North Carolina UofM License Plate!

Submitted by GoBlue on

While there was rumor that the North Carolina license plate drive was going to stop after the New Year, it looks to be still going strong. (More info here.)

I don't know what the official numbers are, but we have to be closing in on the required 300 applications.  If you live in North Carolina and haven't gotten your application in yet, here is the LINK to do-so now.

The U of M club in Texas didn't want to pay for the plate design. I wonder if that's changed? I mean, Staee has a license plate here in TX. That's embarrassing

EDIT: Here's the Houston Alumni Club's response to my inquiry:

We have been approached in the past by the vendor about U-M Texas license plates.

The programs requires an upfront payment of $5000 for implementation and art work.

The U-M alumni groups in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin put together, would not have $5000 required for the plate implementation and art work.

I don't know, maybe all the alumni clubs can put together a pool of donations for the $5000? With the amount of alumni, it doesn't seem like a big number to achieve, but I could be making it seem easier than it actually is.

A $20 donation would take 250 alumni to participate.

Perhaps a simple mass email to TX alumni club member would suffice to gauge interest or just outright ask for donations to the cause?

Submitted my two applications at the end of last year.  I am hoping they meet the 300 number soon.  Would have been great to have the plate during the Final Four run.

Moving to Durham, NC on June 1st and will definitely be taking advantage of this.  Already signed up for the Michigan Triangle Alumni Club email, looking forward to connecting with more Wolverines down there!  Go Blue
