Northwestern Basketball scuffling

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on
Northwestern gets blown out by illinois after barely beating rutgers at home. Maybe this won't be as hard of a game for Michigan.

I expect that newly minted FT-against record to fall. The coin-flipping penis refs will insure NW gets the win.

At least figure skating ADMITS their "sport" is a subjective beauty contest run by judges.

Basketball Q: Why do we look like we can't inbound the ball (at times)

Published March 10, 2015
INBOUNDING ISSUES: The last time Michigan played Illinois on Feb. 12, the Wolverines had a late lead in Champaign before giving it up, due in large part to problems with inbounds passing during the final minute.

seem to have to inbound the ball from odd angles and places on the court all of the time.  At first I thought it was just random but now I think it is somehow a product of the sets we run on offense.  At least two times per game a pass of ours gets deflected out of bounds literally right in the corner of the floor on our offensive end.

Well, one thing is for certain - you can't score all of 18 points in the second half and expect to win a game. Your effective FG% in a game can't be south of 40% (35.71%) in a game and be an expected win, at least not easily.

@ Indiana

Home vs UM

Home vs Purdue

Potentially, there is a decent chance NW loses all three games, which would leave them 9-9 in the B10, losers of its last four games, and 20-11 overall. And they've been a solid lock for the tourney for a while. Michigan is 9-9 against top 100 RPI teams, NW is 8-9 currently, with two losses to Illinois.

Looking at NW's resume, it would seems like we would need only two more wins if we wanted to feel safe, for comparison's sake.

1) really no content, just a hawt take opinion based on two games. 'Memba when Michigan beat Marquette and SMU? I 'memba, which seems to have gone well for us.

2) scuffling....? As to engage in a short, confused fight or struggle at close quarters...?

3) IBD, or at least this should be deleted, the board deserves better!

Two things:

It will be a home game for Northwestern, and it may be one they really need to win to secure their first NCAA tournament berth.

One of their best players (Scottie Lindsey) has been out for several games, and is just returning to their lineup (I think against Rutgers this past weekend).  He and the team are still readjusting to each other.  Their game against Michigan will be his fourth back in the lineup, and he might be settling back in by that point.

Remember that double overtime disaster last time we played at Northwestern two years ago? There was about 4 different times I thought we had that win wrapped up. Then NU kept getting miracle 3 after miracle 3. Every desperation 3 they threw up went in, whether it was guarded or not. It was like NU was possessed by Wisconsin basketball.

Our God awful record on the road this year speaks for itself. I expect a game that goes down to the final seconds, again. With our luck, we'll be the one remaining team on NU's schedule where they get their act together.

Yeah keep thinking that.

Knowing Michigan's luck, this is where Northwestern remembers its fighting for its tournament life and it puts together its best game of the year. Either that, or we'll have a similiar situation to two years ago where we think the game is wrapped up on 2-3 separate occasions and then Northwestern sinks desperation 3 after desperation 3 to win the game. And then we finally just run out of gas.
