Noon Games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Didn't see a thread going so I figured I would get one going. There are a whole bunch of thoroughly mediocre games starting, but it's football so you are going to be watching anyway.

Personally, I'm mostly watching PSU and Akron. Akron looked good early, but sputtered at the goal line and derfed a chip shot field goal. PSU is not having much trouble now on offense.

Purdue, Wisky, Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers are also playing. All are playing awful teams.

I'm also interested in this Oklahoma game. I don't understand why they are ranked so high.

I guess I should mention that the other 5 Big Ten teams are not doing so hot against their terrible opponents. Purdue just failed to tackle on a spectacular level and CMU is now up 14-0.

Nebraska just scored to tie McNeese St 7-7 on a busted coverage play.

Rutgers is losing 7-3 to Howard.

Wisconsin is up 2-0 on WIU. Yay

Illinois of all teams is actually winning 7-0 over WKU

TD CMU!

14-0 over Purdue on ESPNEWS. I picked them as my upset special.

Today is the first time I have my phone on and am using social media on a football gameday. Will shut off an hour before kickoff at the latest. Subs. This is crazy.

Aside from Akron's impressive yet empty opening drive they're Oline is getting bum-rushed by Penn St.  This will end up being long game for Akron.  Toledo looks sharp though.  5, 5th year grad studends on their OLine.  Holy shit!  Nice cohesivness.

Anyone expecting a miracle from Akron is kidding themselves.   They are just bad and it would have been worse than the Horror to lose to them.  App State 2007 was far better than Akron 2013.

Akron lost to UCF and Bortles 38-7, they lost to the Ohio Bobcats 43-3 and they beat the worst team in college football last year - Miami(OH) by 7.  They crushed UMass by 1.  We saw UMass in here a few years ago and it was a HS team.

This noon slate reminds me of the typical week 1 noon slot games.  I settled in on the McNeese St @ NEB game as it seems like it might be competitive at 14-7 NEB.

PS - I hate it when all the good games are in the same-ish time slot.  Really want to watch Sparty out west and the Hokies in the horseshoe too.  I guess its a good thing I don't like Nascar lol...
