Going into this game, I had mentioned that one of the reasons that Iowa's defense has been thriving was their 10 turnovers in 5 games. Now, I hadn't seen all of their games, but I suspected that opposing offenses had been doing Iowa some favors. Tonight, we certainly helped them out a lot. I think most of us agree that we could have put up 3 more points if we had finished those five drives with some combination of punts/FGs/TDs.
But, the frustrating thing is that Iowa didn't earn those turnovers. We can discuss the three turnovers by our freshmen QBs, but Minor also gave up a fumble in a physcial, short yardage situation, and Mathews muffed a punt - on a fair catch. . Those are our seniors.
So, while the long term situation certainly looks bright, the uber-competitive side of me (and, I suspect most Michigan fans) just doesn't like to lose. Especially when we made five unforced turnovers, two of which were by our seniors, and even more specifically since we knew this Iowa defense thrived on turnovers.
Personally, I feel like Denni Green right now - Iowa really wasn't that good, but we let them off the hook.
So yeah, 24 hours to linger on the loss, and then it's time to get excited for . . . Delaware State. Sigh. Thanks for listening, all, and good night and GO BLUE.
