Nike countdown: jersey pricing guide
For those of you who like buying and wearing jerseys to games, I thought I'd make this helpful since there are definite differences between the retail jerseys sold by adidas and Nike.
I've had this buyer's guide set up since last year, but since it's OT season and the countdown clock keeps ticking, I figure I'd share it.
Football
Adidas has 3 types of jerseys: Replica ($65), Premier ($85) and Authentic ($180).
Replica was the cheapest material. Mesh and screen-printed numbers. Premier had sewn-on numbers but still had a pure mesh material, but it also had polyester sleeves.
Authentic was the authentic thing, as evidenced by the price.
Nike has only two types available at the moment for college teams. Replica ($85) and Limited ($135).
Replica ($85)-
Screen-printed numbers, and less detailed.
Limited($135)-
Stitched, tackle twill numbers. A lot more detail to the jersey in terms of its cut.
Nike has authentic jerseys for their NFL teams, but they do not have an authentic model for college teams. If they do, those jerseys would be priced at $295.
Personally, I do not care. The Limited is a much option if you want an authentic jersey IMO.
Basketball
There are two types of model for Nike basketball jerseys, as opposed to the one there was with adidas and their Replica version with screen printed graphics.
adidas replica jerseys were $60.
Your two options of jerseys are-
Replica ($75)-
Screen-printed graphics, just like the adidas Replica model.
Authentic ($120)-
These were actually $135 not that long ago. It appears the price has gone down.
Clearly you can see the difference here. More detailed, the "undercarriage" design on the back is featured and the numbers are stitched, tackle-twill.
Hockey
Just one model here. But the cool thing is that it comes with B1G logo patch like our Hockey jerseys did when we were in the CCHA.
It will run you about $125, just $5 more than the jerseys we had while with adidas.
The countdown to Nike/Jordan rages on.
I wonder if Nike/Jordan will offer the custom option as adidas did with the ability to choose your own number and name on the back (as long as it didnt corespond to a current player or former player or break any other NCAA rules of course)
are you going to start camping out in front of the M Den in Ann Arbor so you can be the first person in line??? ;)
if this work thing didn't get in the way i would be one of the first people at the M Den at 12 Oaks on Aug 1st...
He already is. He took that picture from inside his tent.
...as much as you care about uniforms, WD. And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
If it's good enough for Harbaugh. It's good enough for me. Although I think tucking in the jersey is weird. Personally, I draw the line at pads. I'm not wearing my pads anymore. Makes keg stands too tricky.
Football coach at a youth sports camp is not the same as random guy at a sports bar.
Because one is ultra-serious and consequential and the other is juvenille? Hilarious.
Note that when not on the field of play Harbaugh dresses his age.
So you are saying his jersey-less child is dressed inappropriately?
Not at all. Jerseys are an option for children but not a requirement.
Anywhere.
Literally sitting next to the baseball legend whose jersey he is wearing. This was right before the camp began BTW.
Tell you what. If you ever get interviewed with a guy whose jersey you own, you can wear it.
Wouldn't that actually be the creepiest thing possible? A grown man wearing the jersey of the grown man he's sitting next to in a non-sports setting?
Also, Harbaugh wearing a jersey on the field of play seems equivalent to a fan sitting next to the field of play. So I'm assuming that is OK.
I think we've narrowed it down to frowning on jersey-wearing adult males in public (but OK if near a sports field). Sound good?
I have no problem with people of any age wearing a jersey, but there is one thing that really makes me laugh. This is coming from someone who is a solid 2X-3X, so it's not "fat-shaming." I always laugh when someone who weighs 280 is wearing a #1 jersey..
I would like to make a motion that jerseys are only made as large as the player who wore them. If it fits, you get to wear it. If it doesn't, then you have to wear a jersey from a larger player.
except how many players of various size have worn the same #...but let's suppose they had names like the pros
given the obesity epidemic, this would so drastically cut down on jersey sales for non offensive lineman, and how many people do you know who will pay $100+ for those?
i can't imagine many selling of small RBs like morris and hart
own a sports jersey. Is there anybody else out there like me? Huge fan, but never been a jersey guy.

I can't justifying buying New Jersey - it comes with too much debt and too many tenants I'd have to evict.
Polos aren't exactly cheap either. And the nacho casualty factor still applies.
Just go to games naked. That way you only need to worry about that scalding hot nacho cheese scorching your chapped, hairy backside.
Too much?
unless were talking about the piece of shit guy behind us still.
Haha. Scalding Hot Nacho Cheese. Good one. Whenever I buy nachos, the cheese is more like cold yellow pudding than scalding hot cheese. Somehow still delicious.

I still wear them when it's game day. But I'm also in my late 20s and very fit. I only wear them when a Michigan game is on.
"buying a New Jersey" - I would happily buy the entire state if we could make sure that we get all their best recruits and that rutgers is left with the ones we don't wont.

Jerseys, like bringing your baseball glove to a baseball game, are for children.
Having said that, I'm amped for some Nike gear! Any idea when the team's new unis will be announced/showcased?
This guy would like to have a word with you.
Christicks, shut up. Jerseys are just shirts. People like you are clueless.
When we're in the stands we are all children. That is part of the allure of Sports.
of course I don't have an issue with it. Sometimes I wish I was Jersey-dude. They are just expensive and not particularly versatile.
I mainly wear either logo polo shirts or sweatshirts. The jerseys just seem too expensive to be worth it to me. I might consider it though if they drop the price of bottled water.
haha so true so true
It's just a shirt LOL.
I have no clue where this "jerseys on adults is stupid" attitude comes from.

And some people like them . . . so what? Who cares?

as jorts are far less comfortable, but yes, I have and I have zero problem with it because I give zero fucks what people think of me.
Hell, I typically wear gym shorts and a t-shirt with holes in it and stains on it out to eat.
It is really fucking sad and I honestly feel sorry for you.

Clothes don't constitiute adulthood, but dressing like a child in public spaces can't be helping you psychologically. Regression, and all that. Keep reaching for that rainbow though, chief.
