Don't know anything about this guy, seems like a bit of a flier. Has some decent offers in there though (Auburn, Tennessee, UCLA). Never hurts to have CB depth.
Not Hello: Jahmere Irvin-Sills (pending confirmation - EDIT: confirmed false)?
Well, he is the #36-ranked CB prospect according to Rivals, FWIW. If accurate, that's a pretty solid recruit.
Looks like he was committed to Auburn before decommitting about a month back...
Is that Jon Favreau?!
Plus, he has dreads. Which we all know makes him faster.
Considering the one right above it.
and why should we believe him?
USC commit and he is teammates with Irvin-Sills. Like I said, this is just off the Twitter-verse so far.
Is he on a MLK trip today?
If so, we are going super heavy on DBs this cycle.
Would rather save the spot for the 2014 class. That class is shaping up to be smaller, and you can always find a random 3-star CB to fill a spot. This one doesn't make much sense.
but it will likely be 20 or more.
I understand the thought, but it seems like almost every year the class is shaping up to be "smaller." By the time signing days rolls around it almost always seems to have ballooned up to 22-23 at least.
What bothers me, though, is that every year the coaches do these things. It is almost like they know things we don't and then act on that knowledge. I wish they would consult us more often.
It really would be more considerate, wouldn't it? Darn those coaches!
We have this conversation every year. If this guy really is a commit, just because "I Like Burgers" hasn't heard of him doesn't make him "random." If the coaches offered him, the coaches wanted him. If the coaches wanted him, they likely have their reasons. It's not like we have to pass on Dashawn Hand because we got a 3-star CB.
In almost no circumstance is banking a scholarship a good idea. Bring in a kid you think is good now and worry about next year next year.
it seems like we would be better off banking the scholly and evening out the classes a bit.
Jourdan Lewis to WR?
I was pushing for this move before today, so if we get another corner I really hope he does.
Jourdan Lewis to WR?
After a second thought - that could be a possibility.
The more CB's you have the easier that moves becomes- the staff seems to really want to have a lot of depth at CB. Not sure you can say another CB means a likely move to WR for Lewis- but I would think whatvere that chances of a move are they got a lot higher if this news is true (but a lot higher could still very easily mean very unlikely still)
I could see Michigan wanting this guy, but telling him to wait for signing day to make the comittment so that it won't scare any of the other already comitted cornerbacks away OR getting him to commit would leave a little door open for Lewis to make a switch to WR if need be.
I say let's take him!
I'm sorta surprised we'd offer another CB.
I'm guessing it means there's a decent chance that Jourdan Lewis pulls a Reverse Zion Babb.
Is this for football or basketball?
FB its says CB in the body of the post (Corner Back).
Basketball. His position is Center Big-Fella (CB)
One tweet doesn't seem like much to go on.
Which is why we're waiting for confirmation from someone other than Rodgers. It's worth noting, however.
One tweet, an MGoBoard post and over 25 comments in 28 minutes!
Why on earth would anyone be paying attention to recruting right now?
I have decided that we need to do this at least once a week. It will keep the "read twitter, search youtube, copy and paste" recruiting analysts busy and enrich their lives.
Why is it everytime I hear a player with a hyphenated last name I think they are really good?
Dude is a bigtime playmaker.
you mean "what's" your opinion.
Reminds me of Terrence Talbott.
I love our class but if there was a spot id like to take one more its DLine or CB..and this kid is from a power HS which is good to get for many reasons and he has good offers..He seemed to be leaning to Clemson so i would have no problem if this is true..screw the wait and use it next yr approach..things happen and we will worry about next year next year..use the schollys and bring in competitve kids..hope its true.
I wonder If his friend got Michigan mixed up with Mississippi? He visited Miss. St a couple of weeks ago and has an offer from Ole Miss.
Damn you auto correct?
I think Treadwell had a similar problem!
According to a trusty old friend of this blog Rodgers has confirmed he meant Michigan
Has he been hanging out with Teo?
mod should edit the OP.
Done...mod can edit further, if needed.
In all seriousness, I kinda wondered if we really did take another cornerback. I mean how many do you really need in one year. I know that you can redshirt some, but 5 cornerbacks in one year is like taking 3 quarterbacks or 4 tightends.
tweeted that this committment is false. https://twitter.com/SamWebb77/status/298468812536307713
EDIT: meh. Peoples r fast and can embed tweets; move along.
probably was a mistype
Behind a paywall in the Fort. Sounds like a misunderstanding.
Goodbye Jahmere Irvin-Sills. We hardly knew ye.
so much for that
But what did Sam Webb say?
In the Big fourTEeN, only OSU, Michigan, and Wisconsin have higher rated cornerbacks in their class. Not bad for a so-called flyer!
Lets turn this into a what are you drinking ? Thread..Petes coffee for me
2 of his HS teammates so it isn't crazy
The Jahmere Irvin-Sills era at Michigan: oh, so short, but oh, so sweet.
What will we do without him?
For what number?
ALL THE NUMBERZ
His impact on the university will be remembered for decades to come. A legend if there ever was one. Who gives a damn about the Wistert brothers when you've got your precious memories of Irvin-Sills.
All of them.
We need to update the AMDBHG image, and pray that this is all he has to muster as he has become complacent in his old age.
This just proves Hoke cannot recruit big time athletes.
Especially since sills is an ESS EEE SEE player. I can't remember hoke getting a player from the south
So are we unsure that we do not have a hello from Mr. Irvin-Sills, sure that we have a not hello but unsure about who it's from, or is that we were sure that we had a not hello from him but we were waiting for confirmation and now it has been proved false, thus giving us a true hello?
In that case, welcome Jahmere!
You are right Jerry, it could be a somewhat hello, or a hi, or even just a what's up?...
I told you people Hoke can't close... not even on players he never recruited...
Didn't he recruit Tacopants?
How long have you had that one in the chamber?
today, so not long. But whenever I go to Dick's or Dunham's, and see it, I make a joke about it.
may want to just leave the "Hello: _____ ________" posts to Ace. That way no one gets their hopes up.
What's the fun in that?
Can we please stop the "Hello:"s until at least ONE major recruiting site (Scout, Rivals, ESPN, 247) reports the commitment?
Nope. If someone on the board so much as has a dream about a recruit committing, I want to hear about it. We are ahead of the curve.
I, for one, plan to make up stats about this kid and talk about how awesome he was at Michigan to make other people feel like less of a Michigan fan than me.
he ran a 3.95 40 time AND it only got 2 FAKES out of 5!
The Leon Sandcastle commercial is based on JIS.
Based on past practice, you have to think the coaches are probably working on someone to flip from another school. It will be interesting to see if that last offer actually goes out to someone. If they can bring someone who contributes as much as Dennis Norfleet did last year, that would be great. Maybe a guy who returns punts?
Someone jacked this kid's twitter account. Here's his latest post:

I'm not sure all the kids we currently have as DBs will end-up playing DB. Lewis and Stribling are both athletes that have gotten it done at WR, and Ross and Thomas were terrors as RBs.
Let's also remember that Jahmere is rated a 5.7 on Rivals, which is close to a four-star. And he has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Miss State, among others...not too shabby.
This kis is an athlete that might be able to contribute in roles other than DB. Obviously, we aren't sure he is a commit, but just thought I would share:
How many spots do we have left?
