Noon Games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Didn't see a thread going so I figured I would get one going. There are a whole bunch of thoroughly mediocre games starting, but it's football so you are going to be watching anyway.

Personally, I'm mostly watching PSU and Akron. Akron looked good early, but sputtered at the goal line and derfed a chip shot field goal. PSU is not having much trouble now on offense.

Purdue, Wisky, Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers are also playing. All are playing awful teams.

I'm also interested in this Oklahoma game. I don't understand why they are ranked so high.

Wow, 14-14 'Braska vs McNeese off a 98yd pick six in the 2nd.  Guess they haven't solved their turnover issues that have plagued them the entire Pelini era.

Akron's Defense has played okay so far...

I don't think they're nearly as bad as everyone in this thread seems to think.

Now they're going to make me look bad.

Holy hell it sounds like being at Happy Valley in that stadium would be like being in Ibiza at a David Guetta concert...so much music.

*of course with the added screech Rawrs in between songs

PSU's head coach bothers me more than any other coach in the B1G. His demeanor is pretty much the model for how I don't ever want a Michigan coach to act.

Iowa had trouble with Northern Iowa last week.  Minnesota IIRC was outgained (or close to it) vs Eastern Illinois last week, though the score didn't reflect it.

If Stave ever comes back, I still think Wisconsin is best in the west.  But they're sure stinking it up right now.  There might be three or four teams in the east better than anyone in the west, which... yay geography?

ago I used to fear losing to Purdue because they were good.

Now I fear losing to them because it would be embarrassing.  Good thing we don't play them until 2039 or whatever it is.

In case anyone cares (and I'm guessing you don't), Illinois is losing to WKU 10-7.

And Akron just had a huge dropped pass that would have put them in the red zone. They then proceeded to punt on 4th and 5 from the PSU 32. Wow.

One of the more interesting facts about the Penn State - Akron game right now is that each teams stats are more or less paralleling one another right now. Akron has 141 total yards to Penn State's 152, similar yards per completion, rushing yards, etc..., except that 3-8 on 3rd downs for Akron outstrips Penn State's lack of third down conversions.
