Nice write up on Charles Matthews
Good, long read. I'm not willing to call him the next star seeing that he hasn't played a competitive game in over a year and only played spot minutes in his sole college season. But he's gonna contribute right away for us.
Good to see he was raised right, and with an outstanding support system. It's not easy to forget we have him in the wings though. I've been waiting to see him hit the court since I heard of his transfer. Can't wait
Seems like a player who is going to be awfully easy to root for. Looking forward to seeing him on the court next season.
If he has a good enough season to look the part of a low first rounder. That would bode quite well for this team.
For some, a low first-rounder might not even average 5pg.
Good piece. Solid kid. I'm preparing myself now for him to leave as a low 1st round pick next season.
Does anyone think that Matthews entering the lineup next year would've taken significant time from DJ and maybe that played a larger role in him leaving than being fringe 1st round? Maybe it's been addressed before, just wondering. I see all these reports saying how Matthews is by far the most talented kid on roster...
They play different spots and they backup other different spots. Never crossing paths.
But I could be wrong.
Ask my wife, I usually am....
I don't see how it would. Matthews doesn't play the 4. I think Wilson got a guarantee that he was going in the first round and figured the risk of coming back outweighed the potential reward.
guaranteeing Wilson. Hope he's got something else lined up or that Utah is bluffing.
Same. I personally wouldn't trust any guarantee, as the draft is too unpredictable. A guy higher on Utah's board might fall to them unexpectedly, at which point Utah isn't going to take Wilson just because they promised him they would. They'll take the player who they think is better. I hope Wilson got good advice when he made his decision, but I didn't really understand it. He's a guy with high upside who had only scratched the surface last year, there was a lot of room for him to improve his draft stock.
Maybe he just hates school
School is not exactly rough for these guys if they do not want it to be.
I guess he just wants money now versus a year from now, as another year of improvement like last year would have made him a lottery pick.
It was a head scratcher from a financial standpoint. Only thing that makes sense given the current information is that he wants to be paid THIS year.
I'm not over it. I wanted to see what Michigan's defense looked like with X, Matthews, and Wilson on the floor.
Me too bro. Me too. Le sigh.
NO FORGIVENESS!
I am just going to remember to tell myself to enjoy every minute of his one year here before he declares because he could be the 29th pick in the 2018 draft.
Because you didn't give me a Free warning and my ADD butt clicked on them for the first time in years.
Get your revenge by copying and pasting the entire article because I sure as neck am not going to click
You're not alone. I can't click either.
Forgive the newspaper this links to.
Thanks for sharing. Let's hope he stays healthy. Seems like he has a lot of upside.
Now I'm going to be worried about his safety for the next few weeks until he returns it AA.
Look forward to seeing him in a UM uniform this year.
I wouldn't be worried, when you're from places like that you can't live in fear. Besides I'm pretty sure he knows the way of the land and how to avoid the trouble spots.
Go blue!!
