It's really good to see Beilein consistently improve his recruiting since he's gotten here. It will be interesting to see where he goes with another scholarship for 2012 (assuming that Morris or Hardaway leaves within the next two years). Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III are both really good commits.

Yes I was very sad when it appeared He was going elsewhere, but then out of the blue, Beilein reeled him in. He's going to be a good one for us.

Pretty cool. Realized just how massive his hands are - those balls looked like the novelty ones you get from the crane games. Kid looks like a winner.

Granted, my school has always sucked at basketball (although we had a Michigan commit, Kendrick Price back in 2005, don't know whatever happened to them), but St. Mark's destroyed us to the tune of 56-25. God. Damn.

Regardless, I'm glad there's a kid from the ISL on UM again. I believe Courtney Sims repped the ISL here as well. Stauskas is gonna put up some numbers.

Nik looks legit and the future looks bright. Anyone leaving him open in the slightest will end up paying dearly.

One criticism. His dribbling drills seem to indicate a preference to practice dribbling around his right leg and not much around his left leg. I'm pretty sure Coach B will make him master both when it's all said and done. Good luck, Nik, with your stated goals.

Go blue.

Pretty consistent shooting. You can also tell his dad (or whoever that is in the video) never played basketball, based on how he rebounds and throws it back out anyways.

1. I want a backyard court like that
2. Wicked good dribbling skills
3. Great 3 point shooting

But does he have the speed and quicks to defend top D1 athletes and can he score others ways. I hope he comes in with enough strength so he doesn't get physically pushed around.

Would have liked to see him shoot from the left side of the court for the three pointer. Being a right handed kid looked like he was shooting primarily from his "sweet spot." Later on it shows he was limited to the right side of the court due to a fence thought.

Otherwise, awesome backyard film and great to hear legit stats from his mouth (height/weight).

The two videos didn't really add anything for me. The ball handling is alright, but I'd expect any guard or wing recruit that's rather highly rated to be able to do all of that. I only played basketball for two years in high school and could do most of it (granted, not as fast and not making the small bounces THAT small). The ball handling was more of a reassurance for me.

His shooting was impressive, but we don't know whether or not they filmed for hours and just took the few minutes where he was making everything or not though.
Still awesome though.

Just trying to be real, here.

If you were trying to be real, you wouldn't lie about being able to do most of those drills. I have a basketball coach for a father and I have played basketball since I could walk and I couldn't do most of those drills. They take an amazing amount of coordination. But I am sure after 2 years of high school ball you could do them. The anonymity of the internet amazes me sometimes.

he's a highly rated recruit. I'm not saying they're easy, I'm saying any of the top 100 guard or wing players should be able to do them. Therefore, while I'm still very excited for him to come here, that video didn't do much for me.

I couldn't do them very well (hence the caveats) but I knew(know) a few that could. Possibly because my team did ball handling drills like those usually for 20-45 minutes each practice.

I nearly guarantee our starting point guard from last year (and hopefully next year), our best player and a possible NBA draft pick, couldn't do them....but I am sure all of the top 100 guys could do it from the class of 2012.

His skills were very impressive, and I really enjoyed the camera going out of frame briefly to show a lady (his mom?) chilling in a lawn chair.

hmmm....I see what you did there.

If you look closely its clearly not concrete but some type of tile. I did a little googling (i suppose I should have before even asking) and it might very well be Mateflex or Flex Court tiles. Apparently they are somewhat of an impact absorbing surface that is a lot nicer on the knees, ankles, etc. Allows one to practice longer. Go figure, learn something new everyday. Now time to google the price out of curiousity.
