Nik Stauskas Drafted #8 By Sacramento Posbang Thread
Congratulations to Nik! Great work ethic & persistence does in fact pay off. Thoughts on his NBA future?
Now I have a reason to watch the Kings.
Go Blue! Knock 'em Dead, Stauskas!
Congrats Nik! Awesome to see the post draft pick interview being about Beilein and Co. and how great Michigan is at developing talent.
From what I have read, Sacramento is getting something they definitely need in Nik Stauskas, so he has a good shot to make some noise in this coming season, I would think. Even more importantly for us, seeing guys go at #8 and hearing "University Of Michigan" does give me a nice feeling about the program to which I am beginning to grow accustomed.
And Kings fans do not appear happy based on some of their blogs. They think white shooter so he must be Jimmer Fredette. Congratulations to Nik, but this is why I hate the NBA. White guy that can shoot? Oh he's Jimmer or JJ Reddick. Bust. Oh, we have five lottery picks that have never played more than 10% of available minutes together, and in fact have never played together in the case of our most recent draft pick? Oh we can't win with this team. Tank! Yea we just drafted this guy last year and he was ok. But he wasn't all world so he sucks and we must draft a difference maker at his position. NBA!!!
Awesome having more Wolverines in the NBA.
Will have fun watching the NBA following all of these guys.
GO BLUE!
I think he is going to the Sixers
I think the Sixers were banking on Stauskas. MCW was pissed about the Sixers selection, I am thinking that either Peyton is going to play the 2 or someone is going to be traded.
Kings turned this thing around on their web site quickly. pic.twitter.com/3ONN8r8Tzp

Here's the NBA rookie salary scale for the first round:

Nik will make about $4.5 million over the first two years, give or take.
Good for him.
Who knows what kind of player he can be once he bulks up. I want to see that. Not to take away from Nick but being the awesome player that he was really took away from Glenn. I strongly believed at the beginning of the year that Glenn would be a top 5 pick. Had Nick not have improved his game so much, he could've easily been there. If I were an owner and knew talent with brains, I would've took Robinson already and not have been let down. They're both going to be special in the NBA.
I guess I didn't want to be rude but I think Glenn can be better in the NBA. I mean, I'd take Glenn over Hardaway too as good as he was this year. This kid will not need to worry about classes now and he can perfect his game with that raw talent and envious gene pool, hopefully get good coaching and make money. Run on sentence maybe, whatever. GR3 is my guy. Hope he goes to the Lakers!!!!
I don't see it. Hardaway had a MUCH better shot, and can penetrate. GRIII can't create his own shot at all, and will not have NBA 3-point range. He's an alley-oop machine for sure, but I don't see him doing muich beyond spot-up mid-range jumpers and dunking from off the bench. Plus he's never been assertive at all.
I'm here for the posbang, eh?
Don't know how to post Vine videos, but this one is burning up Twitter right now. Nik & his dad's handshake routine once he got selected:
This feels like a trade pick, but apparently Sacramento wanted to replace Jimmer with someone who can actually shoot the ball in the NBA.
And I know he probably has his own thread, too, but congrats Big Mitch as well!
the interesting thing....say he went to another school....i highly doubt he eouldeven have been drafted as soph, let alone a lottery. Take heed, recruits.
that Nik will be bummed about Sacramento being "boring"...you're talking about a kid who grew up in Canada and is so focused on basketball that he doesn't even have his driver's license yet. I don't think he CARES where he lives, as long as he's got a court to play on! He's a total hoops junkie.
