's not like we have to pass on Dashawn Hand because we got a 3-star CB.
In almost no circumstance is banking a scholarship a good idea. Bring in a kid you think is good now and worry about next year next year.

I was pushing for this move before today, so if we get another corner I really hope he does.

After a second thought - that could be a possibility.
The more CB's you have the easier that moves becomes- the staff seems to really want to have a lot of depth at CB. Not sure you can say another CB means a likely move to WR for Lewis- but I would think whatvere that chances of a move are they got a lot higher if this news is true (but a lot higher could still very easily mean very unlikely still)
I could see Michigan wanting this guy, but telling him to wait for signing day to make the comittment so that it won't scare any of the other already comitted cornerbacks away OR getting him to commit would leave a little door open for Lewis to make a switch to WR if need be.
I say let's take him!

I love our class but if there was a spot id like to take one more its DLine or CB..and this kid is from a power HS which is good to get for many reasons and he has good offers..He seemed to be leaning to Clemson so i would have no problem if this is true..screw the wait and use it next yr approach..things happen and we will worry about next year next year..use the schollys and bring in competitve kids..hope its true.

Based on past practice, you have to think the coaches are probably working on someone to flip from another school. It will be interesting to see if that last offer actually goes out to someone. If they can bring someone who contributes as much as Dennis Norfleet did last year, that would be great. Maybe a guy who returns punts?

I'm not sure all the kids we currently have as DBs will end-up playing DB. Lewis and Stribling are both athletes that have gotten it done at WR, and Ross and Thomas were terrors as RBs.
Let's also remember that Jahmere is rated a 5.7 on Rivals, which is close to a four-star. And he has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Miss State, among others...not too shabby.
This kis is an athlete that might be able to contribute in roles other than DB. Obviously, we aren't sure he is a commit, but just thought I would share:
