...out of the playoffs, it's very easy for me to root for Knuble and the Caps. This may be his last hurrah, and it would be nice if he were able to actually hoist the Cup, not just get consolation (to him at least) championship rings.

however, I can't find myself rooting for the Caps.  Comparing the Caps and Rangers, I find the Rangers to be much similar to the Wings in that they play as a team with so many selfless players.  They are near the league lead in shot blocks and hits during the regular season and playoffs.  I think all fans would love the way Callahan leads the Rangers as captain.  He isn't the most skilled, fasted, or athletic player, but he gets the job done and always puts the team first.  Plus, I love rooting for the young guns they have in Kreider and Hagelin.

If the Caps win I'll be happy for Knuble, but from an unbiased perspective, I have to go with the Rangers here.

I knew Mike in college and he was always a sincerely nice guy. After college, I ran into him the day of the Red Wings Stanley Cup parade in 1997.  He was serving beers from behind the bar at The Post downtown.  Other members of the team were there, with the cup.  It was quite the party.  Mike and I chatted for a while and it was good to see that he was still the same old Mike.

It's been great to see him stick in the NHL for so long.  I hope this is the year he finally "earns" his name on the cup.
