but Wings will need to be a whole lot better to win this series.  Need more production from Tats and Gus, and it would be great to get Abdelkader back at something approaching full strength.  Mrazek was really good; aggressive at the right times and but for a couple of misplays behind the net, pretty solid fundamentally.  Hope that gives him some confidence.

Glennie had a really good game; be nice to keep that up and have this series be a real coming out party for him.

As a Red Wings fan of 25+ years, I feel this is the kind of win we were absolutely fucking due for and I won't be apologizing on the coldest day in hell. As mentioned upthread, I have seen the flip side of this game a few dozen goddamn times. This win is karma. Roy, Giguere, Kiprusoff, Roloson (to this day, WTF!!!), this is for all of you!

Sorry if not all that coherent, but I enjoyed this one in more ways than one and probably a little too much.

To me the worst was Anaheim in 2007, simply because of what could have been. Take Giguere and an incredibly fluky late equalizer in Game 5 out of the equation and it's the Wings, not the Ducks, going on to smash Ottawa in the Finals. This in turn means the Wings are playing for a 3-peat in 2009. I don't know if that would have made much of a difference in their bizarrely indifferent play in the last two games of that Finals series, but it's interesting to think about.

Good win tonight .  The Wings got the type of playoff goals they needed . Defense did enough to win.

I expect a totally different type of game Saturday, but I hope for the same results . A Red Wings W.

Lets Go Red Wings!

There were a lot of really easy stops in there.  The Wings definitely have to even up the puck possession, but the Lightning weren't doing themselves any favors by just dumping the puck onto net instead of working for higher quality shots.  Definitely reminded me of  some of the 90's Wings teams where they thought the goal of the game was to register as many SOG as possible regardless of the quality.
