alternate headline: man does job
I still miss nike...
Yea so do I
Let Nike continue to make Oregon look like clowns on the field while giving their athletic department a blank check. I don't want any UM $$ to help with that.
Almost wouldn't have hurt as much had we not worn them against Spartina in Trash Tornado Spartyland. Even their ridiculous Colorado State knock-offs couldn't conceal the truth. OMG CLOWNS!
"Trash Tornado Spartyland" FTW
I am far too lazy to put in the vast amonut of time and effort that would require.
the University staff who approved this design - not Adidas. The fixation on Nike v Adidas has always baffled me. The only way that ever made sense to me is if someone actually said they like the swoosh and they do not like the three-stripe triangle.
It is really interesting to see how strong of an emotional connection people have to Nike/Adidas. I wish people would just admit that is the basis for their opinion because the stuff for sale to the public from both companies is quite comparable.
And no I am not an Adidas employee :-)
I think it is old vs young in this situation. Lots of younger kids/recruits really like the Oregon uniforms. It may seem ugly or insignificant to some, but that kind of stuff catches the eyes of recruits.
As a member of the "younger" generation, I can assure you this is not the case. Boo Adidas and your 15,000 uniform variations!
As a marathon runner...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
I find running 26.2 miles rather fun.
I don't understand why people miss Nike. Nike and Adidas apparel are basically the same other than the logo.
Cus this is Michigan. We like things the way the used to be.
I'm only being half-sarcastic because I actually do miss Nike and I have no idea why...
I personally think the Maize in adidas stuff is way too bright. If it's a maize shirt, or a white/gray/blue shirt with a lot of maize writing or piping they usually don't look good.
probably just my personal preference, but there is a definite difference.
There is a noticeable difference between the more mustard-maize of Nike pre-2008 and the highlighter-maize of Adidas that's always reminded me of the blinding Oregon and West Virginia yellow.
Nike had plenty of florescent yellow, i think the change in color happened over time, not when M switched companies. Be mad at the school for not holding Adidas to maize Adidas is just doing what they think will sell, hard to blame a money making business for trying to make money. I just really haven't seen much of a difference.
Yeah I remember reading somehting about how the maize used in the 2006 (good year) season shirts was the "actual" maize. No idea if it's true and I definitely preferred the deeper shade.
I've heard that Nike actually "owned" that color of Maize and that has something to do with why we're no longer using it.
It's true. The Maize went way more neon with Adidas' arrival; especially the casual apparel. That, and it seemed like Nike respected our wishes to not change too much year-to-year. Then again, this was pre-"Combat unis/Oregon Weekly Abomination" era Nike. My Hart #20 home jersey is the only one I'll wear and I oh-so-badly want to get a #16. The Adidas track jacket is pretty dope, though.
When the blue is on the base and then you get the maize, and it POPS!
Watch out Sparty, this fan is coming for you:
that guy sounds like Nathan Explosion.
Disagree. Obviously this is subjective, but I feel Nike gear fits better than Adidas, and usually looks better too.
The numbers, and letters were falling off before halftime. In most games our players were wearing different styles of jerseys; never happened with Nike.
That dude isn't even wearing Nike (at least that can be seen).
I like adidas for the sole reason i can tell the reative age of my Michigan gear by the shoe company's logo it's sporting.
Quicker and just as accurate as carbon-testing imo.......
I often have trouble figuring out the relative age of my 1997 National Championship t-shirt.
Had more imagination with their designs. Adidas, for the most part, are boring and baically cut and paste from school to school. Plus the highlighter yellow maize is awful (although that may be a TV visibility deal).
I have experienced a (percieved?) improvement in quality of construction and materials in the Adidas apparel I have purchased. The seams hold up better, and the fabric seems to me to maintain it's feel and color better.
I kind of like Adidas and the colors they use, but thats just me liking vibrant colors. It wouldn't bug me on which maize Michigan uses, the color is not the reason why I love Michigan!
We only talk about sports apparel company's that are with Michigan.
for the UTL unis, they are simply embarassing and the fiasco at Spartyland was salt in the wound.
The Sugar Bowl unis are OK, but this overdone stripe thing has to go!
I like the old Russel away unis, I would just add the maize trim around the blue numbers.
Nike didn't push to screw with our uniforms so much, but Adidas materials seem more durable and wearable. ClimaCool and ClimaLite are fantastic ideas, especially golf/polos and tees for the summer.
You do realize all of these companies make fabric similar to the ClimaLite? Nike has DriFit, UnderArmour is basically all made of similar materials, etc.
I have a Nike Barcelona jersey with fabric that is pretty much identical to the ClimaCool or whatever is in the Michigan jerseys. That said, I don't mind Adidas too much. Most of their gear has held up pretty well for me.
Did you happen to see how many jerseys got shredded this year? How many times the players changed at halftime?
I 100% respect your opinion, but mine is the uniforms kinda sucked this year. We as a brand have enough weight to keep Nike honest. Terrible examples, but look at Alabama & Penn State. Same uniform. Traditional & clean. Sponsered by Nike. Adidas dressed us up like rodeo clowns. Not to mention Nike is a far superior product. imho
Nike fits a lot better on MANBALL size guys. I'm 6'5 250 and Adidas makes nothing you can buy at the store.
All the BCS games have apparel provided by Nike.
There are several options for Michigan.
I am a purist. Not purest. And a graphic designer. Geezus god no.
Tell me where to buy the apparel with no advertising and I will be interested.
I go back and forth between saying it like Beavis and then like the Terminator.
Adi-das. aDEE...DAS. Adidas. Yeah. Adidas.
All Day I Dream About Sex! Adidas!!
...but when I do
What the FUCK is this?!
This stuff is TURRIBLE.
Yep their designs are soooo much better and they don't screw with tradition like Adidas has. HAHA Pro Combat RULZ!!!
as we don't go to Under Armour...
Are there really people out there who won't buy Michigan apparel unless it's made by a certain manufacturer? I mean really...
I prefer the jerseys made by one faceless corporate superbeing over another.
Dave Brandon needs to stop having a fashion freakout like a 14 year old girl and go back to Michigan swag.
I've had it ever since I went to PSU and lived next to the football team. I wore it as a giant F-U since pre-RR they couldn't say shit. I wore it to celebrate the greatest college player ever winning a Heisman, winning a Rose Bowl, and through 3 years of purgatory.
I still wear it almost every Saturday in the fall, unless it's a bye week. Adidas stuff just doesn't fit the same and honestly feels cheap by comparison.
Ditch both of the companies and go with Under Armour. I like some of their high school uniforms that they have made.
