He puts his best players in a position to make plays. Now, I'd prefer that Burke doesn't settle for a long three as well...but setting him up on an island with a single high ball screen is what we do best on offense.
I think the latest example is when he won the timeout at the end of the first half against State with that matchup zone call on D. Excellent, excellent coaching.
I agree. If one man messes up and it leads to a wide open 3 or easy layup, that's not always coaching. This young team as never had to switch and rotate in HS like they do now. Not having a Senior and only 2 experienced Juniors in the rotation is going to lead to some mishaps.

Are you saying that since Coach Beilein is not getting the team prepared he should be fired? I am going to need some of those examples you failed to mention please.

Michigan is 24-5, tied for 2nd in the strongest conference in the country, ranked 7th in the country, still has an outside shot at a shared league title, and is poised to make it's deepest tourney run in 20 years, with a line-up consisting mostly of freshmen and sophmores; but John Beilein doesn't know how to prepare the team to play? That makes a lot of fucking sense.

out of a timeout. Read the article, THEN post. Lazy posts by lazy posters about lazy players and coaches are beyond lazy, when these guys are working 18-hour days, going to school, etcetera. At least if you're going to make these kind of assertions, dig in.
John Beilein knows as well as anyone that he makes mistakes. You have to make thousands to get where he is, probably 100s a day. (Scientists--most successful people know this; and they also know that you don't win every game.) Sticking with it/learning from it is what it's all about.

He's the most underrated coach in the country, IMO.
"Beilein wrote eight pregame keys for Ohio State on the locker room whiteboard about 30 minutes before tip-off. Each fell under the heading "Our Game, Our Night, because ... " The third one read, "We will play with swag by shooting, passing and driving with great confidence in ourselves and our team."
I chuckled a little here, but I really enjoy his approach to preparing this team by phrasing things like this. His experience in literally climbing the ranks of college coaching and dealing with the limitations inherent to each level have brought to Division I and now Michigan a coach that is capable of devising a means to best utilize the talent he has and prepare accordingly. The "Scientist" label really does suit him - you won't win every game, but Beilein is very good at learning from the mistakes and rolling the lessons into the next game. Indeed, there have been statistical improvements since Wisconsin despite the loss to Penn State in the interim (most notably, offensive efficiency is creeping upwards again, as is effective field goal percentage, for starters).
...Beilein refuses to play 2 bigs at the same time, this caused Penn St. to go up +10 in rebounding and ultimately lead to our demise because he likes to play 4 guards at the same time...that doesn't work on the road, Beilein has a good home game-plan, but he needs to adjust on the road against the top teams when our 3 point shooters are having an off night
It's hard to play 2 bigs at the same time when your guys are injured and foul trouble/fatigue becomes a concern. Not to mention we tried this vs State with little success at best.
you obviously missed the MSU game on Sunday when Beilein played 2 bigs for the majority of the game.
pretty sure he only did that because stauskas was unable to return and it was a choice between Vogrich or Morgan/McGary at the same time and Morgan wound up fouling out and UM almost losing because of it.
Robinson doesn't play the 2 or 3. So that is a completely invalid statement.
We only played two bigs when Robinson was out. Stauskas being out meant more minutes for Levert and Spike.
Edit: confirmed on Statsheet. Two bigs and Robinson were never on the floor at the same time.
We didn't play two bigs for the majority of the game - only for about a quarter of it.
Morgan, McGary and Horford combined to play 49 minutes, which means that we only played two of them together for nine minutes, and went the other 31 minutes with one big man.

I guess I called it fluff because it doesn't contain any specific news (like, Beilein hits X wins so here's a profile!).

Beilein's mother's cousins were inspiration for Saving Private Ryan.
