Nice Fluff Article on Bball Player Corey Person

Submitted by StephenRKass on

There's a nice fluff article on Corey Person over at Wolverine Nation. (Link:  http://espn.go.com/colleges/michigan/basketball/story/_/id/7578895/corey-person-fills-unique-role-michigan-wolverines.)

While Person seldom, if ever, sees the court, he apparently is part of the glue that holds things together. This article gives a great sense of how important team chemistry is, and how the scout team/ bench guys make a huge difference to the overall play of the team.

I'm glad to see the entire team work together. Person is apparently quite the jokester. He helps keep the team loose, and works with each of the guys in what they do as the team is introduced at home games.

There also is a bittersweet piece about former player and current senior Ben Cronin, whose father died of a heart attack the year before Cronin arrived. (Link:  http://www.freep.com/article/20120216/COL22/202160507/Michael-Rosenberg-U-M-s-Cronin-has-happy-ending-lost-dream.) The Cronin article has two strikes against it:

  1. It is at the Free Press.
  2. It is written by Rosenberg.

Still, for basketball junkies, it is a nice fluff article about what might have been, and the heartache Ben has gone through.

I love to hear about these behind-the-scene stories and the intangibles that a player like Person brings to the team.   Everyone is valuable, especially on team with good chemistry.  Everyone matters.   Senior night will be special for this young man.

That is awesome; I could read this kind of stuff all day.  Props to Rothstein for writing it.  I also liked hearing the other players giving Person credit for the role he plays.
