NFL.com: Taco Charlton (#3) and Chris Wormley (#6) are Top 10 interior DL prospects
Jonathan Allen (Bama) and Malik McDowell are 1 and 2. Surprised no Glasgow.
I'm surprised it's not the other way around.
Wormley seems better and Glasgow might be better than both of them.
Someone behind me just said, "What chew talkin' 'bout Willis?"
Draft prospects are not about who is the best right now. It is about who has the most potential. And many believe that taco's combination of size and athleticism gives him more potential than some of those other guys who may already be closer to their ceiling.

While he's not quite as explosive, Charlton's the same size as Ziggy Ansah (he's actually a bit bigger) with a similar build. Several NFL teams will probably see if they can make him a monster.
He can run to the border.
I'll show myself out
regard, and looking at some of the possibilities we can line up with in the next couple of years, he could have fit in nicely here on the football field as well. Normally, when you miss out on player of that talent, you do actually feel bad for the team. But now I imagine every great DLman on our team and imagine how much better they would be, whether true or not. Gentelemen, we've got one hell of a front, and I really don't know what these backers are going to do yet. It's possible they come along and we have a 7 as good as in 2006. But as good as that DL was in 2006, the 8 we rotate this year is probably the best I've seen since I became a fan in 1969. We are fuckeeeng loaded, man.
I can see the merits of that. I can also see the merits of Taco Charlton being where he is. I wonder how much of that ranking is based on measurables as well as what's on film.
...most would agree that tacos sound better than worms.
They taste better too.....
That's debatable and you don't want to debate this with me because I am a master debater.
I'm confused as to why they have Taco and Wormley on the interior DL list but then spend the majority of the time talking about how Taco is a 4-3 end who may be able to bump inside in a 3-4. At that point it seems like he should be on the edge list.
I think his stock will soar if he is healthy all year. I am a little surprised to see Taco ahead of Wormley.
I'm not even gonna click on the link.... sounds like some typical NFL reporting
He's our speed rusher but in the NFL hes a strongside guy. NFL.com's list of edge rushers are more like speed rushers.
Uh, no. A strong side DE is still not an inside guy. And don't try to say a SDE on a 3-4 cause he DEFINITELY isn't that. Nice try but stick to hockey.

I didn't say he was but what I was hinting at without saying it black and white. The fact that speed rushers are entirely different than a strong side or inside guy and the strong side guy is different than the inside guy I get it. But I think he was just trying to consolidate groups since this is a group of "guys to watch" maybe this author doesn't feel there isn't enough "exciting" interior d-line players to watch so he lumped the SDE with the interior guys to boost it.

Every position is different. I understand I also played football there Captain America. I just should have explained it better. You might have figured it out if you just clicked the article and read.

And a "base DE" that they are describing is often head up or inside the TE in an over front. So a SDE can be an interior DL against the run and a pass rusher when the TE releases.
Sorry, I don't really consider a 5t "inside". 0-4i are inside imho.

Must admit I wasn't thinking along those lines at all.
So that's basically three guys on the D line alone who have gotten 1st or 2nd round chatter from legitimate outlets (Charlton, Wormley, Hurst), and then we also have Glasgow who is as good a college lineman as any of them, and also Gary. And Mone might be a top rated lineman as well based on what Harbaugh has said (so far none of his hyping up of players has proven to be unrealistic). Is it crazy to think this defense could be as talented as OSU's was last year?
Remember him from camp videos where he was whipping Jordan Diamond and wondered why we didn't go after him harder.
like school too much, plus Iowa has a pretty strong Illinois pipeline... But an unrelated note, he did play against Ty Isaac in the 2011 5a championship game and helped hold Isaac to 515 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Jehu is #2 of players to watch on the WR list Mason Cole #7 for G/C Jake Butt #2 TE I'd imagine when the DB's come out Peppers and Lewis will be there
at LB, not DB
Yes I know he plays LB/S role at Michigan. However I'd imagine with down hill running teams like Wisconsin he'll be playing S or CB unless michigans LB's are that bad

NFL are already looking at him as a LB, not DB
Sent from MGoBlog HD for iPhone & iPad
They don't know how he'll be as a LB. I think they are intrigued because of his athletic ability. But he's athletic enough to play deep safety as well, and to slide into man coverage every once in a while. He would need to improve in that area, but he's athletic enough for both. I'd say his future position is still up in the air.
KR, PR, P, K and 1-Tech, too.
He might even play Center, Power Forward, and Point Guard.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him at Shortstop or Goalie, either.
is if he's in the box safety but NFL wants LB who can play in space. Jabrill Peppers fits that mold. They don't think he's a FS in the next level and certainly not at CB.
I would still love to have him!
Possibly the most frustrating recruiting saga I've ever experienced.

This is fantastic

becasue he may not be the starter this year. Don't be surprised if Mone is starting in front of Glasgow this year.
Outside of injuries reasons, I would be very surprised by that.
if taco plays inside often...something has gone wrong.
smh... Taco is not going to play inside simply because an NFL.com article dubiously put him on a list of top potential interior line draftees.
Not sure why people are getting so annoyed that Taco is lumped in with the interior DL prospects, when he's an interior DL prospect for NFL teams. Yes, he may be able to play the "base end", or play head up over the TE a la Wormley last year, but he won't be your nominal rush end.
Taco's issue is that he's a tweener. He doesn't hold up to doubles well enough at this stage to be a great interior DL prospect but he doesn't have enough speed/burst to play on the outside. He has an opportunity to prove a lot this year, because if he can play a bit better on the interior, then he becomes a very good interior DL athlete, with great length, that can play for most teams. He just isn't there yet.
I would have put money on Rashan Gary being drafted in the first round coming straight out of high school if that were allowed.
no way. wouldn't be on the field until year 3, and then he'd only have a couple years left on a rookie deal.
No, he wouldn't be drafted at 1st round.

So UM with 2 of the top 6 same as Bama...and Taco ahead of Deshawn Hand - remember him :)
If this D plays to its potential and the QB's don't suck (basically impossible with the QB whisperer) then the sky is the limit for this team. Could very well get a CFP game with UM's 2 and Bama's 2 on showcase.
Hand. Hand? Wasn't he the guy who wanted to get a great education as an engineer?
I am not certain if he just needed extra coin, or if it were specific to him, thereby making it a ............ ..........
Also funny seeing that story on UM offering the 8th grader on the sidebar 'News' panel. The only story that is not NFL related.
McDowell is a beast on saturday, but he doesn't seem girthy enough as a pro interior DL and not fast enough for DE or 5 Tech.
Actually, NFL thinks he'll be a 3-tech or 5-tech in the next level. He's really athletic
Sent from MGoBlog HD for iPhone & iPad
I'm fairly certain he's an interior DL, not a 4-3 DE, but he is plenty athletic enough to play 5-tech or DT in the NFL.
