Games are started. Here's a place to start the discussion as it will inevitably spread to multiple threads later.
What's everyone watching?
By the by, on ABC on Dishnetwork, I've currently got power rangers. Rampant Disappointment.
I get "That's So Raven." Woo DirecTV!
Yeah, morning games ain't all that. Put a little money on Minnesota to cover, so watching that game.
The way the teams are returning kicks/moving the ball, I hope you also took the over. 2 big returns and Decker just made a great catch.
Navy marching down the field against OSU (I'm guessing it doesn't last though)
Watching Minnesota. I had no idea Weber from MN was 2nd team all big ten last year. Good for him, I guess.
Watching the hometown team Iowa and now Navy's exciting drive against Ohio State. Nothing will come of it probably.
Wow they scored.
WOO TOUCHDOWN NAVY!
Man, Navy is fun to watch. The triple option is a thing of beauty, and Navy is moving the ball on offense. Don't think Navy can hold OSU on defense, but this should be a fun game.
I know, it's the first quarter. But MAN, Navy is executing extremely well at the Horseshoe. They drive methodically all teh way down the field on OSU. That had to be a 15 play drive.
7-7, 10 minutes gone.
Oh no, is this going to turn into a haloscan open thread? :)
That would be awesome and sad at the same time. Drupal makes this load over a much longer time.
triple option is so fun to watch
I think (and hope) that Navy-OSU will be closer than everyone thinks. Navy has a pretty good fundamentally sound team. And I think OSU's offense is still working out some kinks as it seems.
So far a good game though.
I have to believe that OSU has been spending a lot of time on things to help them next week, and the triple option is so weird it's go to be hard to simulate in practice.
So far it doesn't look like Navy has the athletes to compete on defense though.
Let's hope that this game shows us a weakness in OSU's ability to defend a triple option.
We can only hope we have more of a passing threat than Navy.
Well I believe that so far Navy is executing pretty well. For an offense that visually looks predictable, it's all about execution and thats what Navy has been doing.
For us I believe our offense provides a couple more surprises so as long as we can play well, I think we should have a chance, and that goes for every game.
Minny looks pretty good. 2TDs already (1 was a really short field because of a TO, though) Cuse could just be that awful.
about how his arm strength is weak, but strong enough, how mentally strong he is... When RR was talking to him, people thought RR was desperate. Go figure.
Dobbs looks great!
Lou isn't MY type, but whatever floats your boat.
Paulus isn't looking that bad. I'm somewhat surprised. That scramble and pass was actually really well done.
he did move nicely.
Somebody else please tell me they also caught the OSU female fan cheering for the wrong team after Navy scored that TD! Hilarious!
If you have DVR, enjoy it!
Navy looked much better on defense on that second possession.
I'm on vacation at a rented cottage near Jackson with no cable and an MSU family (obviously I'm not an MSU fan).
They all went to the bar to watch that game but I'm watching the OSU - Navy game and cheering for Navy. Keeping up with scores via Yahoo.
you can watch the Navy game here
I only have 1 bar of wifi here otherwise I'd go there. I'll have to just deal with it, but I get ABC here so it'll seem even better to watch Michigan dismantle WMU.
yeah if you dont have good internet access I dont recommend it. Im currently usong the slowest internet conection known to mankind and its very annoying. Keeps going on and off.
Mine keeps dropping too. I just can't wait until 3:30.
for the BTN? My parents house is getting PSU and not MSU, so they won't stop calling me.
I'll tell them to try 691.
Thats not the channel for SD hold on let me find it.
for SD as well. Thanks.
Oh yeah, I guess you're not disallowed from watching HD channels on SD. They didn't seem to have any actual BTN alternates so there wasn't an SD channel anyway.
By the by, word on the street is we will be having a CiL for the Western Game. More details as I get them.
Loving the way Navy has picked apart OSU a little bit this first quarter. The spread option can work, now we just gotta see how we execute today!
LIke the trend;
give up a TD
give up a FB
almost get a safety...
What's next; get a TD on defense?
Nice TD pass by Paulus. Kid is looking not bad so far.
Wow, WVU tied with Liberty. Is now the beginning of the end of the Coach Stew era?
tied 3-3. 78 and 74 total yards respectively. Wow.
Is that 74 yards combined or 74 yards each?
Each, UNI up 10-3 now. Damn.
One thing Navy can't afford is turnovers...UGH!!!
Minnesota's defense still sucks. Paulus just faked them out and threw a touchdown to a wide open receiver. This is not good when the Big East's worse team is only losing by 4...
...he's kinda awesome. His passion/intensity comes across as real, not manufactured...and he's a X's and O's analyst first unlike most others that work for the WWL.
Craig James, whose calling our game, is a little arrogant and SEC loving for my taste. (but he just defended RR this morning, so I'll tolerate him for today)
Tressel getting cocky
If Pryor goes down OSU is screwed at QB unless this series was an aberration of some sort. Bauserman is slow on his feet and appears to take too much time to make a decision. His accuracy was meh.
Syracuse stuffs 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 at the Syracuse 40. Big turn over.
Minnesota's O is sputtering after first few drives. Dunno why Decker hasn't gotten more looks; Minnesota is running the ball more than Mason did.
Is Boren playing?
Yeah, LG. No idea how good he's been playing though as I've been watching 'Cuse Minne$ota
they are already hyping him up. Already had the MICHIGAN TO OSU OMGzzz tape queued up a couple times. I haven't been watching closely, but a terribly undersized Navy DLine has been getting good pressure on the QB from Boren's side.
Why is Pryor on the bench?
wanted to get Bauserman in no matter what.
For all those who joked about Paulus being a horrible option for Michigan QB, this game is proving otherwise. Granted, Michigan also beat Minnesota last year, fwiw.
Yea he is looking pretty damn good I have to say. The way he went up to line and then backed off and got Minn to show their blitz was pretty impressive. That drive couldn't have gone any better for them.
Holtz says Weis is the most underrated college football coach in the nation!!! Mark it down!
EDIT: He's being ripped a new one. Fun to watch.
Did Holtz really say Weis is underrated? Or did I imagine that?
My God the Big Ten is looking very bad so far. Syracuse up on Minnesota by 1 and Iowa losing to Northern Iowa by 7. The Big Ten may be worse than the ACC this year.
Let's not say things we can't take back...
That's good news for us. Iowa may be beatable.
at Wendi Nix's nerd glasses
Anybody else see that "ORE suspsneds LaGarrette Blount"?
ESPN never fails to bring the lolz.
Is anyone able to see that game? Geez, I thought Iowa might be a dark horse to win the Big Ten... Is there an injury to Stanzi or something?
nice pass by navy. at least its still an interesting game.
Coaching mistake by Tressel: Goes for it on 4th down instead of taking easy FG to make it 3 score game.
Navy gets long TD pass to close the game down.
dumb mistake by Tressel, out of character for him because he is usually conservative
gave OSU a great game. If it wasn't for the bad decision on the 2-pt conversion, this game could've been tied with 2:23 left! Pryor looked good passing early on. OSU's running game doesn't look very good. Their best running play was the option pitch to the outside. There wasn't much up the middle, which was odd because OSU's OL outweighed Navy's D line by about 45 pounds. Boren looks way too big, almost out of shape big.
Navy coach must be regretting that pass call on the 2-pt extra point try. Not because of the pick-two return. That had no impact on the outcome as Navy never got the ball back. But rather, going with a play that's not Navy's strength. There were four Buckeyes covering or in the passing lane on that play. It had no chance.
Minnesota and Syracuse in a close one on ESPN2. Apparently Scott Shafer is the Defensive Coordinator at Syracuse, and granted they're playing Minnesota, but the D looks pretty good. Gave up 2 TDs early, but since has only surrendered a field goal. Minnesota is driving though, with under 2 minutes to play.
