NJ Newspaper Posbangs Jabrill For Staying at Michigan

Submitted by MLaw06 on

Jabrill was the feature of a positive article from the leading newspaper in northern NJ (which has a fair amount of elite HS talent, including from powerhouses Paramus Catholic and Don Bosco Prep).  The gist of the article is that Jabrill remained loyal to Michigan and now he is reaping the rewards of being coached by Coach Harbaugh.

From what I’ve heard, Peppers never considered transferring from Michigan, and now he looks like a genius because former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh took over the vacant position and immediately made Michigan the talk of the college football world.

...

We all knew Peppers could handle the spotlight of winning; he’s got four football state championships, four Tournament of Champions track titles and a storage room full of awards to prove it.

What we didn’t know was how Peppers would handle adversity. Would he run from it? Or would he stand firm and accept the challenge?

He chose the latter, never wavered in that belief, and now he can reap the rewards while all the bandwagon jumpers scramble to get back on the ride.

In addition, there is some general advice to prospective D-I athletes:

Choose the school, not the coach.

It seems like an obvious and straightforward piece of advice, one virtually every athlete and sports fan has heard at some point in their life.

Coaches come and go. The school is forever.

I can't wait to watch this kid healthy. I hope the staff finds a way to get the ball in his hands. Does anyone think if he stays healthy maybe the staff tries to put him at RB w/ all of the issues we had with RB's finding holes last year? I mean cumong man!

Well, you just told me that I had a plethora, and I would just like to know if you know what it means to have a plethora. I would not like to think that someone would tell someone else he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora.

Has anyone noticed how the media are constantly "upvoting" the University of Michigan football program now?  The entire narrative has changed.  I am glad; I was getting really tired of reading about the "beleagured Michigan Wolverines."

If "flipping" the media is any indication, Harbaugh will flip a lot of recruits by NSD.

But they shouldn't put him in at RB.  We have more than enough talent there.  Fix the OL and we'll be fine. Howeva, I WOULD love to see him either returning kicks or punts.  Bless Dennis Norfleet, but I just don't think he has the power and breakaway speed we need to return kicks for TD's.

What is most amazing about this article to me is not that Jabrill gets praised for doing the right thing (which obviously he did) but that these articles are being written about Michigan since we got Harbaugh and how quickly we are being talked about so positively in the media.

There is a huge Michigan fanbase in the NYC metro area and they have been electrified by Coach Harbaugh's hiring.  Everyone is eager to see Michigan get back on top; where it belongs!
