Nike announces teams that will wear Pro Combat unis in 2011

Submitted by gebe659 on

The teams selected to sport the 2011 Nike Pro Combat system of dress uniforms include Army, Boise State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Navy, Ohio State, Oregon and Stanford.

MSU to wear them Oct. 15th vs. Michigan.
Edit:  Rumors on message boards indicate that they will wear their old black and gold / winged-helmet uniform.  (yes, MSU used to wear wings, although they look very different from Michigan's).

wears against us.  But, to play Devil's Advocate, what would you think if the Red Sox wore uniforms with pinstripes while playing against the Yankees?  As far as I know, the Red Sox don't have a "throw back" that fits that description and of course recently, they've been the better team.  But wouldn't you just kinda scratch your head and wonder "why wear a poor-man's version of your rivals iconic uniform?"  Even if* they had done it first.

*I refuse to look it up.  But from what I remember learning, only Princeton could claim that they had wings on their helmets before we did.

Just another reason to hate Nike... the sound of bullets breaking the sound barrier as they pass by your head is not something to be celebrated.  Combat is not fanshionable nor to be celebrated.  You think Nike would have learned from the misguided Kellen Winslow Jr. rant.  The thugs up at Moo U. are not soldiers either.

What pisses me off about these is until they stop we'll never get to see Michigan and Ohio State play each other when both look like themselves. When's the last time Ohio State lined up their iconic, bird poop-covered silver helmet against the wings? 2008?
