No Booze in the Suites
I work at the stadium and I heard through the grapevine that the vote has gone through and there will be no booze in the new premium suites. If you were paying $70k+ with a 3 year commitment wouldn't you need a dirty martini to get through another season? I was just curious as to why they would vote this way. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

Didn't realize this could be voted on. Thought that since the stadium is on campus alcohol was automatically out. Nonetheless, if you can afford $70K for a suite I suspect you can afford one heck of a nice flask.

..and they are losing a cash cow. They could allow alcohol, but make it come from concessions. They would make a ton of money and everyone would be happy. People who can afford to buy suites are used to paying absurd prices for drinks and wouldn't complain.

They probably dont want to deal with the outcry from the rest of the general public not fortunate enough to afford a suite. I would love for there to be alcohol in the stadium, but i believe NCAA regulations prohibit it. It would help rile up some of the blue hairs. Michigan has some of the best breweries in the country/world (Bells, Dark Horse, jolly pumpkin, etc.), help stimulate the economy and the crowd.

There are a number of colleges that sell it, so it's not an NCAA regulation. There was a big debate about alcohol at TCF Bank Stadium when it was built. Every big ten school but Michigan and Minnesota prohibit it in general areas and sell it in premium seating I believe.

Boone's Farm stand would be nice too. Help get the student section in before half time as well.

I was planning on selling my liver on the black market to afford the $55,000/year price tag anyway.....

those in the suites will just have to somehow get by with drinking chardonnay accompanied by a nice brie beside their custom painted Fleetwood RV's parked in the Blue Lot.

it has always been made pretty clear that the premium seating was going to be alcohol free.
Which makes the tab that much harder to swallow.

Hmm, I smuggled in flasks of alcohol back when I was a student, and I bet I can do it again if I had to for the suites.

For me, I will never be allowed back in them after we finish our work there! I have brown hair and a hefty student loan bill, so I don't meet the criteria for suite attendance anyhow. We all know that you are supposed to get crunked up by 10am and coast the rest of the day. Screw $10 drafts from the vendors.
