How the hell do you let him run by you on the last play of the half? HOW? Fuck.
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
How the hell do you let him run by you on the last play of the half? HOW? Fuck.
Wisky is really clownhatting this game away.
.... That sucked.
Look at the arm strength!!!!
Yeah he can throw it 50 yards
Because of course. Why would anything different happen?
I always thought Wiscy was a bit suspect defensively, and we're seeing it now. Just some dumb plays by them so far.
That was a nice freaking ball though.
Wouldn't be the craziest thing to happen to Wisconsin this year.
The definition of not taking advantage of their opportunities
Though I don't mind if Ohio wins. They look beatable
You just knew something like that was going to happen after that dropped pick. Got to capitalize on everything vs Ohio.
Shouldn't there have been a 10 second runoff on that false start by Ohio?
Here's the halftime snapshot of the Wisconsin-OSU game:
3rd down efficiency
|2 of 6||2 of 6|
4th down efficiency
|0-0||1 of 1|
|11 of 16||11 of 17|
Yards per pass
Yards per rush
50 yards rushing in a half, on pace for 100 with those 2 RBs and a very decent OL is impressive for Ohio esp considering their DL is just about all underclassmen. OSU is selling out to stop the run and daring Wiscy to beat them in the air. They are getting gashed here and there by a superior WR and a decent QB performance but Urbz is taking away Wiscy's strength. If they hold them to 130 or less in runs during the game that would be quite a feat for an offense built around running
How do you get burned after defending two underthrown passes that should have been picked off? Do they call holding on the Buckeyes? Roby has been fouling all night, not a single call. They tackle Borland in the backfield, no call.
The Badgers have cost themselves 10 points in the first half, the current deficit. Unbelievable.
Seriously Wisconsin? You can't play D for one play?
"You know how a quarterback needs to have a clock in his head? His clock just struck midnight." What the actual hell, Blackledge?
I guess that means he is a pumpkin. I am not good at these sports metaphors.
Ohio is going to win. Wisconsin is getting worn out and not capitalizing. Braxton Miller is the real deal
Guiton is better
So OSU has 2 superior QBs? Cool. Great news.
Get off the blog
Good one, tough guy
Switching over to the Arizona/Washington game. Isn't this about the time in the game for RR to deliver his vaunted "knockout punch" our Dear Leader spoke so lovingly of earlier this week?
His teams deliver the punch frequently. Problem is, they hit themselves in the face.
You're taking it out of context. He was referring to how RR would run certain plays, then had a following counter to completely fool a defense for an easy score. Example: Denard Iso's on 3/5 first and second downs allowed the "QB oh nos" to result in worst waldo's.
I was teasing. RR didn't deliver many "knock-out punches" during his time here and Brian was reminded of that by MANY posters following his comment.
He could aim for squeaking out wins against Akron and UConn, regressing offensive stats, and apologists who say he needs 4 or 5 years to get many 4 star upperclassmen coached for years by Funk. Oh wait, that's what your dear leaders are saying.
I would've liked some squeaked out wins against some teams by him like I don't know...Toledo?
last second of a half coverage ever.
Wish we had Stave on our roster. OSU gonna go undefeated, hopefully lose to Bama in NC.
I'll believe it until proven otherwise.
Who do you see them losing to?
It hurts me to think Urbz could be 24-0 to start his career. SOmeone must stop this. Looking at the schedule everyone knows the @NW game is the big one other than @UM to get them a defeat. If something wacky happens maybe @ILL can be a trap game. I dont see PSU Iowa or Indiana doing much in the Horseshoe. But probability says yes they will play a dumb game 1-2x this year and give an opportunity for a lesser than team to beat them. The question is where, and which team. Very difficult to go undefeated even for the best teams - thats why there are normally just 2-3 teams who do it, at most. OSU is superior physically and talent than anyone in the Big 10 but its not Alabama.
The rest of their schedule is insanely easy. You can turn it over multiple times and still win against those teams. We're the only challenge, and you saw how we've been recently.
Given how they look tonight: Iowa, Penn State, Northwestern, and certainly Michigan are all more than capable of beating them. Not saying those teams are better (except M, jury still out), but certainly capable of winning a game.
I am sorry the jury is "not out" on if UM is "better" than OSU this year. They are not. But UM can still beat OSU - any given day. Name me one position group on offense UM is better than OSU. There isn't any. We can have debates on defense position groups (I.e. I think our LBs with JMFR are better, our DL worse, and the DB I don't know) but if you are objective you cannot spot the other team an entire side of the ball, being better than every one of your position groups (offense) and then say the jury is out who has more talent.
Well I guess you have declared it, so it must be so.
In your mind.
I'm not interested in convincing you otherwise.
Uhh, overreact much? I'm pretty sure Wisconsin alone has a real shot to beat them this very night.
Up buckeye fan
Yeah why Wisconsin was not sitting back and playing prevent defense on that last play of the half escapes me. Got to keep everything in front of you. Then again, if your defensive back comes down with that gimme of a pick then you don't have to worry about it.
Still, OSU is looking beatable. Happy to get those guys at home. Defending our home turf for three complete seasons will likely be on the line that day.
Is that Washington's new stadium? Because at least one end zone is half empty. Not a good sign with a good conference opponent in town.
I can't believe that Miller finds wide open guys in the final moments of these games, and he never gets picked. It's incredible. I mean he just chucks it.
And Roby has interefered all night and not called once. This crew seems more interested in not calling anything. I have no idea why the illegal formation was called on the muffed punt. They showed Borland doing the same alignment twice.
To your last paragraph, it's even more exceptional that Abrederris has been getting open and playing as well as he has; he's looked like a legitimate NFL weapon tonight.
General thoughts - both offensive lines are miles ahead of ours which is just sad panda. Both teams have better RBs - 2 of them...also sad panda. 8 months ago I thought Gardner was on par as a passer to Miller but superior as a runner. Right now I have to tip my hat to their offensive staff for developing a QB - the strides Miller has made from his freshman year to junior as a PASSER are leaps and bounds past what this staff did with Denard. Seeing that 16-0 record next to Urban makes me puke. I am afraid it is going to be 2 more average years for UM, beating up on some softies, having way too close games versus average teams and not quite being there against the better teams. Thankfully in our conference there might just be 1 of those.
WIth all the talk of the balance of the top 4 teams in our division it is probable the best 2 teams lay in the other division this year. Wisconsin isn't great but their physicality would not be a good match up for us right now with so much youth on our team. As I think ahead to 2014 and an offense without Fitz, Gallon, Dielo, Lewan, Schofield - headed into the horseshoe I weep a bit. Not to sound like a downer because this year, being at home with the emotion of it all, I expect a close game and our defense to be better... and the 2014 defense to be the team strength. But we literally have about 9-10 starters out of our 2010/2011 classes and other than Jake Ryan, Countess and Devin when he is on - none of those can be marked as "special" players. The team speed on Ohio, for all their defensive errors (they are as young as us on D) is impressive. The way we are going to win is thru the air as we need a Notre Dame like performance from Devin - that is where they are weak right now. We won't run on that team with that speed.
This post is so full of herp derp.
I'm not into flame wars over the internet and am not trying to be a smart ass but why do you think that? What points is he wrong on? Maybe there is some opinion in the last big paragraph but do you really disagree that much?
Right at the begining where he thinks we're going to be "average for two years" based upon two games THAT WE WON.
Excellent contribution. Perhaps post your thoughts to counter mine so there can be a conversation? Or is that too difficult?
Your second paragraph is spot on. Ohio State's secondary can be exploited and we're going to have to beat them through the air.
Let him write whatever he wants. Don't be such a d-bag
Yeah I pretty much, and unforunately so in a few aspects, agree with all of this.
I would wager that you both have fairly negative dispositions on life in general.
I'm not sold on OSU's offensive line; Wiscy's defensive front hasn't played particularly great. And for all the talk about Miller being a better passer, I'd like to see him play a defense that doesn't allow WRs to run unobstructed 40 yards down the line to end a half. He's a good athlete, but he's about where Denard was under RR when it comes to passing, and that can fall apart on you quickly. Of course, they have Guitton who can come in to spell Miller if he does break down, so there's that. And while Miller is the same grade as Devin, remember he's been a starter for quite a bit longer than Devin and had some really clunker games (look at 2012 Purdue, for example) that his team pulled out.
I know people are all doom and gloom about the offense and the team, but this is still the team that played well against a decent ND team - let's not read too much into being beaten by a pretty good Oklahoma team - and has shown a far more stout defense than many expected.
What Wiscy does every year is absolutely crush cupcakes and leaves people thinking they are going to run roughshod over the Big 10, then they stumble against decent defenses. Their running game is very good, but Stave at QB is average at best.
OSU is clearly the class of the conference right now, but quite a bit can change as the season progresses. I see UM slotting into that 3rd-4th spot depending on which MSU offense shows up and if Nebraska can just outscore everyone. But I also thought UM was the significantly worse team last year against OSU and nearly won despite not having their star QB anywhere close to 100% and trying to basically run a new offense on the fly.
I don't think Nebraska OR MSU or NW are particularly good. Put Nebraska offense with MSU defense and there - you have a heck of a team. But those 2 teams have one tire fire unit, while NW is above average on offense but I suspect will get exposed badly on defense once they get to the more physical portion of their schedule. The Big 10 is so bad I dont see UM being worst than 4th in the conference. We dont have a great unit like Neb or MSU but we dont have an awful unit like they do. Our offense is the weakness but an "on" Devin can erase a lot of other weaknesses. I expect our defense to continue to improve as the year progresses - that is how Mattison defenses have rolled the past 2 years.
Mattison will need to play a major role if we are to contain OSU. They put alot of pressure on a defense and capitalize on indecision. We will need a healthy JMFR for sure. We will be in nickel most of the game so hopefully we tighten things up with our DBs. I'm a little worried about Bolden and his inconsistent coverage skills. We really need to beat those guys this year.
Saban was prepared for Ole Miss. Really all there is to say.
so, so bad
Illegal formation on Wisconsin again!
Can we just offer whoever bielema's OL coach a shit ton of money to come to AA?
Unfortunately, the idea that great and bad coaching has an effect on play is accepted when it comes to Mattison and Gibson, but not when it comes to Funk. I don't understand it.
Buffalo beats UCONN 41-12 today.
I'm sure that means something
Only in Bolivia.
Make sure you post this in every topic. K, thanks!
Michigan based on their matchups. Miller is an athlete, not a quarterback. He isn't polished; he's raw. And he has more starts than Devin. This is his first game against a team with a pulse this year. He's very gifted. But he is no dynamic quarterback.
Both the Buckeyes and Badgers have veteran Olines with more upperclassmen than Michigan. So there's that. They each have great backs, but their running games are pretty average tonight and both teams are using them only to make the passing game work. This is a slugfest, not a showcase of talent.
Whoever makes the least mistakes and executes better, wins. Advantage Ohio.
Aren't they starting two or three new linemen this year, including a sophomore? And are they not coached by an OL coach who has been there less than a full season?
They go RS So, RS Jr, Sr, Sr, RS Jr. We go RS Sr, RS Sr, RS So, RS Fr, RS So. If you add up all the years in the system their offensive has 19 years and we have 18. But, Lewan & Schofield make up so many of those and the other guys have so few starts.
Center tonight is actually redshirt freshman, Dan Voltz. Seems to be playing well; had a Michigan offer.
"Miller is an athlete, not a quarterback. He isn't polished; he's raw. " Huh? From where he was 2 years ago he looks completely different. "
Miller is 13/21 for 186 yards and 3 TDs in one half.... and his passes have been pretty much spot on. Not a quarterback?
It pains me to say it, but Braxton Miller's development as a QB has been good, especially as a passer.
Excuse me while I go wash my mouth out (hands off?).
I don't understand how you can really argue with what he said. You must just be in denial still.
You're right. Braxton Miller is awful
That's his schtick - read the rest of the thread.
Agreed. And I am not comparing him to Devin - he has way more experience than Devin. Miller of first half 2012 is where Devin is now in experience. But a year from now Devin needs to be looking like Miller - efficient, relatively accurate, good decision making on a CONSISTENT basis (not 1 game superman, 2 games super-ugh)... or the staff has failed on developing these 2 QBs in a row. I am comparing Braxton to Denard however as they looked very similar 3 years ago, and Miller looks like a taller more physical version of Troy Smith right now. I am not saying he is the best QB in the world or a 2nd round pick - I am just saying he is looking like a top notch college QB and a mess to deal with. And that staff has made a very obvious difference in his development in the passing game. HE is also surrounded with way more talent than Devin has now or Denard had last year. Sadly.
It's true. He can now accurately throw a bubble screen.
That's incomplete right? That was kind of weird.
ball hits ground is def of incomplete.
It will be
We're in trouble this year if Miller continues to be this accurate throwing the football.
Except for the two almost INTs you mean?
He's been throwing the ball at a 54% clip this year, 58% last year. This might just be one of those games.
Facts are not welcome in feelingsball type reactions.
Miller this year is completing 70.8% of his passes. Tonight he's 15/23 with 4 TDs and 0 INTs. How does that make you feel?
BENCH MILLER - he sucks, PLAY GUITON!
"They are showing more of these replays in the Big Ten this year, to give fans the same view they'd have if they were watching at home..."
Not in Michigan Stadium, Brent.
LOL Musberger really wanted that to be a fumble
Come on Wisky. You have a shot in this game. Hold it together.
Wisconsin is really trying to win this for OSU. Penalties, dropped INT, missed FG, etc.
Looked like our offensive line...only rushed 3 and couldn't handle it
Bucky needs to hold here.
And not EVERYBODY outside of Columbus is sad about that....
I'm having a hard time believing in the badger right now
Ok Badgers - keep your shit together and march down the field for pts.
Quick question for you football experts out there. Why doesn’t the DE always attack the QB on those waggles? Is it fear of opening up a cut back lane if it is a run? I see Ohio is going after the QB on the waggle now and is forcing errant throws by Stave
As a distraction
That dude is a tackling machine. I'm impressed with his quick feet
If they can't run they can't move the ball.
Wisconsin does have 210 passing yards and two passing TDs, all accumulated in the first half.
Wisconsin is not about winning this game.
Brax sure has lost a step in the run game.
Wisconsin's game plan for tonight's game....
Borland with a pretty mean hit there to keep OSU out of the end zone.
Edit: Lol, jk.
OSU is going to own the Big Ten for the next 10 years. I hate to say it but we don't stand a chance . If you thought Jim owned us Urbz is going to kill us every year. It sucks being a U of M fan. Bring back cooper.
Jesus man - overreact much?
Go away troll
I'm not a troll look at my past posts. I'm drunk and this is OSU most difficult game till they come to Ann Arbor. I'm just drunk and punished that for all the bullshit they went through they lost Jim and gained Urbz.
Sorry it was a rant but re-reading it I did look like a troll.
Northwestern is not a pushover.
I believe you. Either that or you write the BEST "fake drunk" prose ever.
Look I didn't mean to stir the pot, I have been at a wedding all night, and been drinking pretty heavily so watching this game just pisses me off. I just want karma to hit some one other then myself... Is that to much to ask. Fuck I hate osu
The next 2 years OSU will remain the class of the conference. By 2015 UM's recruiting of 2012-2014 will kick in and if the recruiting ranks mean anything AND the coaching staff is on par with OSU's the two teams talent bases should be quite equal. If UM is not competitive (by competitive I don't mean "wow UM really needs to play its best to hang with OSU" but a 50/50 game) with OSU in the 2015-2016 season, it will be time to find a new coach. But until then just hang in there and realize the 2010/2011 classes were below par for UM standard and hence we have issues to work through. We have a very young team and it's going to take time.
Holy crap, that post was serious?
Fair enough. I don't look at this Ohio team as unbeatable though. We get them at home and we have more talent top to bottom than Wiscy, who would be right there with Ohio if they weren't playing so dumb. if Gardner can get his confidence back, that is
^. OSU has flaws of their own. No reason to think we can't hang with these guys.
Well okay then
Eh, I think they still have the superior athlete but that gap will get smaller and smaller with UM and osu. I think there will be some great battles year in year out starting soon
Ummm...maybe you should go back posting on Bucknuts
Just like he 'killed' our 8-4 team by a whole 5 points last year?
They brought back Cooper tonight to honor the '93 team. There, feel better?
Nobody thought we would beat their '93 team either. But we smoked 'em in A2.
There's really little reason to believe that at this point. We're recruiting just as well as OSU and we've got a better defensive staff than they have. Just because an unproven OSU is beating an unproven Wisconsin, doesn't mean they're going to destroy everyone forever
Yes....yes it does.
Just ask Hoek. He may be drunk but he's pretty certain that Buckalopolis is upon us.
Good to see someone's found the moonshine tonight.
Looked like an o linemen way down field
I think we're all seeing that Wiscy's offensive output so far this season may have something to do with the competition. I know OSU is doing well defensively, but this offense relies so heavily on running downhill, and when that isn't the case I don't know if they have a second gear.
I mean, how is that different than OSUs offense? You think they would be as effective I'd they couldn't run the ball? Everything except the air raid needs some running production to be successful. I think if OSU had to rely on Miller's arm, they would have trouble as well.
But I think the difference is that Miller can create with his arm or his legs, while Stave is really just an average thrower with very limited mobility. Every team needs to have some form of a running game as well as a passing one, but Wiscy has always struck me as a squad that is immensely better with a lead and just running at you 40-50 times a game. You take that away and ask them to throw the ball, I'm not sure they can do much with it. Compare that to OSU, who really can stretch the field at times even with a passer with some accuracy issues.
Come on Badgers get mad. This is your chance. No more mistakes. Just play.
Hello: Wisky run game.
Where ya' been?
Gallon has to be drooling at the thought of burning Roby like this
I hope our receivers and Borges are watching Roby. He's living a nightmare.
Only took Oregon 1:33 to score against Cal. Over / under on Oregon's point total in the first half?
I'll take the over. I'm thinking 52.
TD Wisconsin. They keep it a game with plenty left in the 4th quarter
Alright need a stop now wiscy.
Lacks effort. 2/10. Would not recruit.
love him. Owning Roby tonight
I'd love to see Gallon get 1x1 coverage from Ohio
constant PI finally getting called.
Man, if only that freshman DB held on to that pick before the half.
Or if they hadn't committed an illegal procedure when they recovered the muffled fumble...
or if they hadn't missed a chip shot field goal
I'll take a nice 3 and out by the OSU offense, or a defensive score.
This game (Wisc-Ohio) isn't over yet. If Wisc can avoid shooting itself in the foot, it can still win this.
SHould easily be winning this game. Not big, but winning. The self inflicted wounds are awful.
For everyone saying we will be able to take OSU through the air like Stave is, they have a legit running game...we do not. They have to load the box to stop the Wisky backs, they will not have to do that against us unless something changes in a hurry.
And Wisky's vaunted run game has been contained very well thus far in this game.
I'd counter that UM has much better receivers than Wiscy, which is basically Abbrederis and nobody else. I'm not saying that isn't a bit of a Gallon situation, but I trust Dileo, Funchess, and Chesson a bit more than Wiscy's other receivers.
Have got to rally the troops Borland get that ball back. Really want JMFR back on the field quickly but safely.
Some GERG-era wrapping up on that kick coverage.
I have a contact with insider information on Urb. I'm told he shaves his armpits
Wisconsin's D is not doing themselves any favors.
If I were a WSU student and they moved the marquee game of the season off campus I would be irate.
And they're basically telling the world that their in-state rival (UW) is located in a cooler city by playing there.
It's a good thing our AD would never mess with cherished traditions like moving our most important game from the last day of the season.
Oh, wait . . .
Dave Brandon has no idea what you're talking about
Miller's not an elite passer, but if we play 7 yards off the recievers like Wisky is doing, he will pick us apart.
Part of that is that Ohio hit a couple of deep passes, forcing them to play off a bit
What would you call Bama's annihilation of Ole Miss?
Why does everyone have to take everything so literally? Sure 'Bama still plays defense, except when they played A&M right? Where was their D that game? I agree with the statement, offense has passed the defenses by and they're not looking back
Would be a good time for Melvin to make an appearance. Take care of the ball.
Unless we get better, it would be hard to stop OSU.. They are playing very well offensively
The game will be at home, and apparently I'm the only one who hasn't been impressed by Wiscy's defense this game. OSU is a very tough squad, but people (not OP) acting like Meyer is going to own the Big 10 for a decade because they are putting points up against Wisconsin are being a bit reactionary.
To be honest i dont see why not, in all reality how many good B1G team are out there? I can only think 2 so far, us and maybe NW.. Everyone else looks bad so far, even our team has not been very consistant the past two games, which i hope chnages soon
That's a tough call, but I think you should go for it there. You're probably going to get the half-yard, and you're two scores down so giving up the ball is dangerous.
I would have gone for it. Plus, your field position isn't going to improve much even if you got a three and out.
Is Zook coaching UW now?
So they think they have a better shot at an onside kick rather than converting the 4th down play? Not a good call.
SUNY-Buffalo beat UConn 41-12 today. Recommence TEH PANIC.
Only the 100th time this has been mentioned.
Seriously? Are we going to cover this again?
Notre Dame got beat solidly too. We know we have work to do. It does not matter how many times we say it, we already know it.
Eh, I'm not sure you can use the transitive property effectively in this manner. Regarding our UConn game, we were two fluke(ish) plays (Gardner's fumble recovered for TD and the punt hitting Da'Mario Jones that UConn recovered on the 8) from winning 31-7 or similar, despite our dismal showing. Maybe we have our hands on the panic button, but not quite ready to press yet.
LOL at how the announcers thought Hyde had made a great play, only to discover on replay that he's actually done an idiotic move by stepping out of bounds.
Well its not really as bad as you would think because the clock doesn't stop by going out of bounds untill under 2 minutes.
Well they got the ball back but less than five minutes. Has got to be pass and maybe they can somehow get a quick strike. Guess we'll find out.
As long as they keep all 3 timeouts in their back pocket, the clock's not a factor. The key is to score here without using one. If so, you don't have to kick it onside.
UW trying their neat to liae
Wow, Ohio State's schedule is a joke. After this, @Northwestern is the only challenge until they visit Ann Arbor. @NW, Iowa, PSU, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan. Combined with their pathetic non conference schedule, that's crazy.
DIdn't someone say they would probably have a dozen teams favored over them on a neutral field yet still expect them to make the MNC game (and promptly get blown out of the building by 'Bama)?
Illinois and Indiana are both much improved squads. But yeah, not a bad lineup for the bad guys.
Stave will throw 3-4 excellent passes in a row and then an absolutely horrible one. Really Jekyll and Hyde.
It's insane how easy of a schedule they've had the last two years. Sets up perfectly for them.
That looks like a catch! It looks like he's down and has possession at the 1.
You could make an argument that the reach for the endzone was a football move.
That's what I was thinking. College doesn't have the bullshit "process" rule, he had control when he broke the plane. That's all that should matter
Well Wisconsin can't say that it hasn't had its chances
I'm wondering why that's not a catch myself
edit: Glad I'm wrong
TIL, Abbrederis is a ginger
An onside kick with three timeouts left from the coach that just zookpunted the previous posession? Sure...
Edit: after seeing how deep that went, that it was actually pretty low-risk and I was wrong.
I liked the call there. Even if it doesn't work, you leave them in somewhat crappy field position.
Holy shit that almost worked
Oregon football is fun to watch.
It touched an Ohio player.
Oh - I misread. I think if you have possession it is, but I'm not sure if you just hit it.
I didn't know that was a rule. Maybe, they don't consider pooch style kick "onsides"
The onside kick Brent was referring to. Actually pretty cool. I've never been able to get the embed thing down.
Yeah that was cool. That syle of kick is technically called a Rabona.
Argghhh....almost a derp
What if Wisconsin recovered that fumble? WHAT IF?!
Wisconsin is going to have a shot. 1:40 left with no timeouts. It's doable.
His own players blocked him...
What channel is the orgon game on?
Pac12 Network. Not sure what channel.
That was almost GG
Well that didn't work out for Stave
Wisconsin is a shitshow right now.
Wisconsin acts like there's five minutes left in this game...WTF?!
Wisconsin is comically terrible at the end of games.
Fake injury to slow Wisconsin down? (Wow never thought I would have to say that)
I guess late game management isn't wisky's new coach strong suit.
Did he have any issues like that wewhen he was at Utah St.?
Never really came up as far as I know.
Good try I guess
That sucks. Urban Meyer is lucky as hell. His win streak will end this year though.
Well that was a chilly handshake between guys that previously coached together. Hmmm..
Looks like Urbz wanted a moment...Gary Andersen says whatever
Damn I love the Pac 12 and the way the roundness of the world works for allowing football to last forever.
I really don't want to have to play osu twice if by some miracle we beat them though. Looks like that's out of the question.
You think it'll take a miracle to beat a team that looks slightly better than Wisconsin?
OSU is good. OSU may win against UM, but goddamn, they're not the 86 Bears.
Wow, that's a lot. I think we could take 2 or 3 bears maybe, but 86? Too many.
The '85 Bears were better so maybe they are as good as the '86 Bears. OH NO!!!!!
I don't think it will take a miracle to beat them. They're not that good. We just can't shoot ourselves in the foot all night like UW did.
They've still got a few potentially dangerous games before they come here. NW for sure, and maybe Illinois or PSU.
Well, it's nice to see that the mighty Buckeyes are mortal and can be beaten if you have some clock management skills.
Wisconsin is terrible at the end of the 2Q and end of game.
Michigan has been terrible in all of the quarters. Ohio is better now. Accept it.
Boo this man
Counting turnovers on downs there have been 8 (!!) turnovers in the first quarter of the Oregon game. It's 27-0 Oregon.
Damn. Ohio State doesn't have to face too many good teams this year, and Wisconsin just pissed that one away with sloppy play. OSU is good, but does not look like a top five team to me.
At this point who would you rank above them? Look pretty top 5 to me.
Georgia and LSU showed today that their defenses are vulnerable. OSU is at least as good as those two.
Their feeble schedule makes me question how good Ohio really is. Considering that a mediocre Wisconsin team is their toughest opponent to date I would say that we don' t know how good Ohio really is. Will games at NU and UM tell us anything? Michigan has issues and NU is a well-coached, but undermanned team.
I don't need to use their strength of schedule to see that their offense is dynamic and can hurt you 6 different ways on any play. Their DL is active, LB instinctive, and DBs aggressive.
I f'n hate Ohio, but you can't deny they are a well coached team that is dangerous.
On a neutral field I would probably take most of the other teams in the top 10 over OSU. They have blasted the nobodies that they have played, but in the first game that they played against a decent team, they could easily have lost. They got some good bounces tonight, and Wisconsin shot themselves repeatedly in the foot (dropped INT at the end of the 2nd; missed short FG, etc.).
That easy INT that was dropped at the end of the half was a killer. That and letting a receiver get behind you when you know they all but have to go to the endzone.
I know the transitive property doesn't always apply, but Cal looked a hell of a lot better when they played Ohio a couple weeks ago.
I don't know why so many crapped their pants watching Ohio tonight. Wiscy looks to have several RBs in a stoppable running game, one wide receiver, and a slightly above average QB. And a bunch of bone-headed plays.
A good win for Ohio, sure. A reason to go running to the hills pissing all over oneself? No.
when we face them in the big house! It will make a victory that much sweeter having them ranked number 2 in the country!
Wisky has a legit running game, more than legit. OSU had to load the box all night, allowing their receivers (J. Abracadabra) to get one on one matchups. We do not possess even 1/10 of wisky run game. Therefore they will not load the box, and there will not be receivers with one on one matchups. This is all assuming things dont take a drastic U turn before OSU.
cannot. His mobility alone will give Ohio fits. Ohio still has to account for a run game in terms of DG's legs and Toussaint. Michigan's run game certainly isn't good, but UM presents a multitude of problems that Wisconsin does not.
UM scored 41 on a team with a better DL in ND. I think they can do as well versus a team with a weak secondary in Ohio.
It all depends on Devin Gardner. He's a streaky shooter..He could get hot from three and pull the upset.
Love the analogy but i don't see it being an upset. Michigan at home can't be worse than a pick'em right now.
It remains to be seen that Gardner can scramble efficiently and consistently. In the last few games, whenever Devin tried to escape the pocket or bounce outside, he was dropped. If we want to beat OSU, we need to run quick developing plays. Short passes and inside handoffs are gonna be a lot more effective than play action passes and delayed handoffs. Our o-line just cannot maintain their blocks long enough to run long developing plays
Man I really hope we can run for more than 35 yards in a game at some point this season. Things are looking grim.
OSU has a tough test at NWU under the lights next week. At some point, they've got to have some bounces not go their way while the other team actually plays well. Anyway, I wouldn't mind OSU being undefeated heading into Nov 30th.
I really want them to come to A2 undefeated. I think they're beatable, and we've got an excellent shot to beat them at home
Two words: Gray Goose
see the Oregon highlights and wonder why we don't try throwing swing passed to Gallon/Dileo and just have Chesson and Funchess cut block the opposing DB's? Seems so simple and effective.
Yes, but the answer is quite complicated.
Stanford is good.
is the model that Michigan is after, well then I will be patient. That is truly MANBALL.
I heard SC considered one of the top defenses.
Uh, they must have left the game plan in Lane's Miata
Hell yea, Sun Devils.
There was just a graphic in the Boise State - Southern Miss game showing that Southern Miss was tied for the second most turnovers in the country this season. Sadly, Michigan was next on the list. Ouch.
Devils lighting up the Trojans
better start getting his resume updated and have his agent start putting out feelers for jobs next year.
Not quite sure why I have this Stanford-WSU game on but there is an epic popcorn eating fan just laying out in the pooring rain munching happily. Please for the love of everything let this be a .gif.
was hilarious. Joe Tessitore was losing it, he couldn't even do his job he was laughing so hard, off the mic of course.
My Devils are running the Trojans out of Tempe!
Is Oregon going to score 100?
Rankings don't really mean much at this point. Thus far we have not looked like we belong very high in the rankings, but if our young players continue to develop and we keep winning, then the rankings will sort themselves out.
*SU really taking it to USC 48-21 start of 4th Q
too bad leon mcquay III has to play for Laney boy. he'll be fired by the end of this year.
SC looks like they just Lee for a long time (knee injury). They're going to be in trouble. ND, Stanford, UCLA will be losses
Lee's knee is fucked. Hope for a speedy recovery Marqise.
I'm enjoying this beatdown by the Sun Devils way too much. I don't like to see any players get injured, but I love seeing cocky Kiffin and cocky USC players getting spanked on the scoreboard.
