Nik Stauskas to throw out first pitch at Tigers game
Nik Stauskas is throwing out the first pitch at Monday's Detroit Tigers game. LINK http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2014/04/nik_stauskas_to_throw_out_firs.html#incart_river_default
Well, that Jordan Morgan and now Stauskas. Just need McGary and GRII and we'll have a clean sweep. Maybe they can sell that to recruits (tongue inserted in cheek).
how have i not seen this before? what is the internet even for if not propagating this gif?
That is an old school commercial, though I can't remember what it was for...
From the sign in the background I would guess Nike.
For me though, Sir Charles was always at his best for Right Guard.
"Anything less, would be uncivilized."
Rick: Right Guard sports stick anything less.... Would be uncivilized. Director: the stick's upside down. Rick: upside down.
Speaking of the Tigers, Robbie Ray is getting his first major league start on Tuesday against the Astros.
I haven't heard this yet. I wonder if that means they're thinking of bumping Smyly back to the bullpen? If they can get a servicable starter out of Ray then Drew can only help create a stronger bullpen.
Anibal Sanchez just got placed on the DL with blister issues. Should only last until Sanchez is back.
Damn, that's right. I totally forgot about that. But still, if Ray is any kind of decent maybe that could still be an option later in the season if the relievers are still a little shaky.
He's been very solid in Toledo thus far, it'll be an interesting dilemma if the Tigers can't get their bullpen to work out the kinks. It's also a bit surprising that Ray makes a start in Detroit before Fister makes one in Washington lol.
Maybe they are getting him ready for the multiple double headers Detroit will be playing due to the rain outs early on this year.
They should make him throw from second base. He has the range.
"You want the pitcher to pitch from 2nd base?" Rube Baker
It might be just me, but I really do like that Michigan basketball is getting this sort of recognition locally. It is a small way to keep the program in the news, but a good way to highlight their achievements. As for Satuskas' throw, I would have to think that he will still score over 20 and lead the Tigers in assists during that one throw.
What is the point of this tradition?
Don't know specifics or history, but it's a small and easy way for an organization supported by the community to give back by highlighting individuals in said community. No harm, no foul, right?
It just seems like there is no upside to being the person to throw out the first pitch. If you throw a strike a few people stumbling to their seats see it out of the corner of their eye and if you botch it it's all over Sportcenter.
Haha. I can't argue with that. BUT, many times they highlight veterans and other heros. I believe the pilot that safely landed the airplane in the Hudson River a few years back has thrown out quite a few. Politics aside, this was a great fucking moment. Shortly after 9/11 the POTUS throws a strike in NYC during the Wolrd Series. Awesome!
Dubya was such a boss.

WOOOOOOOOW.
In other news....my fiancee lost the diamond in her ring at Thursday's Tigers game....
Pics or it didn't happen
The diamond fell out of her ring? Did you buy it at Meijer?
Doing her best Manny Ramirez impression.
I'm sure there have been but none are coming to mind.
Toronto?
I'll bet you could have searched Google and gotten your answer faster than posting here and awaiting a response.
Bravo
I'll bet you could've spent less time finding the answer for him than typing your curt response.
Does he put it over the plate???
Random note while watching the NBA Playoffs tonight. This about this.
What if Nik Stauskas played for the OKC Thunder?! Thabo Sefolosha is a great defender, but he SUCKS offensively. Stauskas is okay defensively, but he'd take care of all of the offensive lapses that they have when they can't score because they don't have a consistent 3rd offensive option. Stauskas and Sefolosha make a nice combo at SG and give OKC an offensive minded 3rd option they haven't had since Harden.
All set for 1st pitch on Monday. Hoping @NStauskas11 brings 3 goggles to the mound. @UMMaizeRage @umichbball pic.twitter.com/n0sR4FAu9l
