Noah Spence to return for the Michigan game?

Submitted by btn on

He apparently has a hearing with the B1G next week about his eligibility, and many of their fans think he is going to be reinstated.

As a long time participant in this great community, I could see what was coming and I told myself that I would just sit out the CC commentary.

With all due respect why does someone post these type of comments? I get the notion, which I share, that we are likely going to lose vs. OSU. But what I sense from many posts over the past weeks is that people take some joy from the situation. That kind of attitude is sad, and reminiscent of the RR demise, which was an unpleasant time for the blog. RR was a good man who didn't succeed. Hoke is the same. Why piss on the team, players and coaches, with this kind of stuff? Pathetic

Think of how monumental an upset would be.  Think of how it would end all discussion of OSU getting into the playoff this year.  If OSU comes into this game thinking about how they are going to win by 50 and "make a statement" to the playoff committee, they could become frustrated during a close game.

This would be the biggest upset in the history of the rivalry.  Not saying it will happen by any means, but it sure would be hilarious if it did.

He's a politician.

Look, I know I sound like a cynic.  I have family having addiction problems, it's terrible.  If this kid did need help, it probably was the right move to keep him around the program.

Having said that, Urban basically just taught a class in public relations for this.

I would take it with a grain of salt, because it sounds like Spence is the one saying he's going to play. His appeal is next Tuesday, so we'll see when it comes.

Hopefully he is no longer addicted to Molly, that's obviously the most important part, but stepping off my soap box, holy shit this would be huge for d-line depth, the run defense and Bosa especially. The d-line has played below expectations this year and has a lot less depth than was forecasted, so this would be huge.

Is thats what its called when you just want to have the best imaginable feeling and be as happy as can be, enjoy literally every sensation so much that you want to do it again the next weekend?

Who could do that shit all the time, its so draining!

It may be more accessible because there's very little MDMA in it.

Save for one or two times, I was never wild about it.  There was a doofus in East Quad that used to dispense hits like Sweet Tarts to freshmen women (read: my girlfriend on one occasion) as a means of giving and copping back rubs (to and almost from my girlfriend). Pissed me off.  And people were idiots on E.  Ever walk into a small room of folks in mid-roll? Not an enlightening experience.

Pressies are usually rc's these days. Not to mention the occasional meth bomb. Molly is supposed to be 100% pure mdma. 7, 8 years ago anyway. Unless you know where its coming from or have testers don't fuck with it if you're unsure. You'll probably get bath salts or meth. I don't fucks with any of that shit anymore.

Back in the day when it was X, and much stronger, u are right. Other than fooling around with chicks on a few occasions i always had the most fun walking around campus just clowning with a bud or two. We always made our own fun, rarely did I do it a parties. When I did I would dance my ass off tho and have a complete blast!

Whether it has any affect on the outcome of the game or not is not the point. I believe he tested positive for ecstasy before last year's bowl game and drew a 1 year suspension. His parents got it down to a 3 games by claiming someone slipped it into his drink. Before he was able to return for the 3rd game this year he tested positive again. I think this destroys their case that someone slipped it into his drink the first time. He should never play in the BIG again, but now we hear he could be coming back. WOW.

It is a complete joke.

The problem is that it is in the B1G financial interest to let their best playoff contender get one of their best players back prior to the playoffs.

I suspected this would happen when his parents went the "he has an addiction and is getting treatment" route after his 2nd positive test.   I assume they did not think the "our son is a liar who likes to party" angle was not going to be a winner in the appeals process.

I'd bet he tests positive again before this whole saga is over.

Isnt the rule that two positive tests are permanent banishment?

He tested positive and was suspended.  Made up some (now clearly evident) bullshit story that he was drugged, so got his suspension reduced.  Tested positive a second time, thereby showing that his first "story" was a bald faced lie, and, as required by the rules, was ruled permanently ineligible.  How could they ever justify reinstating him in less than a year, especially being he lied the first time?   The B1G would look awful, especially if they did it during the season.  This isn't some draconian punishment ala McGary for one positive test for pot while not even playing.   Even though molly or ecstacy isn't the hardest drug, its not like pot where states and the pro-leagues are decriminalizing it.

You guys don't understand.

Clearly ecstacy was slipped into his drink, and he became addicted to it from that occurance. He is the victim here! UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ UNZ

So this kid tests for ecstasy twice, and could come back before the end of this season? Meanwhile, McGary tests for weed one time and is banned for the entirety of the next season? The inconsistencies of the NCAA are just as baffling as that of the NFL.

I'm not mad at OSU or anything, and it's not like whether or not he comes back is going to make any bit of difference in the outcome of next week's game. It just means Gardner is going to spend that much more time running for his life.
