Noon Games Open Thread
Didn't see a thread going so I figured I would get one going. There are a whole bunch of thoroughly mediocre games starting, but it's football so you are going to be watching anyway.
Personally, I'm mostly watching PSU and Akron. Akron looked good early, but sputtered at the goal line and derfed a chip shot field goal. PSU is not having much trouble now on offense.
Purdue, Wisky, Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers are also playing. All are playing awful teams.
I'm also interested in this Oklahoma game. I don't understand why they are ranked so high.

They should be okay but still its pathetic. That was a missed call though on that pick 6.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
I have never, ever, at any level of competition seen a worse throw than that pick six.
September 6th, 2014 at 12:59 PM ^
Wisconsin looks less than impressive in my opinion

Nebraska throws pick six...BIG TEEENNNNNN
September 6th, 2014 at 1:01 PM ^
How was that not interference...
September 6th, 2014 at 1:01 PM ^
Wow, 14-14 'Braska vs McNeese off a 98yd pick six in the 2nd. Guess they haven't solved their turnover issues that have plagued them the entire Pelini era.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:01 PM ^
That was a total derp fest
September 6th, 2014 at 1:02 PM ^
You ever get that feeling like it's not going to be particularly good day for the big ten?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:03 PM ^
Pick 6 McNeese St.!
September 6th, 2014 at 1:03 PM ^
The BIG TEN better step it up! Looking really bad.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:05 PM ^
I didn't think it was malicious or anything, but I guess you can't lightly tap a guy in the helmet anymore

In all the wrong ways.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:07 PM ^
Akron's Defense has played okay so far...
I don't think they're nearly as bad as everyone in this thread seems to think.
Now they're going to make me look bad.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:10 PM ^
I just don't think Penn State is nearly as good as some people think.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:07 PM ^
Pulled ahead 24-7 after giving up an opening TD. Though they keep giving Howard field position. It'll come back to bite them
September 6th, 2014 at 1:10 PM ^
Who would have thought Rutgers would be the only team impressing in the early games. They have been a nice suprise so far, though WASH St. looks to be not so good.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:12 PM ^
They are Delaware State bad.

Week's score vs Akron
September 6th, 2014 at 1:11 PM ^
Considering what WSU did last night(lose) I still have no idea how good Rutgers is or even if they are any good.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:09 PM ^
Holy hell it sounds like being at Happy Valley in that stadium would be like being in Ibiza at a David Guetta concert...so much music.
*of course with the added screech Rawrs in between songs
September 6th, 2014 at 1:07 PM ^
Love seeing Rawls tear it up against Purdue!
September 6th, 2014 at 1:10 PM ^
Purdue is soooooooo bad
September 6th, 2014 at 1:14 PM ^
They need to start dishing out some of that Network cash for some good coaches.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:13 PM ^
PSU's head coach bothers me more than any other coach in the B1G. His demeanor is pretty much the model for how I don't ever want a Michigan coach to act.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:57 PM ^
I don't tknow that he's a good fit at PSU either.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:16 PM ^
The college football rapture van happen anytime as far as I'm concerned.
Purdue will be among the departures.

So who is going to be the best team in the Big 10 West this year? Iowa? Minnesota?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:20 PM ^
Iowa had trouble with Northern Iowa last week. Minnesota IIRC was outgained (or close to it) vs Eastern Illinois last week, though the score didn't reflect it.
If Stave ever comes back, I still think Wisconsin is best in the west. But they're sure stinking it up right now. There might be three or four teams in the east better than anyone in the west, which... yay geography?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
But 3:30-11pm will be some of the best football we get all year.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
So how many of these early games will the B10 lose? Im going with 5-1, Purde is toast and i think Illinois will squeak by.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
ago I used to fear losing to Purdue because they were good.
Now I fear losing to them because it would be embarrassing. Good thing we don't play them until 2039 or whatever it is.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:19 PM ^
You could kind of tell when they hired that coach that he was gonna bury that program.

This is his mess.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:33 PM ^
Yeah you're probably right. That guy was a douche. If I remember right he took some parting shots at people when he got fired, or something to that nature.

But the Purdue Administration still has some share of the blame. In 2011, with Hope leading the team to an electrifying 6-6 record, they decided to give him another year, and never even tried to pry Kevin Sumlin (a Purdue alumni btw) out of Houston.
Then they deliberately chose to go cheap and hire a so-so MAC coach
September 6th, 2014 at 1:18 PM ^
In case anyone cares (and I'm guessing you don't), Illinois is losing to WKU 10-7.
And Akron just had a huge dropped pass that would have put them in the red zone. They then proceeded to punt on 4th and 5 from the PSU 32. Wow.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:19 PM ^
punt from the 34 on 4th and 5, downed at the 9
September 6th, 2014 at 1:22 PM ^
At least it wasn't a touchback, but still. You need to score when you can against a better team. Can't just willfully turn it over, which is basically what you're doing when you punt from that part of the field.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:25 PM ^
earlier he had probably one of the worst misses I've seen in a while. Still though, 4th and 5 is managable; I agree that if you're the underdog, you have to make some plays
September 6th, 2014 at 1:21 PM ^
One of the more interesting facts about the Penn State - Akron game right now is that each teams stats are more or less paralleling one another right now. Akron has 141 total yards to Penn State's 152, similar yards per completion, rushing yards, etc..., except that 3-8 on 3rd downs for Akron outstrips Penn State's lack of third down conversions.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:24 PM ^
It really should be 7-3.

There is an actual decent football game on FS1. Iowa State is up an a ranked (???) KSU team 21-13.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:23 PM ^
They simply can't run the ball.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:24 PM ^
defensive linemen are better at being defensive linemen than offensive linemen. Who knew?

Iowa State got crushed last week by NDSU. Kind of surprised to see them up 21-13 on Kansas State.
