Northwestern is a 4 point dawg. I'm betting them... hoping they can turn their trainwreck of a Big 10 season around today on the road.
noon games open thread
It should be a pretty good game. NW sure has "disappointed" this year. I put that word in quotation marks because I predicted months ago that NW would be overhyped. People called me crazy, but it turns out I was right.
I was in the same boat. When literally every pundit and sports personality is predicting a team to be a sleeper, the team isn't much of a sleeper, and generally fails to live up to the hype. Iowa is looking like the real sleeper these days.
I think i will be watching Nebraska at Minnesota.
This is getting interesting.
I thought Minnesota was one of the worst teams ever and Hoke and Borges failed by not beating them by enough points.
At last check, Iowa was favored by 3.5 points against Northwestern - I would think you'll see a 28-24-ish score in this one. Interestingly, Northwestern seems to find ways to turn the tables on Iowa now and again - I think it was the 2009 game where the Wildcats held Iowa to less than 70 yards of rushing, for example. According to the Tribune, Colter will be out there today, but Mark is still day-to-day, so this game could be interesting.
Taylor Martinez still throws awkwardly, but they did just go right down the field in about three minutes for a touchdown. For some reason, I'm feeling another beatdown by the hands of the Wolverines for Nebraska.
was probably incomplete? The announcers totally missed it.. if you go back and look at the low-angle replay, Bell didn't catch it cleanly and was still flailing at it when he hit the ground. Couldn't see the opposite field angle to be sure, but it's a pet peeve of mine when announcers ignore what the screen is showing...
Nebraska O just made football look easy.
CANNOT STOP THE RUN, PERIOD.
You'd think that'd put our minds at ease when we go to play them in Evanston.....
First impression: Nebraska looks good.
Meh, Nebraska's offense is pretty good, but their defense sucks. They've just benefitted from playing four really bad opponents since getting thrashed by UCLA.
I'm sure they'll put up some points against us, but I'm not really concerned with playing them. They always have a total meltdown in big road games.
Not impressed with Nebraska offense, particularly. Also, R., Hageman is a mean SOB with an NFL future.
Miami down 7 early to WF. I think Miami is one of the most overrated teams in the country. They beat two 4-3 teams and 4 terrible teams. Their schedule is a joke.
They have certainly played a weak schedule but they still havent't lost yet. An undefeated team in the ACC deserves to be around the top 10 no matter what. I feel we won't really know what they're made of until they go to Florida State.
Iowa is manball
I think that's 22 plays now for Iowa, only four of which have been passing plays, so yeah, Manball sounds perhaps right here. That, and Ferentz having at least considered - momentarily - going for it on 4th and 3.
Minny just manballed the hell out of the blackshirts.
pulverizing drive by Minny, impressive. 10-7 Neb
I love seeing Minnesota in these uniforms. They're classic. They should retire the all-maroon look.
then do what I'm doing and listen to a much more interesting broadcast here:
WTKA is doing another Ufer rebroadcast, this one of the 1979 Michigan @ msu game.
If you're not in front of you computer and are reading this from your phone, there's always the iHeart app, too. They have WTKA, of course.
Northwestern has only had the opportunity to run 11 plays on offense so far. Oddly, if you do the math, however, they are being outgained by a yard or so on a per snap basis, but then Iowa's already at 144 yards of offense, where as NW is at 39 yards.
How did NU manage to do so well vs OSU?
Ohio is a fraud, that's why.
This is correct and I'm excited for the M/Ohio game. Assuming our key players are healthy, I really think M will beat them and end this terrible winning streak. I'm so sick of hearing about "Urbz" and this stupid winning streak. Since he started coaching, they have had some of the easiest scheduling I have ever seen.
Is Nebraska's offensive line this bad?
and their RG on consecutive plays. They really ought to double-team him.
I love the crowd reaction to every fumble from every game. It's literally just a unison "OOOOHHHH."
Loving this showing by the Gophers
looked like the guy's knees were down, but alas, only one quick replay and the announcers didn't talk about it
It is reassuring to watch Minny slow down Nebraska's powerful offense. I know that the game will be bonkers to an extent, but Nebraska does not look close to the dominant program some expected going into the season.
Minny RPS-ing Nebraska like crazy.
Iowa's OC dials up a nice play action on 3rd and 2, but the QB quickly throws it away and plays for the punt. Ferentz smiles inside
Jerry Kill is shutting me up - I wasn't sure how good a coach he was, but his team's looked pretty good lately. Hope he can get his health in order.
Nebraska with a division loss? Yes please.
I have no idea if Iowa is this good or NW is just so beat up they can't do anything. I think it is the latter, but who knows.
NW was never all that good to begin with. I saw them struggle against WMU and Cal (who is now 1-6) out of conference, when they were fully healthy.
Oh yeah, I never thought they'd be the class of the conference or anything (especially after that Maine game; Cal still felt a bit like some road weirdness), but at this point they can't do ANYTHING offensively. That shocks me a bit, even given the injuries.
The other thing is that they might just be flat. They can't win the B1G or improve upon last season's record, so Fitzgerald now has to find a way to motivate them. Maybe he's not that good in that area.
Strange how only NW gets called for holding. Yes, that particular call was obvious, but Iowa's OL is a holdig machine oon pass plays.
The percentages aren't good on 4th and 10... TD Minny!
Minny showing zero respect for Nebraska's D, going for it on 4th and 10 and slinging it downfield. Love it....
Man Nebraska sure does look flat today.
that's was a gutsy call on 4&10. that's playing to win
Frustrating that you know Mark will be back when we play Northwestern and suddenly that offense will be terrifying again.
Didn't he play last week against Minnesota?
Mark hasn't made his mark this season.
No help the big ten sucks
The fact that you want to give them help concerns me. If the Big Ten is going to suck, I want OSU to go down in flames with the rest of us.
Why I even said that. Your right fuck Ohio.
They deserve no help. They already got help in the form of that crappy spot to bail them out against NW.
Hmm...Nebraska falling apart in road games. Where have I seen this before?
Abdullah back in, promptly fumbles, Minny 1st down at the NE 16 now.
I am super happy we played ths gophers early on...
They are doing nothing they didn't do versus UM. If Michigan and Minny played again the result would still be the same. Nebraska is a flaky team. Hence, the current score.
Wow, Nebraska's D is just terrible.
Also, Miami (YTM) currently choking at home, down 14-10 to Wake Forest going into the half.
Gutsy call by Minny acting coach. Wonder if Kill would have punted there?
Nebraska's defense is just getting abused right now by Minnesota. Looking like 3 scores on 5 drives.
Come on Minnesota! Have to have a TD there.
Nebraska in the first half has given up more points to Minnesota than Michigan did all game.
It is important to note at this point that Nebraska has given up 221 yards so far in the half to Minnesota and they've managed to give it up at nearly a 7 yards per snap clip. Hard to believe they were just talking about a sole defender being misaligned.
I'd love to see NE go down. They thought their shit was floral after beating a Denardless M team at home, at night last year. Screw the Huskers right now.
Nebraska was spoon-fed that win last year. Our defense was on the field at least 80% of the game and still managed to hold that "vaunted, elite" offense to 23 points. On their turf.
I have a feeling we will put another serious beating on Nebraska this year.
UConn hanging around with UCF. Do you believe!?!
Minnesota should be ready for that pitch by now. Cmon Gophers.
Martinez really does arm punt some passes. It looks almost painful for him at times.
here for Minny. Of course 4 down territory for the Huskers.
this "road to Indianapolis" jazz that was going on yesterday, and how it was going to be damn near impossible for Michigan to get there... how does that change if Minny beats Nebraska?
Im pretty confident if Michigan can beat State next week.
But we really need to beat them and State. And we need State to drop a game.
If we win out, we don't need any help.
Also, if we beat State and Nebraska, and each of them drops an additional game, we can lose to Ohio State and still advance to Indy.
This. Don't forget they play each other so we would only need the winner of the match up to drop an additional game. This Minnesota game could fit the bill.
State plays Michigan, Nebraska, and NW in succession, Nebraska and NW being on the road for Sparty. If NW gets Colter and Mark back by then, they can very well win that game.
Colter is playing today.
Good call, I stand corrected. However, they need both guys to be as dynamic of an offense as they can be.
Mark's presence keeps D's from keying on Coulter, and vise-versa.
Hell they might loose at Illinois today.
hard to recall a year when the Big Ten was so unpredictable from week to week. I suspect it only underscores how poor Nebraska has been this year.
Or how mediocre every team is in this conference.
I think our road to Indy goes through EL next week. If we can get out of there with a win, I really like our chances. Northwestern's season is teetering on collapse, Nebraska sucks in road games, which bodes well for us, Iowa is improved but is not getting to Indy. Bottom line: we need that tiebreaker over MSU.
Yeah we could still lose to OSU, but our two losses would be cross-divisional losses. Take care of business next week, and we've got a great shot to make it to Indy.
People shouldn't assume a loss to Ohio. They've been scraping by the skin of their teeth since conference play started. They're not that good. I don't know if we can beat them two weeks straight (thanks, B1G) but I do think we can in Ann Arbor.
I'm not saying we're going to lose to OSU, I'm just saying if we beat everyone else besides them it wouldn't matter, as we'd be 5-0 in divisional play.
But I agree. Judging by how closely OSU has been skating by in the last few games, their luck is bound to run out soon enough. I think it ending in Ann Arbor is a legitimate possibility. We'll have to be on top of our game, but we're a different team at home, and there's no way Hoke won't have his boys ready come Nov. 30th.
Because it's our conference record that determines whether we get into the Big Ten Championship game.
If we are 5-0 in division, lose to Ohio State, and Michigan State only loses to us, they would play in Indy because they would have 1 B1G loss (to us) while we would have two (Penn State, Ohio State.
Really? Didn't know that, but I guess you learn something new every day. I could've sworn that divisional record came before conference record, otherwise I just look at it and say what the hell are divisions even for?
But that's how it works.
Its really not that weird at all, its how every division based system works. Look at the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, any sport really....if there is a division based playoff spot it is acheived based on your overall record not your record against your division.
UM has a chance versus OSU at home for sure. UM has a chance for a loss at Iowa also for sure. Iowa is playing people tough - makes MSU's win there quite impressive.
"quite impressive" That would be that same Iowa team that lost to N.Illinois at home? And very nearly lost to ISU. Beating Iowa this year doesn't qualify as impressive and beating them by 12 defintely doesn't.
Sorry, people's hate for MSU does not mean you cannot give them kudos. Iowa literally had 2 drives the entire game - they played offense for 7 minutes at the end of 1st half when they scored 14 points. The othe 53 minutes they looked horrid. NIU is also a quality club and frankly would be in the top 5 of the Big 10 at this point based on how bad the conference is. Yes the Iowa State game was not great but who in the Big 10 has not had a laugher game - does Akron and Uconn ring a bell? Stop throwing from glass houses - we have a lot of pretty pathetic wins as well. Iowa went to OSU and gave them a good game and is not a world beater but at home they usually wont get beat down like MSU did to them.
Screen blown the fuck up!
I kinda feel bad for Northwestern. I wanted to see them do well (except against us, of course), but they seem to be slowly imploding like a flan in a cupboard.
looks vastly improved to me. Quick to the FB.
UCF - which knocked off Louisville last week and beat PSU on road - is up 38-10 on UConn at half. It is funny we actually share a lot of common opponents - they beat Akron 38-7. The only smudge on the schedule is 3 point loss to South Carolina. This is a team that can now go 11-1 with a quite simple schedule the rest of the way - should be a BCS bowl team. A very good coaching job there by O'Leary. By the way after that game Louisville coach Strong said "the best team lost" - douche. At this point UCF probably would be the 2nd best team in the Big 10 lol. My lol is a nervous chuckle, not outright laughter.
Do people actually laugh out loud when they type LOL?
I always do. You don't?
I don't us LOL in texts or online. I only ask because I see it all the time and I see people texting all the time and they are rarely laughing out loud. Also, I am not tryig to be a dick, I am honestly curious.
Actually this exchange was making me LOL but only in my head. I rarely outwardly laugh as I am a very sour man. ;) p.s. I thought your comment was being facetious rather than a serious question. If its serious than no, usually I will LOL to someone's funny comment but rarely does anything I say make myself LOL.
I only laugh out loud when other people type 'LOL', unless they are teenaged girls.
I liked the 'nervous chuckle' point though.
Northwestern still is not quite at the 4 yards per snap mark.
Of course, in Big Ten fashion, Iowa isn't exactly wowing anyone - indeed, at 4.08 yards per snap, the is literally less than 0.20 yards per snap difference between these teams.
If you looked at the box score for this game and didn't know the score, you wouldn't think Iowa was up even 10-0. Big Ten indeed.
Minn thus far with more first down, more yardage (by 50ish), almost 6 yards a rush, and 6 minutes more of possession. Nebraska also has zero penalties - random stat. All this without future "Tebow" Leidner doing much. ;)
Vitale is having a nice game for NW.
Nebraska can't tackle anyone
I am betting we are going to see Nebraska in TWIS. Anyone want to take the action?
Let's keep in mind this is Martinez's first action in well over a month. And a road game - and just about every Big 10 team goes down about 2 notches on the road. Which is why I feel more confident about the Neb game than MSU or NW.
I'm far more concerned with Iowa than NW.
Go Minny! Hey, looks like Minn has a 2 Qb system just like NW - can play anyone and put up points...
that was Nelson, the other QB. But whatever ... go gophers!
is doing a whale of a job today. 4th and 10 from the 33 got them a TD, now they line Nelson up outside and motion him under center for a QB sneak TD.
creative offensive calls for Minny ! C'mon gophers !
So is Kill actually coaching them during the week, or is the interim guy doing everything?
I often wonder what coaching is.
Does anyone else miss seeing dirty/muddy uniforms?
Still blows my mind we almoast lost to Connecticut. They are a truly terrible team.
They had about 200 yards of total offense. Gifting a team turnovers inside your 30 multiple times will make everyone look good.
Wow. Go out to run some errands and NW has tied it up, Minny is building a lead and Vanderbilt somehow put up 17 unamswered.
How does Michigan usually do when you go run errands? You might just have some special powers there ...
Nebraska's defense is a bad defense.
Minny rolling now.
I tihnk Taylor Martinez' Nebraska career is about to end. Their offense was rolling with him out.
Anyone else find it distasteful how he behaves after the other team misses a field goal? He pulled the same routine against us last year after a personal foul out of bounds.
celebrating in tennis when the other player double faults.
In regard to the missed fg, no. Is his not supposed to celebrate something positive that happened for his team? Is he not supposed to be happy for his team?
He likes to go berserk and humiliate his players when something goes wrong. But I guess it's justified because something negative happened for his team? Maybe it's just a matter of preference, but I like a little restraint until the game is over. I also think there's a difference between pumping your players up and showing up the other team.
What does Pat Fitzgerald celebrating with his guys have to do with Brian Kelly yelling at his own defensive guys? Your arugment makes no sense. Showing up the other team? Every coach in the country is clapping if the other team misses a go ahead fg in the 4th quarter.
I didn't see what Fitzgerald did this time, but if it's comparable to his celebrating against us last season, it's not just clapping. Being happy and celebratory to some extent seems fine and classy. Jumping up and down cheering like a maniac? That seems like something that should be reserved for fans.
I don't like watching the guy becasue I think he is douche but I am not going to say he can't celebrate because I don't like the way it looks while not caring at all when coaches I like do very similar things. I think people are confusing the idea of I don't like the way Fitzgerald celebrates with I don't like Fitzgerald.
I don't think a coach's reaction is black and white, especially with TV cameras on them at all times. It is not as straightforward as something positive happens, coach celebrates, something bad happens, coach throws a tantrum. I find Brian Kelly's reaction to negative things to be the mirror image of Pat Fitzgerald's reaction when something good happens. Like I said, it's just my preference, and I respect your opinion.
don't see what's not to like with Pat Fitzgerald. Is a coach not supposed to be pleased when something positive happens for his team?
Clean program, way more successful than in the past, passionate coach, PLAYER'S coach, and on and on. I like Fitzgerald...way more deserving that some of the other douches out there IMO.
His completely disproportionate celebrations aside, I think he is a really great coach. All things considered, he runs a great program.
I think Clarkie from Canada's gif below in this thread sums up my distaste with Pat Fitzgerald in this very limited context.
ESPN announcers seem to forget that there's an entire Q of football left in Minneapolis. A bit too early for the "if they can't be Minny on the road..." talk.
Well they did say if. And Minnesota doesn't exactly have a power house offense, and Nebraska is letting them drive down the field with Nelson.
Interesting non call on the out of bounds hit.
Somewhere, right now Pat Narduzzi is laughing maniacally.
Taylor Martinez just got killed.
The announcers really wanted it to be targeting, but I just didn't see it.
The guy led with his hands.
It was helmet on helmet, was absolutely a missed call, not that it mattered.
Helmet on helmet doesn't equal targeting in the rule book.
You have to launch off your feet, crouch and move upwards, lead with your head, or lower the head.
I didn't see any of those things happen. I've see plays like that called this season, but I didn't find them to be good calls
Michigan should be able to PA Nebraska to death.
Oh man! Here we go. Come on, Iowa. Make this damned kick. An 0-4 NW team puts them out of the race. Hopefully Nebraska loses to MN and it will likely be between MSU and M.
Wow that game is almost over already?
Long kick coming for Iowa.
NW not going anywhere this year. Iowa is much more of a threat.
Iowa already has 2 conference losses and faces Wisconsin next week.
They aren't a threat. Only Nebraska (if they manage to come back) and State are threats.
Hm. Iowa goes for the long pass and gets picked.
Seriously pounding on the blackshirts today.
In an alternate blog universe I wonder if Nebraska fans are currently going batshit about Bo Pelini and the defense at Nebraska?
For Husker fans going batshit over Bo Pelini and the defense, it turns out you don't need an alternate universe.
Their Osborne era fans used to annual 10 and 1 seasons playing nobody in the Big Eight must find the modern era particularly loathsome.
Nebraska's most wins have come against Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State.
Minnesota just willingly took a delay penalty to punt the ball.
I remember this not working out before in some game I cannot recall.
We actually didn't do that on 4th down against PSU. (The delay penalty was before 3rd down.) We should have though, once it got to 4th down - five more yards and the punt probably lands inside the 10.
What a TD pass for Iowa. It looked like a prayer but fell right into the guy's hands.
mismatch and QB found him. great play call against the blitz.
Iowa scores a TD on their first OT posession.
4th and 8 for NW
NW loses on a Colter run for negative yards. Wow.
Was that the play call or was it a broken down pass play?
Edit: Gamecast updated, it was a sack.
It was a pass. It looked as if the OLine doubled someone and then an Iowa player came in unblocked. No idea who or positions but it was pretty doomed.
Once again Northwestern was the popular "surprise" pick before the season, and once again it doesn't happen for them.
Their Under Armour uniforms are still awesome though.
Hear me Dave Brandon.
Wow. NW went from nominal favorites, toughest game remaining for OSU, to 4 straight losses.
Iowa beats Northwestern 17-10 in OT.
if only we played to score a TD against PSU like Iowa did we would be undefeated.
I agree, after the first OT that is. There was no point in playing for a TD after Ficken missed his kick.
Damn that Gibbons and his low kicks.
The team that goes first always plays for a TD. We did in the 2nd and 4th OTs.
The team that goes second adjusts its playcalling based on what happened in the previous half-inning. If Iowa had gone second and NW not scored, they'd have played for a FG as well.
I hate playing for fgs period because the team that does normally loses. It's one thing to have to kick the fg because u didn't score the TD but to purposely set up for the fg is stupid especially when u have mismatches at the TE or WR position and Funchess fits in both categories
You know that somehow, someway, Northwestern will get Venric Mark back 100% healthy and will start completely turning things around when Michigan comes to town.
I agree. Somehow that team will be up for us (and MSU). Lets not forget they played OSU tough at home. Mark is obviously a big key.
Just, wow Northwestern. The trendy pick to win the B1G is now 0-4 in conference play and out of any shot at Indy.
Couldn't have happened to a better guy.
Completely sums up how you don't want your coaches to behave when something "positive" happens.
685 yards of offense combined in the Nebraska-Minnesota game. Strangely, and although it may seem like a lot more, Nebraska only averages 395 yards allowed per game. They are not quite there yet - Minnesota would still need about 28 more yards to get to typical Nebraska performance. Actually, that doesn't seem like a good thing for them necessarily.
Unfortunately for us, the Colter and Mark show will be full speed and will more than likely give us hell when we visit.
Ankle injuries linger a while. Mark was ruled out of the Iowa game on Monday or Tuesday. Plus Colter needs to stay healthy in that time.
So there's that.
Where does all this blind faith in NW come from?
Yeah, they took us to OT last year, but they were a better team in general then. This year they've looked mediocre all season. And at this point team chemistry is probably shot to hell, after four straight losses.
All depends on if Mark is back or not. They just aren't the same team without him.
Even with him they looked mediocre. They were better offensively, but still terrible in the red zone, and didn't play much D then either.
NW is looking like a more comfortable game for us by the day
Miami back in front. Based on how they have looked against inferior competition and the fact that the game is in Tallahassee FSU should be at least a 2 TD favourite. Miami fans blamed the close call at UNC on being on the road. Can't use that excuse this week (although their own stadiumg is yet again half empty).
Freaking Gophers. They better not blow this game. A Nebraska loss is very important for Michigan.
Miami is overrated, I think.
Gutsy call by WF. Going for it on 4th and 5 with about 4 to play from your own 45.
And damn. Wake Forest just took the lead against Miami. Four minutes left.
Miami is the most overrated team in the country
Urban Meyer might have something to say about that.
Their conference opponents so far they already played have won a total of 6 games.
Baylor at the very least has blown away their competition. Miami has not. Not even close.
Georgia Tech alone has won almost as many games as Baylor's Big 12 opponents so far.
How do you blow that pass?
Nelson isn't exactly a guy you expect to throw on the run.
He's done it pretty well all game
Why is Nelson even playing QB? Didn't the other guy win the job?
Think he got hurt.
yup, this is happening in Minneapolis. They are going to blow this game.
EDIT: I stand corrected. Nice "punt," Nebraska punter.
This Minny game has the feel of way too many Nebraska games last year, where the Huskers unbelievably eked out unwarranted W's.
Prove me wrong, Gophers.
Miami in the red zone 1st and 10 with less than 2 minutes left. FG is no good to them.
These announcers are horrible. Mute button.
Miami may surivive, but undefeated or not they need to ne dropped in the rankings. Top 10 teams do not struggle to put away WF and UNC in back to back weeks.
Minny D coming up HUGE!
How does Miami recruit with that crowd? Oh yeah, hookers and cash.
Because Al Golden is a very good recruiter.
Ya being in Southern Florida is like being in the Gulags.
However overrated they are, its sad that Miami is #7 in America, and they still can't even get their stadium half full.
nice punt Huskers!
Don't sit on this Minny.
Minnesota had better not blow this game. We need Nebraska to lose.
Be nice if Illinois pulled out a win today too.
This game is basically the battle of who wants to lose more. All Minnesota needs to do is let a blocked FG get returned for the winning TD.
a FG here for sure. Come on Gophers.
Zook of the week
If you mean Nebraska, no, you've got to punt there. But the punt itself was just awful.
Call it a play on words.
Ahh Nebraska- pissing the game away
Miami is reminding a little bit of last year's ND. There luck however will run out next week at FSU. FSU will be in need of some style points. The FSU defense shut down Boyd. Can you imagine what they will do to Morris, who Miami doesn't even trust against WF.
Way to go Gophers.
Were you watching that Al?
My wife just asked the TV the same question
Nebraska is donions unless they can get a turnover. Minnesota is going o drain the clock now.
First time I've ever seen "donions" and I like it.
Worst call of the season in the Miami game??
That Cobb looks pretty good. How did our D do against him? I don't remember him being a factor.
7 carries for 22 yards, 3.1 yards per carry. Leidner was their main runner, but Minny as a team averaged 3.3 yards per carry.
Looking at the box score, he had 7 carries for 22 yards. Their other back, Williams, had 8 carries for 33. That game is looking like a nice defensive effort in retrospect.
Why the hell did Wake just burn a Timeout??
TD Miami to take thel ead, 53 seconds left.
...the 2nd time they've destroyed an opponenent that we struggled with.
How must Northwestern and Nebraska feel right about now?
IMO Northwestern let OSU ruin their season.
They put everything they had in that one game, with Gameday there, etc. and I don't think they've recovered.
Which is why I think they're DANGEROUS for Michgan. They get us at home and a shot a "redemption." It's going to be their Super Bowl and they're going to try and save what little hope of the season they can by beating Michigan.
Not a top 10 team.
Florida State will tear them a new one
Not even close. Fortunately FSU will knock them out next week. It will be over by half time.
I feel good for Coach Jerry Kill and a bowl eligible Minnesota.
Nelson ends the game. Buh bye Nebraska.
Hello Big 2 little 10.
Wisconsin would like a word.
GO GO GOPHERS WATCH 'EM GO GO GO!!
Go go Gophers!
Thank you Minny! I hope we don't need the help, but it's always good to see Nebraska with another loss.
Nice, Nebraska going down. Only good for us.
If we beat MSU next week, that would put us at the top of the Leaders/Legends/Velveeta division right?
Maybe Minn should just hire the interim coach on a permanent basis.
Soo any chance Bo Pelini is Nebraska next year.
Lil' BoPeep's gonna lose his sheep.
Miami pickes of the Wake QB and ends their game.
Congrats to Minnesota though, going bowling!
the gophers help us out. nice.
Productive weekend for us, and we didn't even do anything.
So, did we want NW or Iowa to win? I'm not sure either way.
Way to go gophers!
I am very glad we played Minnesota already. I am also very glad that we still have to play Northwestern and Nebraska.
Glad to see the Gophers will be bowling this year. They've had a rough season with Kill's health. Definitely will root for them to keep winning.
Can't imagine he survives. Was a poor choice in 1st place. Nebraska never did a real search.
Love this. Love this hardcore. Good riddance and fuck Nebraska.
Taylor Martinez ends the game in typical Taylor Martinez fasion.
Martinez throws pick. Looked like he meant to do it.
Aww yeah T-Magic. What a deliciously Nebraska-like ending to this game.
Very happy for the gophers.
That Minnesota win a few weeks ago actually looks like a decent win. Clearly Nebraska and NW aren't as good as previously advertised...still, Minnesota beat them both. Gotta give them credit, they've looked like a pretty solid football team last couple games.
Barring any Husker catastrophes, the final line on the Nebraska defense is 432 yards allowed spread over 70 plays, or 6.17 yards per snap on average. Most glaring were the 273 rushing yards allowed.....also that INT which ends the game.
You tried, Nebraska. It was chuckle-worthy, but you did.
And BoPeep's supposed to be a defensive guy.
Looks a lot better than it did two weeks ago. Go Gophers!
Pelini surprisingly classy with Minny acting head coach Tracy Clays there.
Nebraska fans on fire at present.
Good for them though.
"... so if you could just get off the team bus now, that'd be greaaaaaat."
Bo gets the Kiffin Experience. Ouch. At least Nebraska will win TWIS. That's one win for the week.
To make this situation even more embarrassing, this meeting may happen at a non-descript truck stop somewhere between Omaha and Lincoln.
CorNation is on fire. Active thread is called "Post-Game Suicide Prevention Thread".
TWIS can just be a link to that site.
I was at App State game so I understand the CorNation response; we're probably the wrong fanbase to point any fingers.
Happy for Minnesota. Been saying this all along about Nebraska, though. This defense is just much too poor for the team to be taken seriously as a Big 10 title contender. A win against sparty next week would be absolutely huge for our season, assuming the offense has righted itself and we play smart football from here on.
Bill Cubit seems to know waht he is doing.
