Northwestern "Lake The Post" Super Bowl Saturday

Some NU news on UM week.

However, I’m going to flip the equation and claim this Saturday’s game against #12/#11 Michigan (5-0,1-0) at 6pm ct at Ryan Field (BTN) is indeed our 2011 Super Bowl. It is that important. You can have a field day with me and claim LTP hyperbole. Go ahead. I don’t care. The fact is #12/#11 Michigan is 5-0  for the second consecutive year and with a vastly improved defense (going from arguably the worst in the country to Top 25 in terms of scoring “D”) many still have not bought in to Michigan 2011 as a Michigan of the 1990s level program. But, thanks to one of the top five program reputations in CFB history, the Wolverines are on a quick “J” curve back to national relevancy. That’s the kind of luxury you get for being so damn good for so darn long. The current players and coaches no longer fear the Maize and Blue mystique.

More importantly, it is THE recruiting weekend of the year. It’s very specifically targeted by Fitz to have our biggest 2012 potential recruits on the sideline. We’re borrowing atmosphere from the droves of Michigan fans that will be in the house and hoping the recruits don’t notice.

Here hoping UM is not looking ahead to "Hate Week"

I went there a few weeks back on the recomendations of the board during the Zigerman's mega threads and have to say the sandwich was big, not deli huge like the Bread Basket in Southfield (recollections of my youth), NY staples or even the NY deli (supposed) transplants in Vegas.

Quality was a 6 or 7 tops. Heck the corned beef and pastrami is all pre-sliced and kept in a tin foil covered warming tray like you would see at a tailgate cooking brats for crying out loud. That is not true deli, sandwich shop sure. Deli not so much.

Overall slightly above average for a place considered a deli. /rant over.

My wife is a Cat fan and I've always respected Northwestern. I also think Fitz is a great coach.

It's good to have that swagger back that every single opponent puts us on a pedestal as a trophy to be acquired. I'm glad that if teams want to mount our heads on the wall, they have to actually go on safari with heavy artillery now instead of just going to the free municipal zoo with a slingshot.
