Not many interesting games on at noon. What's everyone watching?
Noon games open thread
on HowardTV FTW.
as he watches pornography.
After that, I'll probably watch the Illinois/Purdue game.
Get a better feel for them. Also, I have Tenn and South Carolina. Other than that, I got nothing. Porn sounds good.
Going back to sleep and hoping for a good game when I wake up
RAndom Gameday fluke:
Did Herbstreit just say he likes Michigan "at home" against PSU
The game is at Happy Valley boss
So I'm watching gameday right now and their doing the picks.....Corso has that big ass mascot head of his on....it''s killing me...funniest thing Corso has done in years....
Yale bowl...Columbia vs Yale. Woooooooooo! Thanks YES Network
Did monty burns have his Yale flag out there?
I'm not real excited about it but they are the next two opponents so it should be informative.
Can anyone hit me with some stream links?
edit: nvm ESPN3 has me covered.
I'm watching Indiana and Northwestern to go along with Ill/Purdue. I'm hoping for an Indiana win.
So what you're saying is the O/U for that game will probably be around 100 points.
what a change of pace that will be from the past two years
Purdue's offense sucks too
Maybe it was the O/U on Michigan's points
Purdue's pass rush is hypothetical. At best.
they lead the big ten in sacks...
Western Illinois, Ball St, Toledo, Minnesota. Pretty sure Mike Martin would lead the nation in sacks if he got to play those 4 teams.
I have, believe it or not, IU/NW and Cincy/Scuse on my two main TVs. I have bets on IU and the Orange.
Games on all the other sets, but those are the two I am keeping my keenest eye on for the moment
may I ask where you place your bets? Local bookie, or online site?
Watching Rally to Restore Sanity until better quality games decide to come on.
Thank you sir for reminding me! Channel 248 it is.
Meh. I see alot of bad jokes, poorly executed and generally receiving only courtesy laughs, at best. The transfer from TV to DC doesn't seem to be working very well. At least not for me.
Why was the kicker running away from the play after hitting the Purdue player with the kickoff? That was hilarious.
Denard is going to have a 500+ yard day against this Purdue defense. They're awful.
Illinois-Purdue..... that was one of the best onside kicks I've ever seen. And it was an accident. Probably the quickest recovery by the kicking team ever too. Not sure why the kicker ran directly off the field right after he kicked it, that was a bit strange. Just a weird play all-around.
Two consecutive thoughts:
Pre snap: "gotta get low here... low man wins."
After the touchdown: "see, that's why you've gotta tackle high at the goal line."
"The three positives I look for in a quarterback are decision making and playmaking"
This commentary is golden haha.
Commentator about Purdue:
"They're on pace for about 4 yards this game"
Ben Chappell looks like he's totally lost it. He's nowhere near on target on anything
Currently watching my hangover morph into hair of the dog
i could drink right now, but after my performance at the wedding i stood in last weekend which involved me getting stitches my wife would kill me...
Homecoming 2 weeks ago, but will get back on the wagon this afternoon.
What in the heck did you do?! I can't judge, At one wedding, we were all staying in cabins, so we had our after party there and I was definitely hanging from the rafters... i should have gotten injured then, I just got lucky.
i was really drunk according to my wife and i started to fall (pass out) asleep at the very end of the reception... my wife told that i needed to go to bed, we argued a bit, and then she left and i followed her to our hotel room where we argued some more... she told me to go to bed again and i said no and left the room, she came after me and grabbed my shirt...( the reception was at the embasy suites in livonia and its an open concept hotel so when you walk out of your room you can look over a railing and looked down into the main area of the hotel)... when my wife grabbed my shirt i tried to pull the "slide out of your shirt" move to get free, well in the process i got hung up in my shirt and got spun around, my feet went out from under me and my face hit the railing... my right eyebrow exploded and was gushing blood... went to the hospital in an ambulance and got a CT and 9 stitches...
Damn, buddy.... that story is way better than Illinois/Purdue game. Too bad we couldn't see that on TV instead. (Seriously, hope you're ok though!)
i'm ok... i got the stitches out yesterday and my eyebrow should cover up the scar pretty good... the only thing that pisses me off is that i didn't get a better black eye out of it...
Hair of the dog.... the only way to go.
or the "special breakfast" from Angelo's.
to love the fact that in order for purdue to have any type of running game they have to have both QB's in the game... and from the sounds of it, its their last 2 QB's so if one gets hurt they are screwed...
And one of them threw 25 passes in his entire high school career...
Waffles or Pancakes?
Just got absolutely smoked. Wow.
Props to him for stepping into that throw, but I don't think we'll see him back this game. He looks pretty damn woozy.
That was one of the nastiest hits I have seen in a while. It looked pretty clean, but his head really snapped forward before being slammed back into the turf.
Miami looked pretty bad before Harris left, and now they look awful. They were OSU's one quality win over a decent team. OSU still has to play Iowa and us, but their schedule currently doesn't look that great.
Not watching that one, is he still hobbling as bad as he was during the FSU game?
It seems when the RB is deeper than the QB it’s a run (like Tate last year), even with the QB= pass.
He just said "If you throw an interception, don't make matters worse by getting yourself hurt." He was obviously referring to Jacori Harris. Yet the update from the UVa - Miami game clearly showed that Harris got hurt when he was lit-up just after releasing the pass, so it's not as though he did something foolish after the interception that resulted in the injury. WTF?
Probably meant it the other way around. If you are going to step into a throw and take a big hit, at least make the throw accurate.
I don't think that's what he actually meant, but I like Griese so I am going to pretend that is what he meant and that I just heard him wrong.
I'm going to have to agree with Ch125 on this one.
I should clarify--I was referring to Bob Griese, who is covering the Illinois-Purdue game. I did not realize Brian Griese is doing to Miami-Virginia game.
we need to block #93
Just got clothes-lined by Purdue's NG. Hopefully that happens a few more time today so he gets softened-up for next week.
Purdue is not good at all.How did they beat Northwestern?
the Miami game? Jacorey Harris got lit the fuck up!!
I've been watching the rest of the wheels come off Danny Hope's head coaching career
Harris is done for the game and his back up has thrown 3 straight picks..
He's the OC's son right? He looks pretty bad... like REALLY bad.
the OC son.. he was so bad they pulled him for the 4th string true frosh that isin't even on the depth chart.. imagine that feeling lol. Your dad pullin you for a kid like that.. the 4th string actually doesn't look bad.
Bah, it needs to be 330. These games are not very entertaining.
Down 17-0. Fantastic. How will the power of that jagoff stache save you now?
There's precious little better than Saturday Schadenfreude.
When is Cinemax going to launch a soft-porn halftime show? That's what is needed.
on ESPN isn't much better... but that might be because i think robert smith is a giant douche...
Yeah this shit is pretty hilarious right now, got to be better than this set of noon games.
True. Funny stuff.
NIce little back and forth to end that half in Bloomington. IU's D has looked competent for the most part
Storyline now is can the Cuse hold on for another big win......and if the Vols can stay in this and somehow nip the Gamecocks, then the SEC East race is even more choatic and the stakes for the Cocktail Party later today are raised several pints worth of Bourbon and Lynchburg Lemonade
That will be a tough game.
It sure is looking that way. But hopefully they are just peaking right now in a home game against a terrible opponent.
Illinois might not be bad, but man. PU's D makes ours look somewhere between competent and good. How does Leshoure get so ridiculously far open?
Yeah, that game will be tough indeed. And the tougher that game looks the more important it becomes that we beat PSU and Purdue.
That was SO wide open for Illinois. WTF.
think you can be more open than that...
Watching Scheelhaase run the read-option so successfully against Purdue makes me drool at the thought of Denard running it.
Morris (true freshman not even on the depth chart) now in for Miami down 14-0.
I just spent the better part of the morning running some errands here and there in a typical retail strip deep in the heart of Nittany country. Naturally, I was sporting a maize and blue hoodie and in the morning even featured the beanie Tate made famous last year.
Long story short, PSU-wearing locals eyed me everywhere I went AND SAID NOTHING. The most flak I caught was from some bandwagon Buckeye who thinks Krenzel is the best current QB in the Big Ten. At any rate, last year I endured a literal onslaught of verbal assault from the Penn State faithful, but this year, they are indeed ascared.
They can smell the blood in the water, and it is their own. Unleash the sharks with dreadlocks.
how the heck was Krenzel brought up?
Horrible holding call on UVa. That WR bitched that DB for 10 yards just pushing him straight back. WR had hands inside, no jersey pulling, just flat out destroyed that corner.
I think the ref was so amazed on how badly that DB was playing that he had to assume it was holding.
Cavs now up 17-0 on Canes
I think you can cross "punting" off of your list of things Purdue doesn't suck at.
Which leaves... uh... Completions to Tacopants, and maybe coach's ability to grow 80's moustache?
Alright I'm going to ask because I always see it and I feel like I'm that awkward guy who laughs at other peoples inside jokes... How did the Tacopants stuff originate?
Brian deemed Jason Avant's invisible friend Tacopants. He's like 16 feet tall, made of dreams, and has unending eligibility. Tacopants was Henne's favorite target.
Also known as Chad Henne loved to overthrow Avant.
I find it hard to believe that isn't in the FAQ or HOF. If it isn't, it should be.
I can finally get a good night's sleep now.
While Tacopants was first identified by name sometime around 2006, he was first referenced in Brian's legendary "John Navarre blamed for 9/11" article for the Every Three Weekly in 2002.
K-State and OK-State are both playing good defense today. Strange.
Refs are throwing a few loose flags though.
Other than the second half against MSU, the Illini have looked pretty good. Right now, they are up 31-0 on Purdue and they are seriously looking like the biggest obstacle over the next 3 weeks. Are Purdue and Penn State really that bad, or is Illinois getting good?
Looks like a combination of both. Illinois will be quite a test for our team.
is really that bad...
Purdue and PSU are pretty good at making opponents look good, but Illinois deserves some credit for stepping up their play as well. They're definitely the toughest of the next 3 opponents.
They looked respectable in their loss to Ohio State (they may even have won that game had the refs not handed OSU a much-needed first down on a late 4th down play), they destroyed Penn State, and are now putting it on Purdue. I still like UM's chances at home but it is definitely a game we could lose.
They played a great game against O State. They will score 35+ on us, so the question is, can we beat that D?
It's not a given that they'll score that many. Freshman QBs on the road aren't always a sure thing.
Scheelhaase seems to be growing into the job at QB. I don't like to see that. I think he might still be liable to have a meltdown on the road, though.
at the Rally to Restore sanity? I remember a line about him from one of those VH-1 countdown shows. He has his lucid moments and then the Jaeger kicks in.
I want to see a huge scoring day against Purdue. I will be disappointed if we don't hang 60 on them.
I've been writing about Ebert since the middle of summer, I hate it that he's burning me right now. He sure is open a lot today
to be fired if we lose to Purdue this year. (mainly /s - but DAMN they are bad)
... flag on the play.
Miami's 4th string QB just threw up a duck in the back of the endzone, but it was a great play for the VA DB to get his foot down. On review but looks good.
was just the worst pass in the history of passing. Someone throw in the towel, they're getting KILLED out there...
is looking very good! I'm starting to get a little worried about next week's game. On the other hand, our game against PURDON'T in 2 weeks should be a laugher.
Sadly I am now watching IU-Northwestern as that seems to be the only competitive game in HD.
I'm sort-of rooting for Indiana, but that "First down Hoo-siers!" song is brutal to listen to.
Fake punt Tennessee, and then they follow it up with a TD strike on the next play.
That despite Purdue's complete and utter ineptitude, even THEY can kick field goals.
But I got BC-Clemson on in my area /s. Man, the ACC is bad. V-Tech plays Thursday, so they'll stick in the top-25 to avoid the Big East's humiliation. But, FSU might drop out, and the U will be gone. NC State and Maryland are lurking in the also-votes
Do you think any of the UM players are watching Purdue-Illinois right now? It's too early to go to the stadium -- any chance they are eating some pasta and scouting for the next two weeks?
I'd say probably not. If they're watching anything, you'd better bet it's Penn St game film.
Did anyone see that Interception return by Virginia? Miami's offense looked like a high school team trying to tackle there haha.
Then Tennessee had its typical second-half meltdown. I'm waiting for 3:30. These games sort of stink.
that it's devil's night.. i didn't even realize this..
So what you're saying is Denard is about to raise hell in Happy Valley?
+1 good sir! that was nice.
I am surprised the NCAA doesn't require Michigan State to have a bye week when Devil's Night falls on a Saturday
Oh god, if they lose to Iowa I feel bad for all those couches. Must be good business owning a furniture store in East Lansing though.
made sure that they atleast put the game in Iowa City.. that's the best they could do.
Tulsa held ND to a 3-and-out, and is currently in the red zone.
UPDATE: Touchdown, Golden Hurricane. XP good, 7-0.
Considering it's the biggest game he's ever coached in and all
Notre Dame Stadium is quiet, lifeless, and unengaged. Not surprising, given the tragedy this week and the generally lackluster play this year... but this does not bode well.
ND is so down right now its crazy. whooops they just scored. Damn my timing.
Clemson goes for it on 4th. It has all day as BC's rushing only 3. Then Clemson throws it short, and the BC defender is there to tackle him short of the first.
Tulsa is moving he ball on ND and just scored while I'm typing this.
Tennessee and SC all tied up.
I wish I could get that game out here on the West Coast.
CBS sports interview with Tebow comin up next.. should be interesting.
Dayne Crist is an idiot for not getting running out of bounds on that play.
The Tommy Rees show commences. This will not end well.
Anyone else watching Illinois v. Purdue catch that comment about Kiffin? "I don't trust anything Kiffin says..."
How is that a late hit on Reese.
Just made ours look stellar.
ND scored a touchdown... but Tulsa blocked the XP and returned it for two points.
How about the upset in the making in Virginia? That's very unfortunate because I kind of like Shannon, but he has been falling short of expectations in Miami. A few former players are becoming quite vocal about it too.
tulsa returning [that blocked xp] to glory. tremendous jim.
BOWL ELIGIBLE! 6-2!
Now without a doubt they can beat my beloved buffalo bills. But, still, no one circles the wagons like the....well maybe not anymore.
Canes on a comeback!
It is pretty much over now. But, it was a nice attempt at a comeback.
is acting like they just won the super bowl.. The head coach dropped to his knees crying and they stormed the field... really?
Syracuse isn't bowl eligible yet b/c two of the wins are against FCS teams. They need to win one more.
Miami just scored and are within a touchdown with over 4 minutes to play
FCS wins count and have for sometime now...
I thought only 1 per season could count.
1 victory against an FCS team counts towards eligibility:
Syracuse beat Maine and Colgate.
The 'Cuse have Louisville, Rutgers, UConn and BC left, so chances are good.
OK so the night games are awesome but I am going to be in full withdrawl by 3:31pm.
He's on the way to the locker room with his knee immobilized.
Bowl eligibility is in serious jeopardy at this rate.
I don't know. Rees looks pretty good.
Scott. Fucking. Shafer.
Hook-and-ladder gets ND a TD. For the biggest game of his career, Kelly is pulling out all the stops.
We are all Hawkeyes today.
Very glad there is no ACC game to coincide and push this game off to cable.
c'mon Stanzi! America rules baby!
Anyone got a webstream link for Iowa MSU?
Edit: nvm, for some reason didn't think ESPN3 would have it.
Edit2: This even has been blacked out in my area, gonna need a livestream link because ATDHE is down.
What was the ND receiver looking at? How'd he miss it that badly?
Looks like we've passed the HOLD ONTO THE GODDAMN BALL baton to ND.
Purdue is painful to watch on offense jesus
Robinson is plowing over MSU defenders. We stopped him sometimes, not baaaad at all.
stanzi! love it or leave it!
MSU seems to be a team that starts off slowly and then recuperates (against Illinois , against Northwestern)
Hopefully Iowa doesn't blow the lead here
mgotarheal just opened an afternoon game thread, onward my CFB junkies.
